Main purpose of role:
This is a unique opportunity to lead Muscular Dystrophy UK’s policy work to improve access to treatment and shape life science policy for people living with muscle wasting conditions.

With exciting progress in treatment development but challenges with NHS system readiness, you’ll be at the forefront of efforts to ensure everyone in the UK can access the best available therapies—quickly and equitably. 

You’ll build strong relationships with governments, regulators, charities, and industry, lead our technology appraisal work, and grow our influence in life sciences policy, particularly around clinical trials and the implementation of the UK Life Sciences plan, drawing on Muscular Dystrophy UK’s rich history in medical research.

Working collaboratively across teams—including Policy and Campaigns, Research, Marketing and Communications, and our devolved nation leads in Services and Support—you’ll help deliver key strategic objectives. 

Reporting to the Director of Policy and Campaigns and working within a matrix structure with the Director of Research and Innovation, you’ll play a vital role in driving change and improving lives.

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Project Director to lead a major new initiative supporting the implementation of the revised Ambient Air Quality Directive (AAQD) across nine EU Member States. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver a multi-country programme focused on reducing air pollution and climate emissions in Europe.

As Project Director, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the Europe Clean Air Quality project, ensuring it is well set up with strong governance, strategy, and stakeholder engagement. You will lead a dedicated project team, manage relationships with funders and partners, and supervise grant-making and technical assistance efforts across targeted Member States.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining and implementing strategy across nine EU Member States and pan-EU initiatives.
• Leading technical assistance, policy advocacy, and strategic communications projects.
• Building partnerships with stakeholders in the most polluted regions to support AAQD transposition and implementation.
• Managing a team of project managers, analysts, consultants, and grantee partners.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Extensive experience managing high-value, multi-country projects in the EU or internationally.

About the role:

You will act as subject matter expert to deliver a best-in-class business planning and budgeting process that leads us into delivering on our strategic plan. 

You will be ensuring that management reporting and financial management tools are fit for purpose, contributing to cross-functional performance improvement and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and best value for the organisation. Engaging with Budget Holders and other stakeholders as a strategic partner to develop and maintain a consistent business partnering agenda through the year, providing financial insights that support high level decision making.

What you will be doing:

Budgeting and Forecast 

• Deliver a collaborative annual planning and budgeting process that ensures delivery of the business and financial strategy and re-forecasts as required. 

 Accounting and Performance Management: 

• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts to deadlines for review by the Head of Finance / CFO, identifying key variances and issues affecting financial performance, whilst looking for improvement opportunities. 

• To deliver a periodic reporting process that is timely and accurate, engaging with heads of departments (budget holders) to build on and develop existing reporting. 

• To contribute to the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts and associated audit processes. 

• To develop and deliver a suite of financial performance metrics in line with best practice. This will include development of cost allocation methodologies and balanced scorecard elements aligned to strategic reporting. 

 Financial Planning and Analysis 

• Support the preparation of financial forecasts and scenario modelling.

• Engage with the Head of Finance and CFO to deliver a shared understanding of future incomes and expenditure and to introduce planning methods to rapidly flex the organisation to meet the uncertainties in such forecasts. 

• Providing financial insights to support the preparation of business cases within the organisation for capital and revenue initiatives. 

 Financial Analysis 

• To provide analysis of income, charitable expenditure, support, governance and other costs with meaningful commentary and trend analysis. 

• Provide Motability with high quality data analytics and reporting that drive evidence-based decision making to maximise impact and value for money. 

• Support any shift in operating model, so that Motability maintains clear sight of its impact and value for money. 

• Support Motability in maintaining and improving an open and high performing culture focused on beneficiaries and the difference Motability can make for them. 

 Payroll: 

• To contribute to the preparation and review of the monthly payroll, including starters and leavers, and statutory returns. 

• To contribute to headcount and employment cost projections and modelling. 

Your experience:

Must haves:  

• Recognised CCAB Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). 

• Periodic reporting, budget and forecast preparation with variance analysis and commentary. 

• Delivering a successful business partnering agenda for budget holders and non-finance staff with the ability to communicate key financial messages and influence management action. 

• Some experience, or understanding, of Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, with the ability to build dashboards, manage certified datasets, and contribute to governed reporting environments. 

• Sage 200 accounting package experience. 

• Microsoft Excel – intermediate to advanced level. 

• Able to work confidently with a range of senior stakeholders on operational and financial data to arrive at measures of impact whilst also able to support a new manager with their first budget.

Role Overview

DPI is seeking a highly organised and motivated Personal Assistant to the CEO to support the implementation of DPI’s programmes, coordinate events and publications, and provide professional administrative and strategic support to the CEO. This is a hands-on dynamic role involving a combination of project coordination, research, communications, and executive support.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional written English, strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

CEO Support

• Manage and maintain the CEO’s schedule, appointments and correspondence.
• Prepare meeting briefings, talking points, speeches and background notes.
• Coordinate travel arrangements, visas, itineraries, budgets and expense claims.
• Support CEO-led meetings, take minutes and follow up on action points.
• Maintain filing systems, contact databases and programme records.
• Assist with coordination and oversight of interns and small research assignments.
• Provide basic IT and device support to the CEO.
• Assist with basic budgeting and expense sheets.

Research & Publications

· Conduct small scale research and synthesize findings for internal and external use.

· Work with programmes officers to support DPI project and initiatives

Person Specification

Essential

• At least 3 years’ experience in a related field.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Political Science, Law, or related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in written English, including grammar and editing.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience using publication layout or design software (e.g. InDesign, Canva or similar).
• Strong digital literacy and familiarity with communication technologies.
• Professional discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Calm, confident and adaptable under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for short periods.

Desirable

• Interest in peacebuilding, human rights, democracy support or conflict resolution and programme coordination.

About the role

As our new Content Marketing Officer, you’ll lead the charity’s content strategy. Your focus will be on storytelling and content creation across different platforms, helping us connect with new and diverse audiences. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

You’ll take ownership of how we communicate our impact through engaging content. This includes: 

• Planning and producing content for social media, websites, and other channels
• Overseeing the filming, editing, and commissioning of video content
• Supporting colleagues across the charity to create branded, accessible videos
• Collaborating with delivery teams and external agencies to produce high-quality content
• Working with the commercial team to develop materials for business-to-business marketing
