DFN Project SEARCH is looking for an experienced charity finance professional to take on the newly-created Head of Finance role. As a well-established and successful UK charity, we are operating in a period of continued growth and require a Head of Finance who combines reliable financial insight, robust control and strong governance with hands-on delivery. This role will work closely with the Finance Director and wider executive team while remaining directly involved in month-end, reporting, controls, cash flow and systems improvement. This role has a requirement to travel to London an average of twice monthly as well as other UK travel to support away days and programme visits.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate, efficient and compliant day-to-day operations.
- Working closely with the Finance Director to deliver management reporting, annual budgeting, statutory accounts and audit support.
- Strengthening cash flow forecasting, treasury oversight, credit control and financial planning to support organisational growth.
- Principal owner of the charity’s financial controls, policies, procedures and systems, further developing the use of Xero for real-time insight.
- Supporting the charity’s funding model through strong oversight of restricted funds, grant reporting, contract support and funder compliance.
- Build financial understanding across the organisation by supporting budget holders and translating financial information for non-finance colleagues.
- Clear reporting relationship with the Finance Director and line management responsibility for the Finance Administrator.
Essential criteria
The successful candidate should be a fully qualified accountant who is comfortable leading and doing in a small charity environment. They should be technically strong, confident with hands-on financial operations, and able to work credibly with the Finance Director, executive colleagues, trustees, external advisors and non-finance budget holders.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a finance management role with end-to-end responsibility for a finance function.
- Strong working knowledge of Charity SORP and charity accounting requirements.
- Experience preparing management accounts, statutory accounts and board-level financial reports.
- Strong cash flow management, balance sheet reconciliation and month-end close capability.
- Experience of restricted funds management, grant reporting and supporting budgets for funding applications or tenders.
- Confident using accounting systems, ideally Xero, and advanced Excel.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-specialist audiences and partner effectively with budget holders.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to line manage and develop a small finance team.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing Financial Instructions in a charity setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading change and process optimisation
- Experience in a remote or distributed organisation
- Experience of working with complex stakeholder groups across education, public sector, social impact or donor settings
- Experience of payroll oversight, VAT returns and finance systems/process improvement would be highly valuable.

Headlines Craniofacial Support is a UK-based charity providing information, advice and support to individuals and families affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions. The charity works closely with professional partners, including the 5 NHS Designated Specialist Craniofacial Units across the UK.
Craniosynostosis is a condition where two or more of the plates in the skull fuse prematurely, requiring medical support from a young age. Around 350 children are born with craniosynostosis each year in the UK.
Established by group of parents in 1993, Headlines now has over 2,500 members. Within our charity offer we send out regular newsletters and an annual magazine, Headline News. We also support families to connect through events such as an annual Family Weekend, conferences and Days Out, and provide information through our helpline and access to psychological support. We have private social media groups and specific groups within our membership who meet regularly including Cranio Dads, Young Persons Network and a Teens Group.
After 8 successful years, our current Director will be retiring in 2026 and we are now seeking an enthusiastic, inspirational and proactive individual to take up the reins.This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established, respected national charity at an important moment of transition.
Strategic priorities for us, moving forward, include increasing our fundraising activities to ensure sustainability of the charity alongside the smooth running of our core activities in providing support, facilitating research and raising awareness.
Key responsibilities
The Executive Director will hold day-to-day responsibilities, working closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to provide effective leadership and operational management of the charity. Specifically, they will:
- Act as an ambassador for the charity, liaising with members, health professionals and with wider community and provide day-to-day management of Headlines staff and activities, setting objectives in line with the operational plan.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and other legal, statutory and regulatory requirements and responsibilities.
- Work on behalf of and with the Trustees to deliver the charity’s mission, goals, operational plans and long-term strategy, and act as a positive leader and role model, managing and motivating Headlines staff,
- Ensure effective financial management of Headlines working closely with trustees and the treasurer to ensure financial security and appropriate allocation of funds.
- Manage and enhance the event programme to meet charity objectives, including identifying and meeting members’ priorities and raising awareness of craniofacial conditions.
- Develop opportunities for collaborative working and partnerships with other organisations for the benefit of people with craniosynostosis and rare craniofacial conditions. This also includes work overseas, predominantly in Europe with our medical and charity partners.

Other information
Headlines hosts events and fundraising activities throughout the whole of the UK. All Headlines staff are expected to work flexibly to support those activities as required, e.g. attendance at Annual Family Weekend, conferences, member events, supporter receptions and other related scientific meetings and conferences. You will have proven experience in fundraising, business development, or partnership management, with a track record of generating income and building strong external relationships. The role and your key responsibilities
As an Account Manager, your role is to make sure that all partners in your area are supported and equipped to make the most out of the Unifrog platform. You’ll build and maintain excellent working relationships with your partner schools and colleges, and provide expert guidance on how to embed the platform across all year groups.
You will cover your own area of the country with occasional travel to your partner schools and colleges (on average 1-2 days per week). Please note you will need to be based in Hertfordshire, North London or Cambridgeshire for this role.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Work with schools and colleges to provide resources and strategies which maximise staff and student engagement with Unifrog, identifying and promoting best practice across partner schools.

Deliver targeted training sessions to staff within our partner schools and colleges, delivered remotely or in person. Also deliver impactful training webinars to our wider UK school and colleges network.

Work with your partner Area Managers to improve Unifrog engagement and achieve a sky high resubscription rate.

Monitor and analyse platform usage across partner schools and colleges, identifying partners that need additional support and proactively delivering tailored solutions to increase their engagement with the platform.

Listen to teachers and students about how we can improve our customer service and the Unifrog platform.

- Seeking and attracting new opportunities for the NYA to work with public sector, voluntary sector, and private sector partners.
- Identifying and assessing prospects across tenders, grants, commercial proposals and government frameworks/contracts.
- Developing win themes, evidence, pricing assumptions (where applicable) and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to develop bids.
- Managing clarifications, presentations/interviews and negotiation stages with commissioners/funders/clients.
- Keeping pipeline and plans up to date and reporting progress/risks against targets.
- Developing relationships with and maintaining existing relationships with clients and funders.
- Taking bids through to close including final agreements and contract sign off.
- Promoting NYA products, resources, consultancy services and training offer.
- Delivering market research, developing business strategies and pitches, managing projects, and identifying new business opportunities.

We are the professional statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) responsible for qualifications, quality standards, and safeguarding for youth work and services in England. In line with our charity mission and aims, we also champion youth work through research, advocacy, campaigns, and programmes.

About the Role
We are looking for a Youth Voice and Influence Officer to support the delivery of high-quality, inclusive Youth Voice & Influence (YV&I) initiatives across the NYA, ensuring that young people are meaningfully involved in shaping programmes, influencing decisions, and leading their own advocacy. The YV&I Officer will engage directly with young people and stakeholders, lead on smaller projects and/or individual programme work strands, support internal teams, and contribute to achieving the NYA’s mission of empowering young voices.
This vacancy will have a primary focus on delivering the UK Youth Parliament programme and flexibility to respond to organisational need.
Key Responsibilities
As a Youth Voice and Influence Officer, you will:
1. Deliver Against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Work with your line manager to define clear KPIs that align with NYA's strategic goals.
- Consistently deliver activities to a high standard within agreed timelines.
- Monitor and report on progress against KPIs, identifying challenges and proposing solutions.
- Support the evaluation of youth engagement programmes to promote continuous improvement.
2. Youth Voice Engagement and Delivery
- Lead and support the delivery of Youth Voice & Influence activities and events.
- Actively engage young people in shaping programmes, campaigns, and decisions.
- Facilitate inclusive, youth-led events, workshops, and forums.
- Ensure accessibility and inclusivity, especially for marginalised or underrepresented groups.
3. Flexibility and Support Across NYA Teams
- Provide flexible support across NYA teams to embed youth voice across organisational activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate youth input into wider initiatives.
- Share youth engagement expertise with other departments.
- Offer capacity where needed to maintain a consistent youth voice focus.
4. Building Relationships with Young People and Stakeholders
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with young people and partner organisations.
- Provide support, guidance, and opportunities for young people to participate confidently.
- Foster inclusive and respectful environments for youth engagement.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to increase youth influence on decisions.
5. Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work alongside other YV&I practitioners and teams to ensure consistency in YV&I work.
- Share best practices and contribute to a collaborative learning culture.
- Provide feedback from young people to shape new initiatives, campaigns, or policies.
- Engage in team meetings and professional development activities.
6. Monitoring, Reporting, and Feedback
- Maintain accurate records of YV&I activities, feedback, and outcomes.
- Assist with collecting and analysing data to evaluate programme impact.
- Contribute to internal and external reporting, presentations, and updates.
7. Supporting NYA’s Strategic Goals
- Align all YV&I work with NYA’s strategic vision of youth empowerment.

The Role
We are looking for a Partnerships Development Manager to develop our approach to, and implement a comprehensive partnership development plan, aligning with our longer term strategic aims. You’ll collaborate across the organisation to understand business aims and objectives, and with one eye on the external market you’ll help to find solutions through seeking new opportunities and in turn developing key new relationships with organisations. - Prospect both warm and cold relationships for potential partners to help NDCS achieve our goals.
- Use your keen research skills to perform due diligence to ensure potential partners are compatible with our aims and our values.
- Make strong decisions regarding which partnerships to take forward and which to not progress based on insight.
- Develop mutually beneficial relationships with new and existing partners to enable NDCS to deliver against strategic plans.
What you'll need
- Proven experience in developing new business from prospecting to partnership.
- Strong research skills and a demonstrable ability to perform due diligence to ensure partners are aligned with NDCS values.
- Proven ability to manage risk effectively making tough decisions based on insight.
- Experience in developing warm and cold relationships and partnerships to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes which meet NDCS’s strategic goals.
