This role is a key member of a small staff team of the Girlguiding North West England Region Office which is led by the Executive Manager This role will contribute to identifying, applying for, and securing grant funding, as well as developing creative fundraising initiatives. The successful applicant must have excellent verbal, and written communication skills. They must be able to build positive relationships with staff and volunteers at all levels and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

ROLE SUMMARY

This post holder will be a key member of our delivery team working across a portfolio of our inspiring projects and programmes that support young people to develop their skills, empower their potential and influence change.

We are looking for a fun and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and time management skills, and someone with an understanding of the issues facing young people and how these can be addressed through our programmes.

Business development & Partnership building

1. Donor management

1. Represent Hope for Justice at external meetings with donors and consortium partners.

1. Ensure reporting requirements for all donors are met and quality reports are completed to deadlines.

2. Lead on donor grant agreement/contract negotiations and compliance.

3. Ensure all relevant team members are fully briefed on the terms and conditions of donor grant agreements/contracts, including key deadlines (completion of grant management documents as required).

4. Manage due diligence processes, facilitate donor audits and support the programmes team on external evaluations for donor funded projects.

General

1. Travel is expected as part of the role, including to Hope for Justice Programmes.

The post holder will be required to coordinate and attend events across the UK, including our annual national conference in London and other planned regional events throughout the year. Travel and occasional overnight stays may be needed.

Role Purpose

The Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, organising, and delivering a varied programme of impactful events for service users, volunteers, and the wider cardiomyopathy community. These include, but are not limited to, supporting logistics, planning and execution of information days, medical education events, webinars, volunteer development days, and the charity’s annual national conference.

The role covers the full lifecycle of event management, from concept and planning through to delivery and evaluation. This includes oversight of event budgets, supplier and stakeholder management, and ensuring all events are delivered to a high standard, on time, and within budget. Events will be delivered both in person and online, so confidence in managing virtual and in-person events is essential.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the charity, the Events Coordinator ensures that every event is accessible, engaging, on budget and aligned with Cardiomyopathy UK’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by cardiomyopathy.

Event Planning & Delivery

• Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to define event objectives, content, themes, budgets, and logistical requirements.

The role will focus  on growing the value of funding from large trusts and foundations globally, as well as from corporate foundations and institutional funders via consortium partnerships with larger conservation actors.

The role will oversee grant and contract management with existing organisational and institutional partnerships, as well as grow this portfolio through developing a robust pipeline of new opportunities, finding creative ways to secure visibility and first meetings, developing relationships, compelling funding applications and ensuring strong contract management oversight.

The role will lead a team of two, work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues based in the US and UK to secure visibility with and develop strong long-term partnerships with new Trusts and Foundations; and work closely with colleagues in Kenya to ensure strong project delivery and grant management. Responsibilities include:

• Lead the implementation of the Trusts & Foundations (T&Fs) programme with a particular focus on growing the portfolio of large T&Fs in the USA, UK and European markets;
• Work with fundraising colleagues across priority markets and with communications colleagues, using innovative and proactive approaches to business development and relationship building to unlock visibility opportunities and develop relationships with new prospects; in order to develop and maintain a strong pipeline of high-value funding opportunities.  
• Continue to oversee the current ‘programme funding’ portfolio which includes existing institutional funding partnerships and corporate foundation relationships in Kenya, ensuring that ongoing and new opportunities where they exist are capitalised on.

The Press Officer will be a member of the External Affairs Team. This role is designed to support the development and implementation BABCP’s external affairs plan with a view to raising the profile and influence of BABCP amongst the general public and promoting the benefits of CBT.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

As the Press Officer:

• Work effectively and flexibly as part of the External Affairs team, elevating BABCP’s profile through media. coverage in ambitious and creative ways.
• Monitor media trends and generate a daily news summary to staff.
• Proactively identifying any potential reputational risks.
• Work with the Head of External Affairs to provide monthly reports on media coverage and analysis.
• Secure new stories, opinion pieces, features, reviews and other coverage in a wide variety of publications, broadcast and digital media both trade and national.
• Provide staff cover in the Out of Hours (OOH) rota.
• Work with the Head of External Affairs and the Policy and Public Affairs Officer to devise advocacy campaigns and evaluate them.
• Work with the Head of External Affairs to develop and implement impactful media strategies.
• Be the first point of contact for media requests, working with the Head of External Affairs.
• Work with the Head of External affairs and Communication Officers to generate content for our social media channels.
• Support the events, Accreditation and membership teams ensuring appropriate coverage of our annual events, Accreditation and registration courses and other events as needed.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience in media, press or communications preferably within the healthcare, public, or membership sectors.
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with journalists, internal and external contacts influencing change.
• High level of ICT literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and document management systems).
• Strong understanding of UK and/or Irish trade and national media landscape, particularly health and mental health.
• Outstanding spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into simple accessible information at pace.
• Creative thinking with the ability to develop relevant content independently.
• Able to work effectively and collaboratively in fast-paced environments, and prioritising workload.
• Good attention to detail, drafting accurate copy ready for sign off.
• Understanding the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion in the context of mental health inequalities.
• Commitment to demonstrate the values of BABCP.
• Willingness to work flexibility to provide for the needs of the Association and the External Affairs Department.

Role Purpose: Carry out actions in support of the strategy set out in the Business Plan. Key responsibilities include: Strategy and Business Development and to lead the fundraising effort MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Work with the Board of Trustees to develop the overall Business Strategy

· Lead the Fundraising programme, with a target income of £100,000 + per annum new funds

· Manage relationships with other 3rd party organisations operating in adjacent healthcare sectors

· Working with the Clinical Consultant, open 5 new Leg Clubs per annum, maintaining a prospective list of 10-20 potential new launches at any one time

· Work with existing and prospective Leg Clubs to understand the NHS landscape both to facilitate growth and to support existing clubs

· Develop relationships with existing Leg Clubs

· Support the Educational Programme of the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation REPORTING

· Produce a monthly activity report

· Report to Board of Trustees at the Quarterly Board Meetings

PERSON SPECIFICATION

GENERAL

This is a Sole Trader position which means that the individual must provide their own laptop/computer, phone etc. Appropriate expenses will be reimbursed. This role description is not exhaustive and the successful candidate may be asked to undertake additional appropriate duties as required.

As the Policy and Public Affairs Officer:

• Keep up-to-date with current trends and activities by monitoring parliamentary and local government activity relevant to BABCP in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland; notifying and briefing colleagues of relevant political developments and opportunities to influence
• Support reactive policy work such as drafting consultation responses, parliamentary debate briefings and summaries, and letters to policy makers; working with the Senior Clinical Advisor and the Head of External Affairs.
• Liaise with the member engagement manager and the membership team on policy work ensuring member feedback is embedded into policy work.
• Support the delivery of parliamentary events to publicise BABCP’s work including identifying and engaging key stakeholders, managing attendance, preparing and distributing event information, and post-event follow-up.
• Support the Head of External Affairs and the Senior Clinical Advisor in the implementation of a public affairs influencing plan.
• Raise awareness and the profile of BABCP by identifying, and developing relationships with key stakeholders.
• Deputise for the Head of External Affairs if required, representing BABCP at external meetings.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience in public affairs and policy, preferably within the healthcare, public, or membership sectors.
• Experience of liaising with a range of stakeholders and implementing stakeholder mapping.
