Job Title: Craft Operative, multi-skilled generalist (Joiner/Carpenter/Brickwork)

As a Craft Operative for the LSE Region you will play an important role applying to help us improve, maintain, and preserve our wonderful network for our customers to enjoy today and into the future. This will involve undertaking the, refurbishment or repair of canal infrastructure including locks / bridges/ aqueducts / towpaths and associated equipment, working efficiently to defined safety /environmental and heritage standards at all times.

The post holders will be required to work an annualised hour’s system which includes working any 5 days out of 7 rota'd system including statutory holidays and weekends as well as being part of the on-call out of hours rota. Our Craft Operatives in the reactive team cover the whole of the LSE Region so you need to have your own transport and valid UK driving licence.

Contractually the role is based at Adelaide Docks, this role will involve regular travel across the London & South East region.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

As a Craft Operative for the LSE Region you will play an important role improving, maintaining and preserving our wonderful waterway network for our customers to enjoy by efficiently maintaining our locks and other assets along the local network in line with safety requirements and heritage standards. 

Responding to business needs, you will enhance the reputation of the network and support Canal & River Trust’s aims to improve safety; protecting the heritage and integrity of the inland waterway network.

Our Craft Operatives perform a unique role; fitting new lock gates as they are replaced, refurbishing or repairing existing lock gates and associated equipment, to ensure it is working efficiently & to defined standards. You will be working with specialist teams and experts in their field as our multi-disciplinary teams work together to improve our waterways and ensure our 200 year old assets can be enjoyed for years to come.

Key responsibilities: 

• Working outside, carry out maintenance and repairs works to the waterway infrastructure to ensure network availability is maximised. Repairs will often involve sensitive heritage or environment solutions which the role will be expected to be familiar with. In some instances, the operative will be expected to complete repairs to the highest standard utilising relevant skills and experience.
• Use Bricklayer expertise to undertake the manufacture & refurbishment within a timely manner, in accordance with defined standards and agreed programmes. 
• Operate a variety of machinery, plant, tools and other equipment in accordance with Canal & River Trust’s safety standards and where appropriate support in-house maintenance.
• Undertake general housekeeping of personal equipment, workshop equipment and workspace ensuring all are maintained to defined standards.
• Timely response to customers’ queries and requirements, including responding to emergencies.
• Ensure all equipment (PPE, plant, materials etc) is appropriate for the task.
• Operate regionally displaying the appropriate flexibility needed to deliver the nationally prioritised works programme. This will occasionally involve travelling further distances to undertake repair work.

About you

Operative skills are a minimum requirement.  Whilst it is also important that you can turn your hand to other skills which will be taught along the way, an understanding of, and high level of competence in certain disciplines are necessary.  You may have a background in the building trade, or from a specialist joinery background, where measuring, cutting and joining is all second nature to you. 

Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

• Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (or experience) e.g. City & Guilds Level II, NVQ Level II 
• Experience handling plant/equipment in group A eg lifting plant, chainsaw, hand power tools.
• Experience of working within relevant discipline eg Bricklaying, Carpentry, etc. 
• Full Valid UK Driving Licence - you will need to be able to respond across the region and get to where the team need you.

About the Role

This is a dual-role position supporting both the Finance and HR functions of the charity. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budget management, and ensuring smooth day-to-day HR operations. Finance

· Post transactions into our accounting software, Xero, ensuring that everything is accurately recorded and coded.

· Process and record financial transactions, including invoices, payments, card payments and expenses, and organise a twice- monthly pay run.

· Perform bank reconciliations.

· Complete the quarterly gift aid claims.

· Support the Head of Finance and Resources with the completion of the monthly management accounts, financial reporting and budgeting.

HR

We are seeking an experienced Head of Fellowship Retention and Services to lead a dynamic team dedicated to delivering outstanding member services and driving retention. This pivotal role will oversee a significant income stream and ensure the ongoing engagement and satisfaction of a prestigious fellowship network.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director of Fellowship, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering retention strategies that underpin long-term financial sustainability. Leading a busy Services team, you will ensure excellent day-to-day service delivery, handle high volumes of member queries, and manage complex issues with diplomacy and care.

Using data-led insights and innovative campaign approaches, you will develop targeted retention initiatives, continuously improving renewal rates and fostering a strong sense of belonging among members. With responsibility for a budget of approximately £280K and generating nearly £6 million in annual income, this role is crucial to the organisation’s financial resilience and mission.

Harris Hill urgently seeks a Training and Events Coordinator to support an education charity whilst they recruit permanently.

This role is an immediate start, full time with 2dpw in the office, and likely to run for 4-8 weeks, depending. 

Duties in a nutshell:

Support in coordination of our Staff Network Training Event – Around 2500 attendees (hybrid delivery in multiple locations)

Support in participant comms around this event with registration, comms and calendar invites

Support with virtual delivery of other small sessions – polls, breakout rooms etc

On the day support with a few smaller in-person training sessions – registration, catering, printing of resources

Production and analysis of training data – attendance, engagement, feedback etc.

Administration of our Learning Management System with setting up and creation of Events and uploading of resources (training will be provided)

Support with e-learning module design using templated in Articulate rise (training will be provided).

£28k plus holiday paid hourly, working 9-5:30 full time. May rise to £30k for an experienced candidate.

Job Title: Database Officer

Location: London (Hybrid, 1 day in office per week)

Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

As Database Officer, you will be the backbone of the data management, supporting the Data & Appeals Manager and wider Development Team. Your expertise in CRM systems, data accuracy, and reporting will ensure we maximise fundraising opportunities while maintaining strict compliance with data protection laws.

What You'll Do

• Manage and maintain Raiser’s Edge NXT CRM database
• Process and reconcile donations alongside the Finance team
• Generate targeted data reports and support fundraising appeals
• Ensure data integrity, conduct audits, and maintain GDPR compliance
• Provide training and advice to colleagues on database use
• Collaborate with external agencies for data-driven campaigns

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience with CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred)
• Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data cleaning
• Experience managing large datasets and performing data imports/exports
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Proactive, self-motivated, and a team player

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Property and Carbon Projects Coordinator who will coordinate day-to-day management of the Woodland Trust’s land and property processes, and third-party carbon projects, particularly in Scotland where the majority of our carbon projects are under development

The Role: 
•    Support the delivery of Woodland Carbon Code projects by producing documentation, managing project data, and helping meet compliance and audit requirements.
•    Act as a first point of contact for Land & Property queries and communications, ensuring smooth and professional engagement.
•    Provide administrative support, including managing purchase orders, sales invoices, and maintaining estate and land data systems.
•    Assist with the creation of estate reports, legal documentation, and processes for site-specific data collection.
•    Conduct or support WCC validations both on and off the estate and liaise with landowners on carbon projects, helping track progress and ensure verification standards.
•    Build strong internal and external relationships to support project delivery and stay informed on evolving carbon standards and market developments.
•    This role includes a mix of working from home and at one of our regional offices.

The Candidate: 
We’re looking for someone who can bring or is keen to develop the following:
•    A good understanding of - or willingness to learn - estate functions, legal requirements, and natural capital codes such as the Woodland and Peatland Carbon Codes.
•    Basic knowledge or experience of woodland creation for conservation and carbon benefits.
•    Awareness of woodland creation grant schemes across the UK nations.
•    Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external partners.
•    Excellent attention to detail with confidence in data handling and using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
•    Effective communication and negotiation skills to support stakeholder engagement and project delivery.
