An educational charity and membership body, the Social Research Association aims to drive excellence in the conduct, development and application of social research to deliver lasting benefits to the social research profession and the wider public good. With around 1600 members who work in government, academic, the voluntary and private sector or as freelancers, the organisation's key activities include training, events, ethics reviews and regular publications.

You'll be joining the small, supportive team at an exciting time following a period of investment in its membership offering and in the lead up to its 50th anniversary in 2028.

Contract: Permanent role, offered on either a full time or part time, four day per week basis, with flexible working options offered and fully supported
Salary: £38,000 to £43,000 per annum

The incoming Communications Manager will have real ownership of the communications output for the organisation as well as strategic influence, while retaining day to day responsibility for the delivery of messaging.

Purpose of the role:

The Energy Advice Coordinator will provide essential advice to people affected by spinal cord injury who are struggling with, or at risk of fuel poverty, helping them to improve their situation while recognising and responding to the unique challenges that spinal cord injury can bring. They will manage a caseload offering practical solutions, whilst developing referral pathways to connect them with relevant services to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their fuel costs.

The role will also lead the development of knowledge and skills across Back Ups’ staff and volunteer teams, developing easy to use resources and an understanding of when and how to escalate cases for more in-depth advice. They will work closely with sector charities and advice organisations to ensure a high quality of seamless support while creating a lasting legacy for people affected by spinal cord injury.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To provide impartial advice to householders on the telephone, at events or online group events.
• Make use of internal and external referral systems to ensure clients’ needs are met;
•  Respond to enquiries from the public, local authority staff, private and voluntary sectors or installers and, where appropriate, redirecting them to members of staff or other agencies;
• Maintain quality of advice and information as required
• Work with the wider Back Up team to create resources to support people affected by spinal cord injury, both digitally and physically.
• Work with Back Up’s services team to embed and deliver group based online advice sessions in our support groups and course modules.
• Develop and lead a programme to ensure Back Up’s services staff and volunteers develop a baseline of knowledge that enables them to identify and provide basic information to people affected by spinal cord injury around energy efficiency.
• Conduct thorough assessments of clients' energy needs and identify potential solutions and further sources of support through telephone-based support.
• Provide tailored advice on energy-saving measures and support schemes to the caseload.
• Work collaboratively with local authorities, energy providers, and other relevant organisations to ensure comprehensive support for those in the caseload.
• Educate people affected by spinal cord injury on energy efficiency and ways to reduce their energy consumption.
• Maintain accurate records of all interactions and support provided, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
• Support the project manager with the development, delivery, and evaluation of the energy advice project.
• To maintain up to date, working knowledge of sustainable energy matters, affordable warmth, renewable energy, water heating and usage.
• At all times, ensure that advice service and activity are in line with the requirements of the project;
• Effectively utilise existing sources of data to identify suitable opportunities to meet customers’ needs.
• Stay up to date with relevant policies, schemes, and best practices related to fuel poverty and energy efficiency
• To develop and implement partnerships and referral routes that support people affected by spinal cord injury with relevant energy advice.
• Liaise with organisations to develop partnerships by utilising appropriate resources and support mechanisms;
• Represent Back Up at various partner meetings;
• Develop and maintain effective operational partnerships with key delivery agents and stakeholders.
• Monitor and report on the impact of interventions and support provided.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential:

• Minimum of 1 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within Energy Advice or similar area.
• City & Guilds Energy Awareness 6281-01 or the ability to achieve this.

• A keen interest in energy issues and concerns currently facing energy consumers.
• An enthusiastic attitude, patience and empathy to support people with the issues they are facing and the ability to assess individual situations and provide practical and effective solutions.

The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation is a drug and alcohol education charity, founded by Fiona and Tim Spargo-Mabbs in 2014 in response to the death of their 16-year-old son Dan having taken ecstasy. The charity aims to support young people to make safer choices and reduce harm, through increasing their understanding of the effects and risks of drugs and alcohol, and improving their life skills & resilience. We are looking for an enthusiastic communicator to join our team to coordinate our community and corporate fundraising activities.  The Corporate and Community Fundraiser is a fixed term maternity leave cover – it is therefore a great opportunity if you have previous experience and would like to use this to make a big impact.

The Corporate and Community Fundraiser will be responsible for raising money from the community and local/national organisations at our small but always rapidly growing and highly motivated charity. Communication – you will capture and develop stories about our work for use with fundraising, relationship building and reporting, contributing to regular newsletters, website updates and social media posts.

The Brent Centre for Young People 

The Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP) is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 800 young people a year with a wide range of issues. You will deliver practical, people-focused support across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment, onboarding to contract changes, developing and updating organisational policies, helping to strengthen and develop how HR supports colleagues across the organisation.

Working closely with the Administration and Finance Manager, you will act as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, ensuring they are handled promptly, accurately and in line with Brent Centre’s values. You will support colleagues and managers to use HR systems effectively, interpret and apply policies correctly, and follow clear, consistent processes. You will maintain accurate information across our HR systems (Bright HR and SharePoint HR Intranet) and ensure HR data is complete, compliant and up to date.

About the role

We are excited to be recruiting a Programme Manager to join The Scholars Programme team. This role will be central in ensuring high quality programme management and oversee effective stakeholder stewardship across multiple geographical areas.

Programme Managers work closely with each other, reporting to the Head of Programme Management, to ensure excellent programme delivery across the UK. Each Programme Manager will manage a team of Programme Officers, who each manage a cluster of school-PhD tutor relationships. Programme Managers oversee all aspects of programme delivery by Programme Officers, ensuring key performance indicators are met. They will coach and support their team to deal with complex and sensitive issues from schools and PhD Tutors, becoming directly involved as a point of escalation. Programme Managers will be responsible for school retention targets and will identify opportunities to promote The Scholars Programme. They will directly deliver aspects of our provision including PhD tutor training, university events and tutor assessment centres. Programme Managers also lead collaborative work with other teams, providing strategic insight and oversight of joint processes to ensure information is disseminated and key actions are taken by the Programme Management team.

The role requires a driven and dynamic team player, with experience of success in programme management. They will be positive and pro-active in finding solutions, with a commitment to delivering excellent standards. They will champion the charity’s values and embody them in interactions with colleagues and partners.

While this role can be based in our London or Leeds offices, or be fully remote, it will involve some travel to deliver programme events at our different university partners and to attend in-person team days.

About you

The role will best suit someone who:

• Has knowledge and experience of the school and university sectors, including the university access agenda
• Has knowledge of educational interventions, including impact management
• Has proven experience in leading the delivery of a project or programme across a locality, is a qualified teacher (QTS or above) or has academic research experience
• Has experience of line management and/or leading and delivering through others
• Has a demonstrable passion for furthering The Brilliant Club’s mission
• Adheres to information security policies included in the charities ISO 27001 manual and completes information security training

Hammersmith and Fulham MHCA is a drop‑in mental health crisis support service for anyone in Ealing aged 18 and over who is experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress. The service provides a safe, calm, and welcoming space where individuals can receive immediate support without needing to attend A&E. Our aim is to reduce distress, help people feel heard, and support them to regain stability in the moment.

Visitors can access one‑to‑one emotional support, help creating short‑ and long‑term safety plans, guidance and signposting to other relevant services, and access to refreshments. The service may also offer group activities, such as peer support sessions, creative groups, or wellbeing‑focused activities, which create opportunities for connection, expression, and recovery in a supportive environment.
