In the role of Deputy Manager you will support the Service Manager at The Coninghams, which is a 24/7 complex needs hostel with 31 residents. We work with some of the most vulnerable clients in the borough using psychological and trauma-informed methods.

What does the role involve? 

The Finance officer is a new role in the Finance team at the British Pharmacological Society. The Finance Officer will work with the Financial Controller to ensure that all aspects of finance are operated effectively and efficiently. 

Who would suit this role? 

You will have experience working in a finance organisation and/or experience working for membership organisations. You should pay close attention to detail, and the ability to suggest and make improvements to procedures.  Additionally, you should be a good team player with strong interpersonal skills.

About the Role

The role involves working with sensitive and potentially traumatic subject matter and occasional travel to attend meetings will be required.

As Head of Witness Service Learning and Development, you will:

• Lead the design and delivery of a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with our values and culture.
• Champion trauma-informed, safeguarding-focused, and accessible learning across the service.
• Oversee and support onboarding induction and development for staff and volunteers, ensuring swift and effective deployment.
• Inspire and manage a dispersed L&D team, fostering high performance and innovation.
• Drive continuous improvement through data, evaluation, and quality assurance.
• Manage external learning providers and ensure value for money.
• Embed a learning culture across the Witness Service and contribute to broader people strategies.
• Develop an external learning arm to generate income and promote the Witness Service.

Key Deliverables:

• Delivery of impactful learning projects and plans
• Year-on-year improvement in workforce competence and service quality
• Implementation of a national L&D strategy
• Creation of income-generating external learning programmes

You will need:

• Proven experience as an L&D Manager or equivalent
• Expertise in designing and delivering diverse learning interventions
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Budget management and financial accountability
• Knowledge of adult learning, funding landscapes, and regulatory frameworks
• Emotional intelligence, empathy, and the ability to influence and inspire

The role follows “The Hestia Approach,” prioritising co-production, recovery, and partnership with service users.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end management of high-profile events, including leading on creating and delivering event concepts, working with key internal and external stakeholders, supplier management, event briefings and evaluating the event’s impact.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to create innovative event concepts and programmes to engage new and existing high-value supporters.
• Lead on the relationship with the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre to deliver best in class research tours that delight, engage and inspire high-value supporters.  This includes building relationships with stakeholders to effectively deliver recognition, stewardship and cultivation plans to ensure long term success.
• Work with the High Value Events team to support the Campaign board and team on the creation and delivery of Campaign-specific events.

• Proven experience in managing large-scale fundraising events, for high-net-worth audiences.
• Proven experience of successfully building relationships with high value supporters, senior volunteers, event committees and event attendees.
• Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving capability.

The Role
