Peer support Workers hold a key position in the Trafford Living Well service, working with individuals and groups, to help people to reach their individual recovery goals.

Peer support workers support individuals to establish greater control over their lives, helping to identify aspects of life that give meaning, hope, value and purpose whilst recognising that everyone’s recovery is a uniquely personal process.

This is a demanding but deeply rewarding role that combines service delivery, engagement, and emotional resilience. As Events & Engagement Officer, you will work closely with our Operational Support Team to design and deliver a varied programme of online and in-person events. These will support the wellbeing of our Members (adult family members of injured veterans and serving personnel), reduce isolation, and build understanding of the challenges faced by military families.

The Ripple Pond is a UK-wide charity that supports the adult family members of physically or psychologically injured Armed Forces personnel and veterans. We provide peer support, structured guidance, and signposting to improve wellbeing and reduce isolation for families who often carry complex emotional burdens in silence. Our work is rooted in lived experience and built on a foundation of inclusion, compassion, and community.

The Operational Support Team lies at the heart of our frontline service. It delivers one-to-one support, coordinates safeguarding and triage, and ensures Members are connected to the right pathways at the right time. It is a trauma-informed, emotionally intelligent team that works with care and professionalism, ensuring that no one caring for an injured veteran or serviceperson feels alone.

You will start your time with The Ripple Pond by embedding into the Operations Team for approximately two months. This will give you a firm grounding in the lived experiences of our Members and ensure you’re fully trained to act as Duty Officer. As Duty Officer, you’ll receive and respond to referrals and enquiries, complete needs assessments, carry out risk assessments, and navigate Members to appropriate internal or external support. This may involve responding to distressing and traumatic situations, including domestic abuse, suicidal ideation, addiction, and other complex issues. You will also be expected to attend (online) multi-agency meetings.

This role requires emotional resilience, sound judgment, and exceptional communication skills. You will need to work flexibly, including some evenings and occasional weekends, and travel to a limited number of face-to-face events and meetings throughout the year. In return, you will be part of a supportive, values-driven team making a real and lasting difference to people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with your colleagues to design and deliver an engaging and inclusive programme of digital and in-person events that support Member wellbeing, build confidence, reduce isolation, and encourage peer connection.

• Co-develop activities such as themed discussion groups, creative and recreational workshops (e.g. book clubs, craft groups, quiz nights, art workshops, journaling, fitness, etc.), and skill-building sessions.

• Plan and lead external engagement sessions for professionals and stakeholders to improve understanding of the Armed Forces family experience.

• Manage the full event cycle, from concept and scheduling to promotion, delivery, and evaluation.

• Work closely with the Operational Support Team to ensure all activities reflect Member needs and organisational aims.

• Respond sensitively to Members disclosing trauma or distress and act in line with our safeguarding and escalation procedures.

• Attend virtual joint-agency meetings when required to support Members or represent the charity.

• Collect and evaluate Member feedback to help refine services and contribute to reporting and development work.

Local Quality Advisor - National Youth Agency

The National Youth Agency is looking for a new Local Quality Advisor to join our Youth Work Innovation & Development Team.
 
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week
Salary: £37,826 per annum
Remote: This role is homebased (within the UK) with occasional travel for staff residentials and other events.

As the national body for youth work, the NYA has a dual function. We are the professional statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) responsible for qualifications, quality standards, and safeguarding for youth work and services in England. In line with our charity mission and aims, we also champion youth work through research, advocacy, campaigns, and programmes.
 
We work in partnership and believe in collaborative leadership, listening to youth workers and the youth work sector so that we can understand their needs and respond to the challenges they face. We are ambitious for youth work and for young people and integrate youth voice and influence across our work
 
About the Role
 
Responsibilities will include:

• Support the Local Quality and Improvement Manager in delivering key Local Offer programmes, such as the Peer Review and Peer Network Programme, helping Local Authorities and organisations meet the needs of young people and fulfil their Statutory Duty (Section 507B).
• Assist in the coordination and delivery of traded services related to Quality Standards and Organisational Development, ensuring high-quality support for partners.
• Contribute to the development, quality assurance, and standardisation of NYA resources related to Quality Standards, working collaboratively across NYA teams.
• Promote NYA standards and resources to the sector, offering support and training to encourage adoption and effective use.
• Identify and deliver support to non-commercial requests, including those from VCSE organisations and Town and Parish Councils seeking information, advice, and guidance.
• Engage with the Local Policy & Partnerships Manager and the NYA Knowledge Team to gather and share sector insights, promoting knowledge exchange across NYA teams and the wider youth work sector.
• Support collaboration with Local Authorities and partner organisations to raise awareness of NYA programmes and encourage engagement with Quality Standards.
• Utilise NYA tools, including CRM and Project Management systems, to help generate timely and relevant performance and financial reports that inform decision-making and support effective programme delivery.

 
Our ideal Local Quality Advisor should have the following:

• Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of programmes or projects within the youth work, education, or voluntary sector.
• Strong understanding of youth work principles and the statutory duties of Local Authorities (particularly Section 507B).
• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including Local Authorities, partner organisations, and internal teams.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to the development of resources and reports.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Competence in using digital tools such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and project management platforms. Experience of using project management platform (or similar) would be an advantage
• A proactive, flexible, and agile approach to working across multiple programmes, including attending events and responding to time-sensitive deadlines.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a dynamic and evolving organisation.

Brain Tumour Research is seeking an experienced and motivated fundraiser to join our team. As a key part of our fundraising efforts in our West region, you will have the opportunity to drive income generation through a variety of initiatives, including challenge events, fundraising groups, and corporate partnerships such as charity of the year. Care4Calais is a volunteer-led humanitarian charity providing essential aid and support to refugees and asylum seekers in Northern France and across the UK. From providing warm clothing, English classes to legal access, education, and social support, we work tirelessly—through a network of grassroots volunteers and a small, dedicated staff teams—to deliver life-changing help to displaced people. With operations in Calais, Dunkirk, and over 70 locations in the UK, our impact is wide-reaching and continually growing.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and oversee the strategic delivery of Care4Calais’ operational (direct aid provision) work across all regions. This is quite a newly created role that will play a central part in shaping the charity’s growth, resilience, and day-to-day effectiveness—ensuring our humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most.

The COO will work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Trustees, to develop internal systems, guide operational teams, maintain consistency across all projects, and strengthen our digital communications, training, safeguarding, and volunteer engagement. You will also play a key leadership role in fostering innovation, implementing policy, and coordinating multi-regional delivery across the UK and Northern France.

This is a remote-based role, but regular travel to operational sites in Calais and around the UK is essential to ensure quality, cohesion, and morale across our field teams and volunteer network.

Key Responsibilities

➣ Strategic & Operational Leadership

• Oversee the delivery of all operational activities across the UK and French field sites, ensuring they align with Care4Calais’ mission, values, and strategic goals.

• Lead and support UK Field Operations Managers and France Operations Coordinators in planning and executing aid distributions, support services, and community engagement.

• Monitor performance across regions, using data and feedback to drive improvements in impact, efficiency, safety, and volunteer satisfaction.

➣ Volunteer Coordination & Digital Community Oversight

• Supervise volunteer communication channels, including Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats, and other platforms, ensuring all messaging is consistent, safe, and in line with our organisational tone and values.

• Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of a diverse and inclusive volunteer base.

• Work daily with Field Operations Managers to provide hands-on guidance, motivation, problem-solving and support for regional leads and volunteer teams.

➣ Training, Safeguarding & Compliance

• Develop, maintain, and implement comprehensive training programmes for volunteers to ensure service quality, safety, and dignity for people seeking asylum.

• Ensure that safeguarding policies are understood by all team members, staff and volunteers alike, and rigorously implemented, acting as a point of escalation for issues that arise.

• Oversee incident reporting processes, risk assessments, and other compliance-related procedures to safeguard both volunteers and people seeking asylum.

➣ Organisational Development & Governance

• Contribute to strategic planning and policy development with the CEO, and SLT.

• Identify opportunities for innovation in service delivery, volunteer management, and infrastructure.

➣ Field Engagement & External Representation

• Conduct regular visits to UK and French operational sites, meeting with local teams, assessing needs, and providing in-person leadership and support.

• Represent Care4Calais in meetings with partner organisations and local authorities, and at public events.

Person Specification

Essential

• Demonstrable experience managing multi-site teams.

• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and manage competing priorities.

• Deep understanding of issues affecting asylum seekers, displaced people, or those facing immigration challenges.

• Commitment to anti-racism, inclusivity, and the promotion of human rights.

• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to field operations across the UK and Calais.

Desirable

• Proven experience in a senior operational, COO, or equivalent leadership role within the charity, humanitarian or grassroots community sector.

• Experience working with refugee communities or within the UK asylum system.

• Understanding of safeguarding, compliance, and humanitarian best practices.
