Interim Senior Financial Controller (6-Month FTC)

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Financial Controller to join a highly regarded educational and charitable organisation in central London on a six-month fixed-term contract to provide stability while they recruit permanently. 

Reporting to the Finance Bursar you will provide leadership to an established finance team while overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of a complex organisation. This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact, ensuring robust financial control, delivering an efficient finance service, and supporting the continued embedding of a recently implemented finance system.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading month-end and year-end financial accounting processes, ensuring an accurate and timely trial balance.
• Managing financial operations including purchase-to-pay, billing, income collection, cash management and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting year-end audit processes and statutory reporting requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with charity, tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT and Gift Aid.
• Driving continuous improvement across finance systems, controls and processes.
• Leading, coaching and developing a transactional finance team.
• Acting as a key finance business partner to senior stakeholders across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) with substantial financial accounting experience gained within a medium to large organisation. You will have a proven track record of leading teams, improving processes and maintaining strong financial controls within a complex environment.

Experience within the education, charity or not-for-profit sectors would be advantageous, although candidates from other sectors with relevant technical expertise will also be considered.

Headlines Craniofacial Support is a UK-based charity providing information, advice and support to individuals and families affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions.  The charity works closely with professional partners, including the 5 NHS Designated Specialist Craniofacial Units across the UK.

Craniosynostosis is a condition where two or more of the plates in the skull fuse prematurely, requiring medical support from a young age. Around 350 children are born with craniosynostosis each year in the UK.

Established by group of parents in 1993, Headlines now has over 2,500 members.  Within our charity offer we send out regular newsletters and an annual magazine, Headline News.  We also support families to connect through events such as an annual Family Weekend, conferences and Days Out, and provide information through our helpline and access to psychological support.  We have private social media groups and specific groups within our membership who meet regularly including Cranio Dads, Young Persons Network and a Teens Group.

After 8 successful years, our current Director will be retiring in 2026 and we are now seeking an enthusiastic, inspirational and proactive individual to take up the reins.This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established, respected national charity at an important moment of transition.

Key responsibilities

The Executive Director will hold day-to-day responsibilities, working closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to provide effective leadership and operational management of the charity. Specifically, they will:

• Act as an ambassador for the charity, liaising with members, health professionals and with wider community and provide day-to-day management of Headlines staff and activities, setting objectives in line with the operational plan.

Essential criteria

• An understanding of the importance of the charity’s values and priorities.
• Evidence of inclusive, innovative and proactive leadership, with demonstrable experience of fundraising and income generation.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with experience organising events and activities.
• Experience of successfully managing budgets and developing new and sustainable funding streams.

Other information

Headlines hosts events and fundraising activities throughout the whole of the UK. All Headlines staff are expected to work flexibly to support those activities as required, e.g. attendance at Annual Family Weekend, conferences, member events, supporter receptions and other related scientific meetings and conferences. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term basis.
This is an important role supporting accurate, timely and compliant financial management across RSBC. You’ll take responsibility for key finance processes including income reconciliations, journals, VAT returns, month-end preparation and audit-ready documentation.

About the programme: ABC Parents Programme

The ABC Parents Programme empowers parents from the most deprived wards in Enfield and Haringey to increase their confidence and improve appropriate use of services across health and social care through child health workshops and networks of peer-to-peer support for parents.

The programme is delivered in community venues by a range of staff working in children’s community health services and Child Health Champions. They are supported by multi-agency practitioners from the hospital, primary care and voluntary sectors in Enfield and Haringey.

The programme is delivered in partnership with North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust (NMUH), The Bridge Renewal Trust, Every Parent and Child, Public Health Haringey, NCL CCG and other local multi-sector agencies.

About the role: Child Health Community Champions

The Child Health Champions Lead will recruit and provide ongoing support to a small team of Child Health Community Champions (CHCC). This will include:

· Supporting professional development through carrying out training needs assessments of the CHCCs and identifying appropriate training

· Alongside the Project Coordinator, planning workshops incorporating CHCCs strengths

· Holding regular meetings and quarterly Wellbeing sessions with CHCCs

· Being responsible for the recruitment and deployment of creche workers where required

About you:

You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and caring individual who understands community engagement and has experience of successfully managing a community project and providing group leadership.

The Child Health Champions Lead will be employed by Every Parent & Child and will work as a member of the ABC Parents Program Team based at NMUH.

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Engaging Community Champions

· Actively recruit new Child Health Community Champions (CHCC) and support their training.

· Working with the CHCC, identify professional training needs, develop ideas through to delivery.

· Arrange regular meetings with the CHCC to provide support and seek feedback to support monitoring and the impact of their intervention.

· Liaise with the Project Co-ordinator in planning sessions/workshops, working to the strengths of the CHCC. The Child Health Champions Lead will be parent-facing, on-site at community sessions when required.

· To organise quarterly Wellbeing sessions for CHCC.

· To liaise with CHCC to manage their attendance at workshops.

· Regularly provide performance feedback to CHCC, supporting their professional development and maintaining motivation.

2. Development and Delivery of Workshops

· Attend and support all Health and Wellbeing workshops for Community Champions.

· Where appropriate, attend and/or support the workshops run by Community Champions.

· Maintain active communication with Creche workers, professionally responding to queries, and actively engaging in finding solutions to challenges.

· Where appropriate, to support the Project Co-ordinator with setting up the training room and resources, always observing Health and Safety risk to self and others.

· To maintain an accurate record of incidents arising at the workshops and report to the CEO and the ABC Parents Project Co-ordinator.

3. Engaging with Creche Workers

· Identify and recruit Creche workers, maintaining an active bank of workers on account.

· Liaise with Creche workers to ensure their attendance at workshops.

· To receive and verify invoices from Creche workers.

· To provide feedback to the Creche worker, thus ensuring they can respond effectively to the needs of the service.

4. Other Duties

· Complete DBS checks for all CHCC and to maintain accurate records.

· To understand, promote and implement Every Parent & Child’s equality policy, recognising social and cultural diversity in the delivery of services, management of facilities, contract management and staff/volunteer recruitment and management.

· To escalate Child Protection/Safeguarding concerns to the CEO and maintain an accurate record of all escalated concerns.

· To comply with the statutory provisions of all Health and Safety, associated legislations and all Trust policies and procedures, including commitment to ethical and environmentally sustainable practices.

· To be able to work flexible hours to meet service needs, including working some evenings and weekends.

· To work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

· To undertake training relevant to the post.

· Constructively provide feedback on issues/concerns to the Project Co-ordinator and the CEO of Every Parent & Child.

· Undertake administration duties commensurate with the post.

· Contribute data regarding Champions activities for the quarterly reports and evaluation.

· Liaise with the Project Co-ordinator and the CEO of Every Parent & Child to produce data/reports as required for reporting purposes.

· Attend staff and other project-related meetings as necessary. These may be held over video and/or face-to-face in Enfield or Haringey.

· Maintain an updated mailing list, including, but not limited to, the Child Health Community Champions.

· Consistently demonstrate integrity and professionalism in carrying out the duties and be an ambassador for the service.

Girlguiding is looking for a creative project coordinator with a background in youth programme, event and activity creation, and with experience of facilitation and coordination of youth participation opportunities for young people. We are looking to create a new offer for our 11-18 year old age group to sit alongside our current youth offer, and to do this we hope to involve the voices of girls in and out of guiding throughout this innovation and development phase.

• Broad experience in developing youth programmes, resources or activities, ideally spanning informal learning, participation, or personal development.
• Proven experience of youth co‑creation or youth participation, with a passion for youth voice.
• Strong project coordination skills, confident at working to timelines across multiple workstreams, and engaging adults and young people as part of stakeholder engagement .
• An understanding of the opportunities and challenges of a volunteer-run youth work offer within member‑based or volunteer‑led organisations.

This is an exciting role within the Lived Experience Insight team, focusing on development and co-ordination of an engaging and impactful involvement and coproduction programme that delivers meaningful opportunities for people with lived experience of the housing emergency to shape and influence Shelter’s work. You will lead on planning and delivery of Lived Experience Insight across your directorate through front line delivery in the CPC Directorate and supportive line management.

Role specifics

We’re looking for someone who can lead and develop meaningful lived experience insight work that helps shape services, influence change and strengthen co-production across Shelter. You’ll work closely with teams across your directorate and nationally to coordinate insight projects, share learning and embed lived experience into decision-making and ways of working. The role requires you to support wellbeing, safeguarding and personal development for people involved in our work and helping create pathways into volunteering and employment. You’ll also design and deliver training and resources for colleagues, while ensuring activity is well monitored, evaluated and continuously improved.

The Lived Experience Insight team deliver involvement and co-production activities across the organisation, which shape the ongoing design, delivery and governance of Shelter’s work. People with lived experience are involved in a range of ways, including lived experience groups, codesigning Shelter's services and campaigns, sharing decision making on staff recruitment and supporting external influencing and systemic change via consultation and coproduction with key stakeholders.
