About the role

As Philanthropy Officer at Versus Arthritis, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our ambitious goals for growth and impact. Sitting within the Philanthropy and Partnerships team, your work will be central to securing the support of individuals who are passionate about our cause. We are looking for a Grants Management Lead who will manage part of ClientEarth’s existing grants portfolio and provide strategic direction within the team and across departments to ensure successful grant management delivery and fundraising.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Jamil De Dominicis. Jamil joined ClientEarth in 2019 and is based in London. As Global Head of Grants, he leads the Grants Management team and oversees ClientEarth’s grants income from trusts, foundations and other statutory and institutional funders. Prior to joining ClientEarth, Jamil worked in various policy, research and grant management roles at the international affairs think tank Chatham House and the National Foundation for Youth Music.

Main Duties

• Manage existing relationships with major foundations and other institutional funders to ensure that funders are aware of project performance and receive regular updates in compliance with grants agreements
• Oversee relationships with senior stakeholders from current and new donors; act as a key facilitator and steward of relationships between funder staff and key programme contacts
• Support on developing and executing the Grants Team Annual Plans and strategy
• Oversee the development and production of well researched and comprehensive proposals and reports to existing donors that meet funding priorities and requirements within the submission deadline, in coordination with programme staff
• Line manage their team effectively by ensuring the Managers and Officers have support and are empowered to lead on their funding portfolios

About Ambition Aspire Achieve (AAA):

Ambition Aspire Achieve is a well-established and highly respected children and young people’s charity rooted in Newham, east London. Founded in 2016, we now deliver high-quality, inclusive and accessible services to over 950 children and young people through our youth and play hubs in Canning Town and Stratford. We reach many more through a growing outreach programme delivered in schools and local communities across Newham.

The Role: Deputy Chief Executive/Finance Manager

We are seeking a proactive and strategic leader, with strong financial and operational acumen to strengthen the charity’s internal infrastructure. The role will lead on financial management and oversight, supporting the Chief Executive at a senior level, playing a vital part in ensuring the AAA’s long-term financial resilience, equipped the charity to deliver its mission for years to come.

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking charity professional to combine senior-level leadership with hands-on financial management and organisational insight.

Key responsibilities include:

• Strategic financial oversight and budget planning support.
• Management daily finance operations including payroll, cash flow, audits and reporting
• Leading statutory compliance and financial risk management
• Supporting strategic planning and business development alongside the Chief Executive
• Representing the charity externally and deputising for the Chief Executive at senior forums
• Line managing and overseeing back-office functions
• Providing operational insight and help to develop infrastructure and systems

What we’re looking for:

We’re seeking someone with proven experience in charity, public or social sector leadership who thrives on both strategic challenge and operational delivery. You will have a strong grasp of charity finance, exceptional communication, leadership and problem-solving skills and a demonstrable passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

About the role

We organise our Policy & Ideas work around the following issue areas: families, work and care; housing, land and climate; community, place and social security; and macroeconomics and fiscal policy. This role will have a focus on either macroeconomics or fiscal policy, or both, whole also working to support out other policy themes. We want our work to confront the immediate manifestations of poverty and insecurity but also the deeper social and economic conditions on which these rest.

That’s where you come in.

We are seeking two Senior Economists, one full-time permanent role and one 12-month fixed term role, which could be either full-time or part-time. In both roles, we are looking for someone to develop and lead research projects that generate arguments, policies and ideas to address the social and economic challenges that underpin poverty and household economic insecurity in the UK today and chart a course to a different and better future.

You will devise, lead and deliver high quality economic analysis and thinking to JRF’s policy & ideas work and offer a professional economics perspective across the wider organisation – and as a trusted, expert voice externally. You will seek out and connect with people or organisations developing new ideas and strategies that can contribute to our mission; and to develop proposals for how JRF should use its platform and resources to support their development and diffusion.

About you

As a Senior Economist, we would like you to either have a professional economics training or equivalent professional work experience, advanced data analysis skills and the ability to use a wide range of tools and software to undertake large scale and groundbreaking economic analysis (including using micro-data from major national surveys).

With experience of working on policy issues relating to poverty, you will have significant experience of having initiated, designed, led and delivered projects that included original economic analysis that generated a different or better understanding of policy challenges and helped to guide new arguments and ideas. You will be able to think critically and creatively, analyse and problem solve, and contribute to the generation of new ideas and alternative ways of approaching an issue, able to communicate arguments and ideas persuasively, via writing and speaking.

You will have advanced knowledge and critical awareness of economic theory, principles, datasets and analytical techniques and how to deploy these effectively in support of understanding and addressing the drivers of household economic insecurity. With significant knowledge of one or both of macroeconomics or UK fiscal policy and a strong understanding of how policy making works across the UK, devolved and sub-national governments, you will have an awareness and engagement with relevant political, policy and intellectual debates, plus models and approaches to social change.

The new AGS will lead the continued development of our membership strategy and journey, working with volunteers and staff to build a compelling membership offer that recruits, retains and motivates a growing membership, and ensures that our membership is representative of the communities we serve.

They will also lead the Party’s activism strategy, identifying new ways to support and involve our members in our campaigns, policy development and local activity. The AGS will oversee the support we provide to our local, regional and national units, including line management of our team of regional organisers.
