Caseworker posts are for Mondays - Fridays, 9am to 5pm. The role is based at our office in Kings Cross. There are opportunities to work from home at times. This role will be worked over 2 days per week, set specific working days can be discussed in interview.

You will be part of the Financial Accounting and Control team within the Finance department and will act as the dedicated Financial Accountant, preparing statutory financial reporting and managing the year-end process, for your 'lead clients'. Whilst you will have autonomy and be expected to be able to work independently, you will also work collaboratively with the rest of the Financial Accounting and Control team to develop a high-quality finance service to the NCIs, including best practice external reporting and a robust financial control environment.

You will act as a mentor to more junior members of the team, using your skills and experience to support the Financial Accounting Officers to develop core accounting skills to manage effective balance sheet control and period-end processes and to prepare and submit compliance reporting using accurate and appropriate financial information.
An effective communicator, you will be able to explain financial issues to non-finance staff and to help people to use financial information well. You will deliver relevant training and support across departments to help improve financial literacy and ensure compliance with relevant financial control procedures.

You will be someone who is always looking to improve processes and worker smarter, collaborating with your finance colleagues to drive best practice in everything we do. You will be a confident Excel user, able to use Excel to design and build financial statements and reports which can be quickly and easily produced.

This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting

Responsible for preparing the group and subsidiary financial, including:

• Setting, agreeing and managing the year end timetable and communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Updating the accounts template annually, including review accounting policies and ensuring compliance with relevant reporting legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice within the charity sector (including but not limited to UK GAAP and Charity SORP)
• Reviewing the year-end trial balance and analysing key variances with previous years to identify potential omissions or misstatements
• Managing the external audit process, including being the primary point of contact with the auditors in planning and delivering the audit, liaising with other members of staff in Finance and other departments to deliver the auditors' requirements, preparing schedules to support each note to the financial statements and providing explanations when requested
• Preparing the Board and Committee reporting to support the presentation of the Accounts and presenting draft accounts for review and sign-off on behalf of the trustees as necessary
• Working with Communication Department and design company to prepare financial statements in format to be signed and published
• Ensuring accounts are signed off and submitted to Companies House or Charity Commission on time

Internal controls and compliance

Responsible for ensuring all income and expenditure (including capital expenditure) is correctly accounted for within a robust control environment, including:

• Managing the delivery of a smooth, well-controlled and timely month-end and year-end close, supporting with the Financial Accounting Officers to develop and improve this in line with best-practice
• Working with the Financial Accounting Officers and Financial Processing team to maintain a strong financial control environment ensuring that monthly reconciliations, checks and reviews are done and compliance with the journals policy

• Managing the Chart of Accounts structure to ensure consistency of approach across the NCIs, ensuring any changes are appropriate before actioning them
• Working with the Finance team to improve processes and systems and promote efficient working practices with an appropriate control framework
• Supporting the Financial Accounting Officers to prepare and submit compliance reporting using accurate and appropriate financial information (e.g. Office of National Statistics returns, Charity Commission Annual Returns).

Technical advice and support

Responsible for providing support and guidance on financial accounting practices, issues and problems, including:

• Working with the Finance Business Partnering team to advise departments on appropriate accounting treatments for new and continuing activities
• Ensuring legacies are accurately recorded and recognised, including overseeing the liaison with executors as necessary
• Keeping up to date with best practice and developments in financial reporting and the charity sector and proactively managing personal and continuing professional development
• Providing financial training and support to non-finance colleagues as required, promoting financial literacy across the NCIs

Cashflow forecasting

Ensuring effective cash management for the NCIs, including the development of regular cash flow reporting as required by each entity, including:

• Overseeing the production of daily, weekly, monthly and annual cashflow forecasting and monitoring spreadsheets and active management of cash balances to maintain the liquidity of all the NCIs while optimising the funds available for investment
• Managing short-term investments and cash deposits, including identifying opportunities, producing relevant analysis and reporting, and ensuring compliance with treasury policies
• Arranging Pensions Board funding drawdowns from the Revolving Credit Facility, monitoring borrowing levels and managing requirements for the CHARM bonds

Other

• Acting as a mentor to the Financial Accounting Officers, helping them to identify opportunities to grow their skills, and supporting them through advice and training
• Collaborating with other members of the Financial Accounting and Control team to ensure the delivery of all statutory reporting and year end processes across the NCIs, providing support for other areas as necessary
• Providing support for projects within the Finance team (which could include for example, process improvement projects, system projects, implementation of new processes and solutions etc.)
• Developing excellent working relationships and clear communication with the Finance Business Partners, to ensure a consistent understanding of activities across the NCIs, and that this is reflected accurately in both statutory and management reporting
• Undertaking other ad hoc tasks as required to ensure the Finance team delivers to its customers

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

Education:

• CCAB or equivalent professional accounting body qualification

Knowledge/Experience:

• Good technical financial accounting skills and thorough understanding of relevant accounting standards, including FRS 102 and Charities SORP
• Experience gained from working as a financial accountant or external auditor covering all aspects of statutory reporting for a large organisation

Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel and strong finance system skills, with a good understanding of data structures and chart of accounts optimisation
• Ability to manipulate data, analyse information, identify anomalies and extract pertinent information. Excellent attention to detail
• Well organised with an ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Good communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral, able to communicate effectively with finance professionals, senior management and trustees, and non-accountants to achieve cooperation and results
• Proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic

About the role 
 
In this role you’ll have responsibility for the end-to-end change life cycle, leading the people side of change connected to Enterprise Foundations, including changes to ways of working and cultural change. 

You’ll work with stakeholders to solve complex challenges, guiding and influencing them through critical transformation. You’ll also provide change leadership that enables these stakeholders to achieve their transformation goals and better deliver their strategic objectives. 
 
Leading on organisational design and operating model change connected to Enterprise Foundations, you’ll ensure that it is resourced appropriately and linking it to other organisational design work across BHF. 

You’ll also liaise with Transformation Directors, our Head of Organisational Change, Head of Internal Communications, People Business Partners and the team to support our People Experience, Technology strategy and the delivery of BHF’s strategy to 2030 – a key aspect of which is delivering technology transformation through the Enterprise Foundations programme. 

Working arrangements

About you 
 
You’ll have previous experience influencing stakeholders and gaining buy-in to change, communication and engagement activities. You’ll also be able to create and implement change plans that are tailored to the needs of Enterprise Foundations, enabling the successful transition to new ways of working. 

With a Post Graduate qualification in organisational change/business change/behaviour, or equivalent experience, you’ll have previous knowledge and application of change models and organisational design principles, being able to identify the cultural shift needed to achieve strategic technology transformation, translating that into interventions to deliver and embed behaviour and culture change.

Able to work with senior leaders you’ll be able to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders which support behavioural change to enable successful technology transformation is essential.  

You'll have a passion for solving complex business challenges, and will have strong problem-solving skills being able to exercise mature judgement, flexing plans where necessary to achieve impact.

To be successful in this role, you’ll also have:

• Project management experience

Purpose of the role:

The HR, People and Culture Manager is a recently created role at Back Up in response to our continuous growth and services expansion.

People are central to Back Up’s work. The ideal candidate will be able to both take a lead in defining our future approach to our human resources and fostering a positive workplace culture whilst also providing hands on delivery, and ensuring compliance with UK employment laws. They will help us ensure we have the right people, in the right place at the right time and will support our team members to realise their full potential.

They will oversee the operational management of HR activities, providing tools which empower our organisations leaders and ensure best practice is followed throughout the Charity, while enhancing the overall employee experience.

The role requires strong operational HR knowledge, with a clear understanding of end-to-end HR processes and risk management, ensuring robust foundations are in place as the function continues to develop strategically.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

Recruitment and Staffing:

· Oversee best practice in inclusive recruitment, including impactful and engaging job

postings, screening, interviewing, reasonable adjustments and onboarding of new staff and

Trustees.

· Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective

recruitment strategies in order to recruit high performing staff which share Back Up’s values.

· Ensure our role descriptions are consistent and in line with the charities current and future

requirements.

· Manage the onboarding for new team members ensuring it is smooth and consistent.

· Ensure team members have the best possible start at Back Up including orientation and

feeling of belonging at the Charity.

· Oversee delivery of exit interviews and analyse feedback to improve retention strategies.

· Prepare contracts and ensure all required paperwork and legal checks are completed accurately and efficiently.

· Deliver comprehensive HR inductions for new staff, ensuring access to policies,

procedures, and essential information from day one.

Employee Relations and Culture:

· Foster a positive and inclusive workplace environment where employees feel valued and

engaged.

· Act as a first point of contact for employee concerns and conflicts, facilitating resolution

and providing support.

· Work with the charity staff Wellbeing Group and Diversity and Inclusion Group to promote

employee well-being initiatives, activities which support an inclusive workplace and

engagement activities to enhance morale.

· Working with the SMT develop a programme of internal communications relating to people management, organisational culture and behaviours

Payroll and Benefits:

· Manage monthly payroll, pension contributions, and employee benefits administration, ensuring records are accurate and staff inquiries are addressed promptly.

· Prepare letters and update the HR system to reflect any changes in employee contracts.

Learning and Development:

· Support the SMT to identify training needs and implement professional development programmes for staff and trustees which are tailored to individual and Charity goals.

· Work closely with the People Development volunteer supporting team member coaching, awareness and self-development.

· Review and coordinate the induction programme and ongoing training for existing staff to ensure continuous learning and development.

· Lead on our e-learning programme, ensuring training not only meets regulatory requirements but inspires and helps team members grow and develop. Ongoing management of the platform.

Performance Management:

· Oversee performance appraisal process in line with Charity’s values and behaviours.

· Provide support and guidance to managers on performance-related issues.

· Line Management of HR administrator providing clear direction, development support and quality assurance across HR administration

Best Practice, Policy Development and Compliance:

· Review and update our staff handbook and HR policies and procedures using Back Up’s tone of voice and ensuring compliance with UK employment law and best practice.

· Ensure all staff are aware of and understand HR policies and procedures through effective communication and training.

· Conduct salary and benefits benchmarks and identify other initiatives which can enhance our employee value proposition and to ensure that the Charity remain competitive and a place where people want to work.

· Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and recommend necessary adjustments to policies.

· Support us to be leaders in inclusive workplace practices delivery of the Disability Confident scheme.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Collaborate with the SMT to align People and Culture operational practice with Charity goals.

· Oversee annual staff survey.

· Manage HR-related budgets, including training and development costs.

· Provide ad-hoc reports and analysis on HR metrics to inform decision-making.

· Support the ethical and responsible use of AI and other technologies across the charity to support our ability to deliver for people with spinal cord injury.

We are looking for a dynamic Events Fundraising Officer to help recruit and support our fundraisers, assist with the organisation of events and help us to develop this significant income stream.

Working alongside the Challenge Events Manager, the Events Fundraising Officer is instrumental in every step of delivering well-managed, fun and safe events for our corporate partners and event participants, as well as ensuring the fundraising success of each event.

Excellent communication and people skills will be essential as you will play a key role in building up relationships with the clients, the participants and their supporters. Furthermore, you will be involved in the whole process of event organisation, including developing the event, preparing the resources, helping with logistics, maintaining accurate records, reporting and banking and thanking. 

The Fundraising Officer must be self-motivated, well organised, able to multi-task, a strong administrator, a fantastic team player, have excellent inter-personal skills and enjoy being outdoors.  Paid or voluntary experience in a fundraising environment is essential.  This is a great opportunity for somebody looking to take the next step in their career, with plenty of scope to develop your skills and experience within a supportive team. Whilst the role is home-based you must live in the South West to ensure easy access for in-person meetings.

At the Youth Adventure Trust, we use outdoor adventure to empower vulnerable young people from Swindon, Wiltshire and Somerset to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future. About Beyond the Streets

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centered support, provide training for the third sector and statutory professionals, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience. Our training and partnership work seeks to equip professionals to understand the sex industry, particularly survival sex, and to support them to engage with women selling sex in a trauma-informed way.

This role is essential in our continual drive for increased impact and quality across all of our work.You will lead on the quality assurance of all programme delivery across a defined area, working closely with the appropriate Delivery and Partnership Team’s Regional/Country Lead/s. The Role

Having launched our Youth Adventure Programmes in Somerset in 2024, we are now looking for somebody who wants to take the next step in their fundraising career to build on the foundations of the last two years and significantly increase our presence in the county. 

As our Regional Corporate Fundraiser,  you'll be the driving force behind our local business partnerships, working with both large companies operating in the region and smaller local businesses looking to support their communities. 

Your role will encompass:

• Relationship building: Identifying and securing new corporate partnerships while providing high-quality stewardship to our existing Somerset-based supporters.

• Community Engagement: Championing our work in Somerset by giving engaging talks to community groups and networking with local businesses.

• Event delivery: Playing a key role in delivering local fundraising challenge events, the bi-annual Somerset Adventure Dinner and developing new opportunities to unite the Somerset business community behind our mission.

You'll work closely with the Corporate Partnership Manager and the Director of Fundraising and Communications to ensure each proposal is bespoke and every corporate partner understands the impact of their support on local young people.  You must live in Somerset, have a good local awareness and be willing to travel around the county and beyond to nurture long-lasting, strategic relationships.

Purpose of the Job 
Supporting the step change in growth of the Statutory, Trusts and Foundations income stream.

Duties & Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with Manager and Senior Managers to manage portfolio through excellent stewardship
• Supporting the creation of a high-quality pipeline of new funding opportunities
• Manage a portfolio of low-level trusts and foundations, with opportunity to progress to mid-level funders

Product Marketing Coordinator

This role is critical in ensuring Dot Dot Dot’s property offer meets market demand, business needs, and our social mission.

You will manage key parts of the property product lifecycle - from defining value propositions and preparing properties for launch, through to marketing, viewings, and quality control. Working closely with Marketing and Services teams, you’ll help ensure our properties are well‑positioned, well‑presented, and successfully filled.

This is a varied, hands‑on role combining strategic thinking with operational delivery, and desk‑based work with regular visits to properties. You’ll be supported in role by our senior marketing coordinator and head of marketing and business development.

The fundamentals of the role

Marketing and sales enablement

• Develop property messaging, value propositions, and supporting materials.
• Ensure each property has strong visual assets, including photography, video, and written content.
• Create and maintain property information sheets for internal and external use.
• Coordinate property‑related communications, including Mailchimp viewing emails and location‑based social media content.
• Work with the Marketing team to deliver campaigns, promotions, and go‑to‑market activity.

Viewings organisation and coordination

• Plan, schedule, and continuously improve the property viewings process.
• Supervise and support a small team of property viewing assistants (PVAs), including training, quality oversight, and timesheet approval.
• Ensure PVAs have accurate, up‑to‑date product information, sales guidance, and customer engagement support.
• Occasionally attend viewings to assess quality and gather feedback.

Go-to-market planning and execution

• Visit properties to understand condition, local context, and customer appeal.

We are looking for a senior funding leader who is comfortable operating as a “department of one” within a small but ambitious organisation. Trusts and Foundations prospecting and bid writing will form a core part of the role, working closely with the CEO and senior team. Beyond that, you will build and steward high-value funder relationships, develop and secure corporate partnerships aligned with our values, test new income models, and help us adapt confidently to a fast-changing landscape.

This is a senior leadership position. You will work closely with the CEO and Head of Finance to shape organisational direction and build a resilient, full-cost-recovery funding model that protects quality, depth and long-term impact.

This is a remote role, with a requirement to regularly attend meetings and events (mainly London but on occasions project areas elsewhere in the UK).
