Homeless Link is the national membership charity for frontline homelessness services. We work to improve services through research, guidance and learning, and campaign for policy change that will ensure everyone has a place to call home and the support they need to keep it. The Senior Communication Manager will lead the communication work for our National Workforce Programme. Homeless Link is the national membership charity for frontline homelessness agencies and the wider housing with health, care and support sector in England. About the role

We’re looking for an engaging, empathetic and self-reliant outreach worker to join our dedicated team working to deliver support and practical advice to a community that has suffered as a result of the biggest treatment scandal in NHS history.

This is an opportunity to work for an organisation with a 75-year track record of effective advocacy for our small community of people living with genetic and acquired bleeding disorders and their families. Most importantly, this role has the potential to directly improve peoples’ lives.

Around two thirds of our members are impacted by the contaminated blood scandal of the 1970s and 80s, which was recently investigated by the Infected Blood Inquiry. The resulting report in 2024 recommended improved health resources for people with bleeding disorders as well as compensation and support for those infected and affected by the scandal.

Although significant progress has been made, there’s a lot more to do. Many of the community feel isolated and with the Infected Blood Inquiry now closed there is a need for people to maintain and develop connections with others that understand what they have and continue to endure. It is vital that the community has a safe environment to express their views and seek help and support.

Part of the role will involve supporting the future generations of affected families ensuring they have the support and care they need to live their best lives.

More than 40,000 men, women and children in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, and the number rises every year. Membership of the Haemophilia Society is free and open to all.

Key responsibilities:

• Engage with the infected blood community to understand their ongoing needs and the support that could be of value.
• Develop and deliver a series of engagement events to support the community and fulfil the identified needs.
• Feedback to the Haemophilia Society issues, needs and concerns raised by the infected blood community.
• Engage with external stakeholders who support and deliver services for the infected blood community.
• Explore additional resources available that may be useful to the community and where appropriate develop additional resources.
• Liaise with other charities active in this space across the UK.
• Track engagement with events and gather feedback on the objectives of the meetings.

• Excellent organisational skills and ability to plan ahead, keep records, manage deadlines, prioritise workload and maximise your use of time.

Other requirements

• This role will require extensive travel throughout the UK and to work varying hours including evenings and weekends as required.
• This role will be home based with a requirement to visit the office in London for key meetings and events.

The role

This is a dual-focus role sitting right at the heart of how we deliver our impact. You'll lead our volunteer programme nationally; recruiting, training and supporting the coaches and volunteers who deliver our programmes, while also overseeing programme delivery across our London partner schools.

On the volunteer side, you'll manage the full volunteer journey from recruitment and DBS checks through to training, engagement and retention, and act as our organisation's DBS Lead. On the delivery side, you'll coordinate and deliver MyBigCareer programmes in London, acting as a key relationship holder for school partners and ensuring young people receive consistently high-quality careers guidance and employability support.

This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable with strategic coordination and direct delivery, who thrives in a close-knit, values-led small team.

About you

You'll bring experience in volunteer management, programme coordination or a similar role, ideally in the charity or education sector. You'll be a confident communicator, a natural relationship builder, and someone who cares deeply about equity and social mobility.

Essential experience and skills include:

• Experience managing or coordinating volunteers, ideally in a charity, education or community setting
• Experience coordinating or delivering programmes or projects with multiple stakeholders
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Confidence delivering workshops, training or presentations to groups
• Sound understanding of safeguarding principles
• Competent with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and CRM systems

Desirable:

• Experience in or with schools or education settings
• Experience as or supporting a DBS Lead
• Knowledge of or connections to London communities
• Lived experience of the inequalities faced by the young people we support

The details

• Salary: £30,000–£32,500 FTE (pro rata for part time)
• Permanent contract, full time (37hrs) or part time (minimum 30hrs) considered

This is a pivotal role at an exciting stage of growth, ensuring strong financial governance, donor accountability, and sustainable systems across a multi-country organisation.

Role Overview
You will oversee UK financial operations, compliance and reporting, while supporting robust financial oversight of our Tanzanian partner organisation. The role combines hands-on financial management with strategic input, governance support, and system strengthening.

We are looking for someone who:
• Is a qualified accountant (or equivalent experience)
• Has strong experience in charity finance and SORP
• Can produce clear, insightful management accounts
• Understands restricted funding and donor compliance
• Is comfortable working remotely and collaboratively across cultures
• Brings integrity, attention to detail, and a solutions-focused approach

Experience in international development, multi-currency accounting, and the use of accounting software such as Xero, along with donor CRMs (in particular Beacon), is desirable.
