About the role

As part of the Employee Relations and HR Business Partnering Team, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, re-writing and maintaining Shelters HR policies, ensuring these are legally compliant, particularly with new legislation, aligned with strategic goals, and reflective of best practice. A core part of this role will be to work collaboratively with our employee affinity groups, trade unions and key internal stakeholders to ensure policies reflect diverse perspectives, promote inclusion and support positive employee relations.
 
Role specifics

As our HR Policy Officer, you will be CIPD qualified, up to date in UK Employment Law, ERA and HR best practice. You will draw on your HR experience to understand detail, and how ER processes are applied in a busy and diverse organisation. You will be able to write clear, consistence policies, procedures, management guides and flowcharts. 

You’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining clear, inclusive and legally compliant people policies that support Shelter’s work. You’ll research and draft policies, guidance and tools, ensuring they reflect legislation, best practice and organisational needs, while working closely with colleagues, trade unions and affinity groups to gather insight and build engagement. You’ll provide expert advice to managers and HR colleagues on how policies are applied, helping to ensure consistency and confidence across the organisation. You’ll also support the rollout of new policies through clear communications, training and accessible resources, and help keep our HR systems up to date and easy to use.

About the Giving Directorate and Net Zero Carbon Programme

What you'll be doing
Legacies have historically played a transformative role for the Church of England - sustaining parish ministry, helping deliver the 30,000+ community projects run by parishes every year, conserving historic buildings and enabling important work for the future, including Net Zero Carbon projects. There is significant untapped potential for legacy giving to make an even bigger difference to our work, but awareness is uneven, and local church leaders often lack the training and resources to talk confidently about gifts in wills.

As the Gifts in Wills Manager, you will lead an ambitious new legacy programme to significantly expand the support and resources available for all parts of the Church of England to effectively encourage legacy giving. This will include creating new legacy giving resources that can be used by parishes, cathedrals and Dioceses as well as new training for local parish volunteers, clergy and senior leaders.

Gifts in wills have the potential for significantly enhancing the work of the church in caring for God's creation, being the culmination of a person's lifetime of commitment and care for the church and God's creation. The role will include specifically looking to develop NZC cases for support as a way to encourage gifts in wills, through linking the ongoing and perpetual care of God's creation with the long term impact of gifts in wills.
Through your work you will create a culture shift where legacy giving is demystified to become a natural part of Christian discipleship. The increased number and generosity of legacy gifts pledged and received will make a long-lasting impact on the financial ability of parishes, cathedrals, and dioceses to fund their ministry and social impact in the communities they serve.

The Helpline is open 7 days per week with a rolling rota consisting of shifts from 9am to 5pm and 3pm to 11pm, including weekends. Please note that this is an on-site role at the specified location. Remote working is not available for this position.

We are a leading provider of mental health services in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

As a Helpline Worker, you will be providing support for those experiencing mental health difficulties through Birmingham Mind’s helpline service. The helpline supports people living in the Birmingham and Solihull area.

The support offered will include (but is not exclusive to), receiving calls, emails and webchat from people who may be experiencing crisis, people looking for more general assistance and information about services, carers looking for advice and services, and other community support services. You will provide appropriate referrals and signposting information about Birmingham Mind services and external partner agencies.

You will be working in a community focused way to ensure that statutory and local organisations are aware of the provision, ensuring that you retain close and effective links with them as well as keeping up to date with any pertinent changes to local provision.

The helpline is a 7 day a week service open 9am -11pm. Under the direction of the service manager, you will support the running of the service in line with contractual requirements, Birmingham Minds Vision and Values, its operating Policy and Procedures, and any relevant legal requirements.

You will have at least 6 months’ experience in the mental health field, with experience of supporting people to be in control of their lives. The Loop delivers high quality, accessible, evidence-based and evidence-making drug checking services and to disseminate harm reduction information to individuals, service providers and policy makers. This is for the purpose of creating a safer society where everyone can access accurate, timely, and relevant information to make more informed decisions about drugs.

The Communications Lead will ensure that we are able to extend the reach and understanding of harm reduction related to drugs and alcohol. This post will ensure The Loop expands its profile and presence, capacity and response, to maximise the opportunities to communicate harm reduction messages and information, raises the awareness, access and understanding of drug checking, and engages stakeholders and members of the public.

This will require the postholder to:

- Coordinate and increase the capacity of The Loop to effectively communicate related to our aims and purpose

- Develop and disseminate social media content, in collaboration with colleagues across The Loop

- Work with partners of The Loop including press and media to further the profile of The Loop for strategic benefit and greater reach to the public.

You will be motivated to assist in the development and delivery of The Loop and possess knowledge of drugs-related harm reduction approaches including messaging, with related or transferable experience in communications. You will contribute and be part of a passionate team of staff and volunteers determined to further introduce drug checking and related harm reduction interventions across the UK.

The Alzheimer’s Society UK Dementia Trials Network (UKDTN) Trial Finder is an open-access platform that connects people living with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, their families, and healthcare professionals, with research opportunities across the UK. We are looking for a Clinical Trial Finder Officer who can ensure this platform is accurate, accessible, and meaningful. By raising awareness of, and widening access to, clinical trial opportunities, your work will help more people to take part in clinical trials and feel more in control of their journey.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Alzheimer’s Society UKDTN Research Nurse Programme, Research Communications team, Data and Digital teams, Participation team, and with a range of external partners to maintain the Trial Finder, respond to enquiries, and ensure that the platform is reliable, culturally informed and inclusive. Your attention to detail, organisational skills, and passion for supporting people affected by dementia will help make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
About the role

- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Trial Finder, keeping it reliable, user-friendly, and up-to-date.
- Maintain accurate, accessible, and approved study listings, ensuring clarity for all users.
- Implement and manage quality control processes, including version control, audit trails, and regular review of trial entries.
- Monitor user feedback and enquiries, resolving gaps and escalating technical issues while driving continuous improvement based on insights.
- Liaise with clinicians, NHS teams, study sponsors, and external stakeholders to verify trial details and maintain accurate contact and site information.
- Work collaboratively across Alzheimer’s Society teams, UKDTN patient workstream and wider dementia research stakeholders to coordinate updates, maintain consistency, and respond to queries.
- Track, report, and analyse key metrics on Trial Finder usage, reach, and impact, and support wider communications activity.
