Job purpose
This is an exciting time to join Action for ME. Key duties
1. Leadership
- Ensure that children and adults with ME are at the heart of everything we do through meaningful engagement and participation to influence all aspects of our work.
- Deputise for the CEO and represent and promote the Charity at national meetings and events.
- Deputise for the CEO during periods of absence, and in relation to specific matters, issues or elements of operation as delegated from time to time by the CEO, ensuring a consistency of approach and decisions aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
- With the CEO and HR Business Partner, lead on implementing the People and Culture Strategy and ensuring our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging plan is achieved.
- To provide support, leadership and coaching to the Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the organisation and development of the Charity.
- Contribute to the development of the overall strategy for Action for ME, ensuring that the best use is made of available resources within agreed priorities. Ensure that agreed strategy is delivered to target and in line with agreed budgets.

2. Operations & management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Charity ensuring high quality service provision that meets all best practice, legal and regulatory frameworks and internal policies and procedures.
- Hold overall management responsibility for our Healthcare Services including the role of the CQC Nominated Individual, ensuring all regulatory requirements and compliance are met.
- Manage the staff and volunteer team, including holding regular meetings and ensure the efficient running of the office ensuring a culture that supports, inspires and motivates the team while ensuring required standards and quality are met at all times through effective performance management.
- Act as the organisational Designated Safeguarding Lead (children and vulnerable adults), working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Officers, colleagues and the Safeguarding Lead Trustee; facilitate the annual safeguarding audit (led by the Lead Trustee) and ensuring safeguarding standards across the organisation are maintained.
- Contribute to the learning and development of key personnel including coaching support (either directly or through the identification of external coaches) to enhance performance.
- Establish (where not already in place) and maintain a clear performance outcome-focused management system driving positive change and improvement across all teams.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are effectively implemented and kept up-to-date to enable the effective management of operations and support growth.
- Take the lead role for data protection, health and safety, compliance and risk management across the organisation and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
3. Finance & income generation
- Hold financial leadership responsibility, working closely with the Finance Manager and the Fundraising Director to ensure sustainability for our work.
- Ensure effective financial management with procedures in place which are kept up-to-date and implemented accordingly.
- Provide support and engagement, where appropriate, to actively grow our income.
4. Working with others
- Lead, nurture and develop relationships with key stakeholder groups and partner organisations, both locally and nationally, supporting Action for M.’s place as the ‘go to’ organisation for people affected by ME
- Lead on new business ideas and pilot projects in line with the strategic objectives; with colleagues, develop the business case, identify and manage risks, lead implementation across teams, evaluate success and learning and make recommendations for future development.

Person specification
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in an operations, leadership, or senior management role, ideally within the charity service delivery or healthcare sector, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans that drive organisational growth and reporting that demonstrates impact delivered. If you come from outside a support services background, you must demonstrate sound understanding of the regulatory and best practice requirements related to delivering support and/or healthcare services.
- An understanding of ME and associated/overlapping illnesses, the impact on people affected by it or a commitment and ability to understand the illness and lead services to meet the needs of children and adults with ME

Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Innovation:
- Design and deliver a fundraising strategy that scales ProVeg’s income from major donors, climate (and other relevant) foundations, and institutional funders.
- Identify and pursue new revenue streams aligned with our climate and food system mission.
Collaborate with leadership to strengthen our theory of change, donor engagement frameworks, and funding cases.
Donor & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate and steward relationships with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, foundations, corporate contacts and strategic partners.
- Represent ProVeg in donor meetings and high-level external events.
- Support the Senior Leadership Team and President in managing key donor relationships.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and grow the international fundraising function to increase income, capacity, and global reach.
- Drive team culture and performance, fostering professional development and a focus on measurable outcomes.
Cross-Organisational Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Communications, Programme, Finance, MEL, and Country teams to strengthen our fundraising infrastructure, materials, and processes.
- Ensure effective fundraising data management and internal reporting systems.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of senior-level fundraising experience, ideally with major donors and foundations in the US and/or Europe.
- Proven track record of securing six-figure + gifts, including new donor acquisition and multi-year commitments.
- Deep understanding of the climate philanthropy and/or food system transformation space.
- Experience working in international NGOs or with cross-country fundraising collaboration.
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills across sectors and cultures.
- Strong writing and proposal development skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable building systems, not just managing them.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (minimum C2-level English).
- Strong analytical skills and experience measuring the success of fundraising activities.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with effective altruism and impact-led giving.
- Comfortable engaging in discussions around equity, justice, and sustainability in fundraising contexts.

We have an opportunity for an Executive Officer to join our Innovation Unit for six months.
At The National Lottery Community Fund we believe that innovation is the key to addressing complex challenges and creating transformative change. To support the implementation of our new strategy we launched a dedicated Innovation Unit to become the driving force behind our commitment to Innovation, equity, diversity, and inclusion. This Unit is now nearly 18 months into a 2 year pilot and is delivering significant work on AI, environmental regeneration, crisis support, and equity across health, funding and participation.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a small, high paced team that harnesses innovation to support change in one of the UK’s most significant funders. We deliver all our work through an equity lens, working for historically underserved communities using the curb cut effect. We are looking for someone to work across everything we deliver, supporting the team with a range of administrative, logistical and other project tasks whilst we embed our existing work in the organisation and look to the future of innovation at the Fund.
The role will provide critical support to the Innovation Unit throughout this transition period, with responsibilities including:
· Assisting in managing the adaptation, development, and implementation of innovation projects and activities.
· Supporting the process of embedding innovation pilots as business as usual across the Fund.
· Providing logistical support for sessions, events and at meetings including minute taking.
· Ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments.

About the Role
The Refugee and Migrant Centre is seeking to appoint two Employment Coaches, one full-time and one part-time – to support clients in overcoming barriers to employment and moving closer to the labour market.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide one-to-one employment support to clients, including CV building, job search assistance, interview preparation, and completing job applications.
· Assess clients' skills, experience, and employment goals to develop tailored action plans.
· Support clients in accessing training, work placements, and volunteering opportunities to enhance employability.
· Liaise with employers and training providers to identify suitable opportunities for clients.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, tracking progress and outcomes in line with organisational requirements.
· Work collaboratively with other teams and services within the organisation to provide holistic support.
· Support the delivery of employment workshops or group sessions where needed.
· Promote and uphold the values and policies of the Refugee and Migrant Centre in all aspects of work.
Essential Requirements:
· Minimum 2 years' experience working directly with clients on employment-related matters.
· IAG level 3 qualification or commitment to complete.
· Good knowledge of the UK job market, including current recruitment practices.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to build rapport and work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
· Organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied caseload.
· Competent in using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and online job search platforms.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
· Ability to speak additional languages relevant to the client base.
· Experience working with refugees, asylum seekers, or migrants.
· Understanding of welfare-to-work programmes or similar employability schemes.
· Experience in delivering group workshops or training sessions.
· Knowledge of local employment and training opportunities in the Birmingham area.
Flexibility
In order to deliver the stated aims of this post, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties will fall within the scope of the job within the appropriate pay grade.
