Sporting Assets is the leading provider of advisory and investment management services to the sport and physical activity sector in the UK.  We manage impact investment funds that provide affordable patient loans to community-based organisations delivering impact through sport and physical activity. Investors and stakeholders in our funds include Sport England, National Governing Bodies, Trusts and Foundations such as the Bank Workers Charity, and Impact Investors including the Access Foundation and Better Society Capital.

Beyond our funds, we provide business advisory services to the sector, helping organisations such as clubs, infrastructure bodies and NGBs build capacity, develop investment cases and business plans to secure funding and finance plus other outcomes such as tenure to become more sustainable and impactful. 

We work across the public, private, and charitable sectors, delivering practical, specialist advice backed by deep expertise in community engagement, enterprise and facility development, finance, and impact investing. Our advisory work equips organisations with the tools and capacity to deliver effectively, while our investments build more sustainable and impactful community sport enterprises.

In addition to our London office, we have recently opened an office in Leeds.

Role

As a Senior Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to deliver a range of projects within the Advisory team. Reporting directly to the Head of Advisory, you will be responsible for:

• Project Leadership and Delivery. Leading and managing advisory projects from inception to delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes for clients.
• Strategic and Operational Client Support. Providing client-facing support across business planning, financial sustainability, governance, stakeholder engagement, and impact measurement.
• Enterprise Growth and Community Development. Working closely with clients, funders and partners to deliver support and guidance enabling enterprise growth and community development within the sport and physical activity sector.
• Investment Readiness Support. Contributing to the development of new services and business opportunities aligned with our mission, including supporting our investment team to deliver investment readiness support across our fund portfolios.

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential

• Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in a consultancy, strategic, or senior programme role within the social and community enterprise sector, ideally in sport and physical activity.
• Strong track record of managing multiple projects and prioritising effectively under pressure.
• Deep understanding of how the community and social enterprise sector, ideally through sport, can contribute to wider social outcomes, including health, wellbeing, regeneration, inclusion, and community resilience.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage credibly with a diverse range of people and organisations including marginalised communities and senior leaders from public, commercial and community organisations.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent empathy and active listening skills with the ability to connect with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Proven business coaching and mentoring skills supporting individuals and community organisations.

Desirable

• Experience in financial modelling, business planning and investment readiness support with a clear understanding of the key drivers of profitability and sustainable growth.
• Working knowledge of the legal and governance structures available to community based and socially driven organisations ideally including those operating in sport and physical activity.
• Working knowledge of community and social investment plus funding landscapes.
• Operational experience of community organisations and social enterprises, ideally in sport.
• Understanding of social impact measurement and reporting, including methods such as SROI, outcomes frameworks, theory of change and Power BI.

Purpose of the role

To support the communications team in raising the profile of Day One, primarily on social media and with a focus on short-form video content. 

As a staff ambassador for Day One, championing our values and behaviours and being committed to the difference that Day One makes is essential. The role sits within our Fundraising and Communications Department and will support the wider team.

Key responsibilities 

The post holder’s primary duties and responsibilities are as follows: 

• Lead the day-to-day management of Day One's social networks 
• Create content for Day One’s social media accounts, website and email marketing 
• Create video content for Day One’s social media channels and YouTube 
• Work closely with Day One’s Services Team to identify patient stories which demonstrate the charity’s impact

What we’ll need from you

This job is all about supporting the communications team in raising the profile of Day One, primarily on social media and with a focus on short-form video content. You’ll need to be a great communicator and creative thinker with a passion for making great digital content. You will work closely with our service users, volunteers and staff to make compelling content for social media in both written and video form. You will need to be creative, proactive, empathetic and adaptable. Working closely with our fundraising and communications team, you’ll ensure people remain at the heart of our work by telling powerful stories that resonate with our audiences and effectively communicate the impact of major trauma and the support Day One provides. As we are a small organisation, you will need to be ready to support the wider team with fundraising and service delivery projects.

Who you’ll be working with

You’ll work as a key member of our friendly, experienced and enthusiastic communications and fundraising team. We're a small, hard-working team with big ambitions, but we still make the time to support each other. You’ll be line-managed by me (Digital Communications Officer), and work alongside our Communications Manager Dave and Marketing and Communications Officer Harriet. You’ll be supported by our Fundraising and Communications Director, a supportive SLT and board of trustees, and work alongside six fantastic fundraising colleagues. This position is new for the charity, so there is lots of scope for you to carve out the role and make it your own. We’ll support you, so together we can become the charity that communication professionals want to work for: because of the impact we have on the lives of major trauma patients and their families, our inclusive culture, professional development opportunities and exceptional communications.

SCOPE OF WORK

1. Grantmaking Due Diligence & Onboarding

• Coordinate the collection, review, and secure storage of due diligence documentation from prospective grantees.

• Assist with risk screening checks and internal reviews in alignment with Purposeful’s grantmaking policies.

• Prepare grantee onboarding documentation, including grant agreements and orientation materials.

• Track submission of required onboarding documents (e.g., bank forms, MoUs, safeguarding policies).

• Monitor and keep track of the grants due for payment.

• Respond to grantee and applicant inquiries and proactively update them on the status of their grant awards.

2. Grant Compliance & Documentation

• Monitor compliance status of all active grants, flagging outstanding requirements and follow-up needs.

• Ensure that compliance-related deadlines (e.g. reporting dates, grant conditions) are met and documented.

• Maintain clean, well-organised, and accessible digital grant files, using existing tools or systems (e.g., Google Drive, Netsuite, Salesforce, etc.) to ease retrieval and generation of reports.

• Support internal checks to ensure that funds are disbursed in line with compliance protocols and funding agreements.

3. Finance Coordination

• Liaise with the finance team to prepare and verify payment documents, banking instructions, and payment schedules.

• Support alignment between grant budgets and payment disbursements.

• Track the movement of funds across grants, ensuring appropriate documentation is in place for each transaction.

4. Donor & Internal Reporting

• Assist in preparing compliance-related sections of donor reports and internal grantmaking summaries.

• Track reporting obligations by donor or partner, and ensure all documentation is collected and filed on time, including any relevant country-specific compliance requirements.

5. Audit & Policy Support

• Prepare documentation for internal and external audits, including sampling, document summaries, and data extractions.

• Assist in developing and maintaining internal tools (templates, checklists, trackers) related to grant compliance.

• Contribute to ongoing improvements in Purposeful’s compliance systems, bringing in lessons learned and audit feedback, and emerging regulatory or legal considerations relevant to our work.

Scope of Work

1. Financial Data Entry & Reconciliation

• Enter and reconcile day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system, including expenses, transfers, payments, and receipts.

• Ensure all entries are accurately coded to the appropriate cost centres, grants, or funding streams.

• Review and reconcile staff expense claims, payment vouchers, and supporting documentation.

2. Budgeting & Grant Allocations

• Support the allocation of expenditure to budget lines across multiple funding sources, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

• Maintain the habit to monitor actual spend against budgets using existing systems (Netsuite), highlighting any anomalies or risks.

• Assist in the preparation of internal budget summaries and financial snapshots for program and leadership teams.

3. Financial Reporting

• Assist in compiling donor financial reports by collecting, reviewing, and formatting financial data in line with donor requirements.

• Liaise with grants and programme teams to ensure alignment between financial and narrative reports.

• Maintain up-to-date and audit-ready documentation to support all reporting outputs.

4. Managing Fiscal Sponsorship Financial Reports

• Ensuring that income from fiscal sponsorship partners are accurately recorded

• Preparing regular income and expenditure reports for fiscal sponsorship partners and addressing reconciling items. 

• Represent the Finance team in update meetings with potential  or current fiscal partners.

5. Audit & Compliance Support

• Organise financial documentation and support sampling processes during internal and external audits.

• Maintain orderly and accessible digital and physical filing systems for all financial records.

• Support implementation of financial policies, templates, and compliance checks, working closely with the Head of Finance.

The symptoms of bipolar can emerge at any age and the condition is increasingly affecting young people, who are more likely to screen positive than older generations. It also has a profound impact on the families and friends of those affected and the need for a dedicated national bipolar charity has never been greater.

Bipolar UK is the only national charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by bipolar, and we offer peer support at the core of our work. Our aim is to provide a nationwide Peer Support Service for people affected by bipolar and increase the reach of our delivery. Role: Fundraising Supporter Engagement Assistant (Apprentice)

Contract: 13-month fixed term contract with a view to be permanent after completion of apprenticeship

Bipolar UK is seeking a Fundraising Supporter Engagement Assistant to aid the Fundraising Team in donor stewardship and to enabling growth in the organisation’s supporter base across all income streams.

This role is an apprenticeship with the apprentice programme starting September 2025, provided by Apprentify - an industry-led apprenticeship provider.

The successful candidate will learn and work on the job at Bipolar UK whilst receiving 20% off-the-job training from industry experts, which will be led through virtual classrooms.

In summary the Fundraising Supporter Engagement Assistant will support the fundraising team in growing the community, individual and events fundraising income streams, and be the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries.

• Ensure that all our fundraisers and donors are thanked in an appropriate manner, developing a robust stewardship programme.

• Support fundraising volunteers in a professional but empathetic way.

About the Program

The Europe Regional Finance program has evolved out of our Financial Regulation and Policy Program that began in 2019 with a narrow focus on European central banks. Since then, we've expanded to shape financial regulation and policy globally to accelerate clean energy and create lasting systemic change in how public finance addresses climate challenges. Now the Europe Regional Finance program will focus on EU Policy and Finance and UK Policy and Finance. 

About The Role

Working closely with the Program Director, the Program Manager adapts and manages the Europe Regional Finance program to ensure the program team delivers on its objectives and goals. The role requires high-level coordination and support to a team working across Europe, leading campaign planning and evaluation processes, grant management, while coordinating the program's budgeting and re-forecasting. 

The Program Manager ensures the effectiveness of the Europe Regional Finance Program by managing and coordinating its various projects, overseeing budgets and grant cycles, implementing team effectiveness initiatives, and supporting the development and execution of program planning, monitoring and evaluation processes.

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations. 

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement robust planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes and foster a culture that recognises the importance of failure and learning in the pursuit of greater impact, identifying ways of measuring impact and success.
• Manage a multi-million dollar campaign budget, including tracking spending to stay on budget, reporting on our spending to donors and internal audiences, and advising on a partner grants plan and resourcing plan.
• Manage the entire program’s grant portfolio, ensuring efficient management and processing of grants to support program delivery. This includes providing guidance to team members on grant processes, tracking and monitoring grant payments, authoring and reviewing grant dockets and memos as appropriate, working with other program teams on grants as needed, and ensuring timely follow-up and feedback with partners. 
• Oversee program’s contracts, including the hiring and onboarding of necessary new agency partnerships, contracts, and temp employees, and tracking and monitoring contract payments.

The Role 
 
Reporting to the Retail Development Manager, the Retail Development Officer will support with the continued growth and development of our retail network.

The role holder will actively support the Retail Development Manager to build, deliver, and implement a pipeline of new sites development in retail, including shops, cafes and superstores, Yorkshire Cancer Research Centres, and other retail related projects. 

You will have responsibility of supporting the Retail Development Manager with market analysis and feasibility studies of potential new sites, contributing to the development of business cases, projects plans and delivery of these plans as well as contributing to compliance and ongoing maintenance and required improvements within the retail real estate. There will also be an opportunity for the role holder to inform future decision making through the delivery of business insight, KPI data and other metric reports relating to income. 

Specifically, you will: 

New Developments in Retail 

• Support the Retail Development Manager in exploring and identifying the best locations for new shop openings, including market analysis, feasibility study, site visits, and site presentation. 

• Assist in developing business cases for each new shop, ensuring they are financially viable and key decisions are documented. 

• Support the development of project plans for shop openings, closures, and refits by ensuring suppliers, tradespeople and internal stakeholders are engaged and informed of key dates. 

• Maintain and nurture relationships with appointed property agents to develop a pipeline of potential new shops. 

• Support where possible the recruitment process for new shop managers and volunteers and ensure this is complete in time for each new shop opening. 

• Work alongside the Retail Development Manager to identify new suppliers, ensuring they are suitable, competent, and aligned to our values. 

• Work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure new shops are in good condition and compliance documents are in place before being handed over to operate under business-as-usual activities. 

• Work collaboratively with the Retail Area Manager, with regards to monitoring compliance with retail policies and procedures, as well as Health & Safety standards. 

• Act as a visible leader in relation to all health and safety responsibilities, taking reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others. Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements, processes and procedures. 

• Assist as a contact for leasing and tenancy negotiations and discussions with relevant internal and external stakeholders. 

• Support the Retail Development Manager in developing and testing new income streams, processes, and systems before moving to business-as-usual activities. 

• Undertake regular shop visits/shop floor inspections, directing and supporting the team to deliver creative and inspiring layouts, space planning and use of point of sale to ensure that each shop maximises its sales potential, and that the visual presentation of the shops represents the brand image of Yorkshire Cancer Research. 

Retail Estate Development  

• Support the Retail Development Manager, Retail Area Manager, Director of Retail & Operations, and Shop Managers in regularly reviewing our current retail estate, identifying maintenance and other improvements required. 

• Assist in developing business cases for each project, ensuring they are financially viable and key decisions are documented. 

• Support development of project plans for refurbishments and improvements by ensuring suppliers, tradespeople and internal stakeholders are engaged and informed of key dates. 

Other duties: 

• Support the development and execution of the ten-year Retail business strategy. 

• Deliver key business insight to drive improvements through analysis. 

• Provide regular KPI and metric reports on income to inform future decision making and planning. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be ideally educated to A Level or equivalent or able to demonstrate experience in a similar role at a similar level.
