Digital Engagement Officer Job Summary

The Digital Engagement Officer is a key member of the Digital Marketing and Engagement department and will support the day-to-day running and development of our digital channels. They will work to drive engagement, reach new audiences and provide a smooth supporter experience.

The role will be responsible for writing, editing and uploading content to our website, developing test plans to optimise conversion, analysing performance, reporting back on learnings and feeding into plans for future improvement. The postholder will also help to enhance our email programme, from growing our opted-in supporter lists to shaping email journeys and test and learn activity to strengthen our email engagement. They will additionally support the wider digital engagement team, including contributing to social media community moderation.

This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with the wider Marketing, Communications and Engagement department as well as colleagues across Fundraising, Policy, Services and beyond to contribute to the digital elements of our marketing and communications strategy.

Fundraising Manager

28hrs/4 days a week - £39,000 pa pro rata (£48,750 full-time equivalent)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced senior fundraiser to join our small and friendly fundraising and communications team. The Fundraising Manager is primarily responsible for developing, managing and growing the charity's mid-value donor programme. The role will steward and upgrade a defined portfolio of supporters, delivering excellent supporter experiences that increase donor retention, engagement and income. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of mid-value supporters, delivering tailored stewardship, personalised communications, meetings, events and digital engagement that demonstrate impact, strengthen relationships and enhance the supporter experience.
• Design and implement segmented donor journeys and cultivation strategies that move supporters from mass fundraising communications to more personalised engagement, identifying opportunities to increase giving through appeals and special funding opportunities.
• Use donor insight, data analysis and supporter behaviour to monitor engagement and retention, reducing attrition, increasing lifetime value, and identifying supporters with the potential to upgrade their giving and progress towards major donor status.
• Develop, manage, and grow a small portfolio of corporate supporters, identifying and securing new fundraising opportunities including sponsorship, employee fundraising, and cause-related marketing initiatives.
• Manage the legacy giving programme, overseeing legacy administration and delivering targeted marketing and stewardship activities to raise awareness, generate enquiries and encourage supporters to leave a gift in their Will.
• Ensure all fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation, data protection requirements, fundraising regulations and organisational policies.
• Maintain accurate supporter records and activity tracking within the CRM system.

Personal Specification

• A proven track record in fundraising
• Ability to think strategically to identify potential donors, prioritise efforts and develop effective fundraising strategies. This includes analysing data, assessing donor potential and adapting approaches based on feedback and results.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain donor relationships and understand donor motivations and interests. 
• Excellent written skills with an ability to craft compelling and personalised proposals, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Confident and comfortable making telephone calls and meeting donors in person as a key part of relationship building and stewardship.
• Strong collaborative skills as a team player, whilst also able to work autonomously initiating and driving tasks as a self-starter.
• Experience using CRM systems and supporter data to drive fundraising performance.
• An understanding of the challenges facing doctors and medical students, including mental health and workplace pressures would be desirable.

Role Description

The Leadership Academy Coordinator will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Leadership Academy, a programme designed to equip participants with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to engage with systems, drive change, and develop as inclusive, multi-skilled leaders, with a strong emphasis on valuing lived experience.

The Academy will bring together learning and development opportunities across a range of areas, including the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF), system navigation, community-led research, and leadership development approaches. Through this programme, grassroots community groups, people with lived experience, and system leaders will be supported to strengthen their leadership capabilities and contribute to anti-racist system change.

The postholder will be responsible for coordinating the development and delivery of the Leadership Academy, working collaboratively with Black Thrive localities, internal teams, people with lived experience, and external specialists to shape and deliver a high-quality learning offer.

Acting as the central point of coordination for the Academy, the postholder will oversee programme planning, stakeholder engagement, curriculum development processes, logistics, and delivery timelines. They will bring together contributions from multiple workstreams and partners, ensuring that content is aligned, relevant, and delivered effectively to meet the needs of participants.

The postholder will work closely with facilitators, trainers, and subject matter experts to coordinate sessions and learning activities, while ensuring effective quality assurance, participant engagement, monitoring, and evaluation. Responsibilities will include managing programme schedules, coordinating communications, tracking participation and outcomes, and maintaining accurate records to support reporting and continuous improvement.

The Leadership Academy Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the Academy's vision, objectives, and outcomes. They will support the ongoing development of the programme by identifying opportunities for improvement, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the curriculum remains responsive to the needs of communities, stakeholders, and the wider system.

The postholder will act as a key connector across the programme, ensuring all elements of the Leadership Academy come together effectively and provide a positive and inclusive experience for participants.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of the Leadership Academy programme, ensuring all activities are well-planned and executed.
• Design and support the development of engaging training sessions and learning materials.
• Liaise with internal and external trainers to schedule, prepare, and deliver sessions effectively.
• Facilitate training sessions where appropriate, ensuring a psychologically safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

As our Special Events Manager – Volunteering you will lead volunteer management across all of WaterAid’s festival and special events activity and manage teams of staff and volunteers onsite at some of the UKs biggest and most loved public events.

In this role, you will:

• Recruit, train and manage over 700 volunteers across festivals
• Develop and deliver volunteer training, safeguarding and wellbeing processes.

Experience of charity finance and working with fundraising teams would be an advantage.

 Shelter’s Finance Team sits within the Strategy Enablement Directorate, which also includes HR Operations, Technology and Data, and Governance, Planning and Property. The Finance Team consists of 32 people led by the Assistant Director of Finance.

As Communications Manager you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic, impactful communications that advance Action for ME’s work, improve understanding and recognition of ME and support fundraising efforts

The Communications Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the communications strategy, leading a team of two other communications staff. You will work closely with colleagues across the fundraising, policy, research and services departments, delivering clear and compelling storytelling, and maximising visibility across media, digital platforms and key stakeholder networks.

Key duties

Leadership and Management

• Work to ensure that people with ME are at the heart of everything we do through meaningful engagement and participation to influence all aspects of communications and marketing.

• Contribute to the development of, and then lead implementation of, the Communications Strategy, ensuring the appropriate involvement of key stakeholders, scoping, evaluating, and improving our practice.

• Maintain a data-insight led approach to the communications work providing regular management information and key performance indicator reports.

• Work as a member of the Extended Leadership Team.

• Line manage Communications Team members, supporting them to set and achieve performance objectives through regular one-to-ones and 12-monthly appraisals.

• Be responsible for Communications budget and the relationship with services providers required for the production of the charity’s digital and printed information and support resources.

Communications and Marketing

• Raise the profile of the impact of ME, and of Action for ME and its work, to enable the organisation to reach more people and better support need, by establishing a regular cadence of appropriate but innovative product across all main social media channels.

• Ensure fundraising is supported by embedding clear calls to action around donations and membership growth as a matter of course.

• Under the direction of the Director of Fundraising, develop all website, press and social media content for charity appeals.

• Market the charity’s Support and Healthcare services, including key digital and printed information and support resources, to the ME community and the professionals working with them, working closely with respective service leads.

• Contribute to income generation by working closely with the Director of Fundraising to develop the communication and marketing materials needed to implement the organisation’s Fundraising Strategy.

• Coordinate the charity’s response to any crisis communications, including developing appropriate crisis management plans and working outside of office hours as required.

• Establish effective systems/processes for gathering, supporting, maintaining, and managing case studies for a range of purposes (including press and media opportunities, public affairs and policy work, and fundraising).

• Draft and issue press releases and media statements and ensure appropriate follow-up by telephoning journalists, contacting picture desks etc. as appropriate.

• Alongside the CEO and any commissioned agency, develop relationships with key press, media and communications stakeholders to enhance the charity’s work.

• Oversee the production of the annual report, on budget, to schedule, taking overall editorial responsibility for content.

• Oversee the ongoing development of our digital engagement including our website and social media and being the point of contact on website issues.

• Fulfil the role of brand gateway keeper, ensuring all digital and printed communications, including information and support resources, adhere to brand guidelines, house style and organisational tone.

• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and oversight of how ME and related key issues (e.g. Long Covid) are discussed in the media and wider ME community.

• Build networks to enhance the charity’s strategic communications and marketing work.

• Build and maintain an effective social media monitoring regime, ensuring fit for purpose rules of engagement are in place and applied consistently.

Other Key Accountabilities 

• Ensure that all relevant service standards are met including compliance with best practice, legal and regulatory frameworks and internal standards.

• Ensure best value in all our work.

• Undertake any other duty within your ability and within reason, as may be required, from time-to-time, at the discretion of your line manager.

Person specification

Experience, Knowledge and Understanding 

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a communications management role

• Experience of developing integrated, insight and audience-led communications plans including social media

• Experience of website and brand management

• Experience of delivering successful campaigns

• Experience of engaging with press and/or media including writing press releases and media briefings

• Experience of working collaboratively with different teams/departments

• Experience of working in charity communications (desirable)

• An understanding of ME and the impact on people affected by it (desirable)

The Breaking Barriers Project is a service which works with Children, Young People (CYP) and Families who have been affected by the imprisonment of a parent or close family member. Our service offers one-to-one support to Children and Young People to maintain a connection with the imprisoned parent/loved one (where appropriate), support their emotional wellbeing and build resilience to enable them to reach their full potential. The work we do plays a critical role in helping to reduce reoffending rates and improve outcomes for children and young people.

The role of the post holder is to provide outcome-based support designed to address the needs of children and young people with a parent/carer or close family member in prison who may feel isolated or excluded in their home and community, ensuring that these programmes meet individual needs and further the aims of Ormiston Families.

To carry out initial assessments with parents/carers and partner agencies following referrals to the service and identify and agree individual outcomes for children and young people.

To work one-to-one in the home, schools, online, and other community settings, coordinating packages of support with CYP, with other agencies where appropriate, that meet the complex needs of children and young people, reduce risks, improve safety and work towards emotional well-being and development.

We are looking for an experienced practitioner confident in supporting children, young people and families to join our dynamic, ambitious team. You will need to be organised and self-motivated and have a passion for improving the outcomes for children/young people.

Full-time, permanent position; 35 hours per week
