Senior Global Donor Development Manager  

Role type: Full-time; Fixed Term (End of August 2026 - May 2027) 

Location: Godalming, UK (hybrid working pattern 2x days in the office: Team days Tuesdays & Thursdays) The office is based close to Godalming station, with direct trains to London Waterloo in approximately 45 minutes.  

Salary: £45,000 -£50,0000 per annum (depending upon skills and experience)

About the role   

As our Senior Global Donor Development Manager (Maternity Cover), you will support the delivery of our global individual giving donor development and retention strategy across multiple international markets.  You will be responsible for retaining, inspiring and developing tens of thousands of donors worldwide, supporting year‑on‑year income growth and building strong, long‑term supporter relationships. This is a senior role within the Global Individual Giving leadership team working closely with fundraising, digital, CRM and campaigns colleagues at HQ and across key country markets. 

As part of this role you will be responsible for (but not limited to): 

• Delivering the global individual giving donor development and retention strategy
• Driving continuous testing,learningand improvement acrossourdonor journeys

About you  

To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced individual giving fundraising professional with a strong track record of delivering income growth through effective donor development, retention and digital engagement strategies, and able to work well with teams across multiple countries.

We are now looking for a Legacy Marketing Executive to join us in a permanent, home-based role. You will work across multiple channels and projects, helping to grow awareness and inspire more people to consider leaving a gift in their Will.
You will be part of a friendly, collaborative team within a wider Income and Engagement directorate, all united by a shared mission to help change the future of dementia. 
What you’ll do
You’ll lead on planning and delivering legacy marketing campaigns from start to finish. You’ll make sure campaigns are clear, well targeted, and reach the right people.
You’ll work with teams across the organisation and with external partners to keep everything running smoothly.
You’ll also review results and use what you learn to improve future campaigns.

- Deliver campaigns across different channels, including creative development, targeting, and planning
- Work with agencies, suppliers, and internal teams
- Track campaign performance and review results against KPIs like ROI and response rates
- Use data and insight to improve future campaigns
- Contribute ideas to legacy strategy and planning
- Work with Regional Legacy Giving and Case teams to support a joined-up supporter experience
- Follow all relevant rules, regulations, and brand guidelines

We’re open to different backgrounds and paths into this role. You might already work in direct marketing, legacy, individual giving, or another area of the charity sector. Or you might be bringing transferable skills from a different marketing role and looking to move into this space.

You’ll also engage externally with a range of stakeholders, including equity investors and partners, providing confidence in the financial viability of projects and advising on innovative financing approaches. Alongside this, you will contribute to wider knowledge sharing, helping to strengthen understanding of green finance across protected landscapes.

You’ll be working in a fast-evolving and commercially emerging space, where your ability to combine technical expertise with strategic insight will be critical.

You will bring strong experience in financial and/or ecological modelling within environmental or natural capital settings, with a deeper or more specialised focus on green finance and nature markets. This might include experience gained within organisations such as environmental consultancies, natural capital firms, or market-focused organisations such as Environment Bank or similar.

Comfortable working with complexity, you’ll be confident building and interrogating financial models, understanding investment drivers, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. You will bring a high level of attention to detail alongside the ability to see the bigger strategic picture.

A proactive and collaborative approach is essential, as is the ability to work independently within a remote team while managing multiple strands of work.

Leading on all operational aspects of corporate engagement and fundraising, and inputting into strategy with the Senior Manager of Philanthropy & Partnerships, you’ll have responsibility for corporate membership, partnerships, philanthropy and social value funding, as well as having the opportunity to work closely with colleagues on vital nature-based solutions and green finance income generation opportunities.

With support from colleagues across the department, you’ll provide stewardship to a portfolio of mid and high value relationships, develop funding propositions for new and existing supporters and act as a champion for corporate fundraising across the Trust.

About you:

You’re an outstanding communicator with sound experience of new business development, as well as high-quality account management skills and knowledge, with a proven track record of developing and managing business relationships and driving income growth. You’re a proactive, positive and confident fundraiser with the skills and experience to take the lead across a range of important corporate income streams.

We are looking for a Weekenders Journey Guide to support prospective Weekend Foster Carers from their first conversations with Now Foster through to the next stages of the recruitment and assessment journey.

This is a highly relational, candidate-facing role. You will be one of the main people helping applicants understand what Weekenders is, explore whether it is right for them, stay motivated through the process, and feel supported to take the next step.

Introductory conversations (our ‘intro chats’) will be a core part of the role. You will speak with people who are curious about fostering, but who may also feel unsure, nervous or are still working out whether they can foster. Your role will be to bring warmth, clarity and momentum: helping people feel welcomed, informed and confident, while also making sure the right people progress at the right pace.

You will use Now Foster’s digital platform (a bespoke CRM system) to manage the candidate journey, track progress, record key information and help the team understand where applicants are getting stuck or moving forward. You will play an important role in making sure we are attracting the right leads, supporting them well, and learning how to improve the journey as we grow.

This role would particularly suit someone with experience of fostering or working in fostering. It could also suit someone from a related background who is deeply motivated by innovation in this area and excited by what fostering could look like if it were designed around children, carers and relationships.

You do not need to be a qualified social worker, but you do need to be emotionally mature, reflective, organised and comfortable working closely with a social work-led team. You will need to understand safeguarding, and be confident holding thoughtful conversations with prospective carers.

The programme is growing quickly. We are scaling Weekenders across London and beyond, testing new ways to support applicants, local authorities and independent social workers, and building the operational foundations needed for long-term growth.

A core part of this growth is making sure that people who are interested in becoming Weekend Foster Carers receive the right balance of warmth, encouragement, information and challenge as they move through the journey. That is where the Journey Guide comes in.

Working Pattern and Location

This role is offered at 4 to 5 days per week, with a salary of £34,000 pro rata.

The role can be based anywhere in England, with occasional travel to our Weekender delivery areas. Our Weekenders team is currently based across London and Manchester, and our wider organisational team is based in Oxford. Most work will be home-based, but there will be some in-person meetings, events, training sessions or bi-monthly co-working days.

The role will involve some work outside standard office hours. This is likely to include:

• Around one weekend day per month, which you would take back as time off during the previous or following week.

• Some evening work, for example around one information event per month.

• Some evening intro chats with prospective foster carers, where this helps people engage with the process.

We work flexibly and will support the successful candidate to manage their time in a sustainable way.

Safeguarding

The Executive Director will hold day-to-day responsibilities, working closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to provide effective leadership and operational management of the charity. Specifically, they will:

• Act as an ambassador for the charity, liaising with members, health professionals and with wider community and provide day-to-day management of Headlines staff and activities, setting objectives in line with the operational plan.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and other legal, statutory and regulatory requirements and responsibilities.
• Work on behalf of and with the Trustees to deliver the charity’s mission, goals, operational plans and long-term strategy,  and act as a positive leader and role model, managing and motivating Headlines staff,
• Ensure effective financial management of Headlines working closely with trustees and the treasurer to ensure financial security and appropriate allocation of funds.
• Manage and enhance the event programme to meet charity objectives, including identifying and meeting members’ priorities and raising awareness of craniofacial conditions.
• Develop opportunities for collaborative working and partnerships with other organisations for the benefit of people with craniosynostosis and rare craniofacial conditions.  This also includes work overseas, predominantly in Europe with our medical and charity partners.
• Oversee communications and marketing activities to raise the profile of Headlines, its work and the needs of its members.
• Identify opportunities for growth, developing projects and keeping policies relevant, to enhance and expand the work of Headlines.
• Be responsible for generating funds through innovative and cost-effective fundraising activities and grant applications to maintain the long-term success of the charity.

Person specification 

Essential criteria

• An understanding of the importance of the charity’s values and priorities.
• Evidence of inclusive, innovative and proactive leadership, with demonstrable experience of fundraising and income generation.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with experience organising events and activities.
• Experience of successfully managing budgets and developing new and sustainable funding streams.
• Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills and the ability to write reports for public consumption and for statutory obligations.
• A high level of digital literacy skills with an understanding of online technology and the application of social media.
• Proven track record in managing, leading and motivating staff and volunteers.
• Willingness to operate a hybrid model of working with most work taking place from home, working remotely with stakeholders and across the UK/ internationally for specific events.
• Experience of working within the charity sector, ideally at a management level and/or within  financial management of the charitable sector, with sound knowledge of the relevant legal requirements and regulations applicable to a charitable organisation.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of working effectively with a Chair and Board of Trustees.
• Experience of working for a health-related organisation.
• An awareness of the principles of inclusivity, accessibility or experience of working with individuals with visible differences.
• Degree or equivalent.
• Experience of commissioning research and liaising with research bodies.

Other information

Headlines hosts events and fundraising activities throughout the whole of the UK. All Headlines staff are expected to work flexibly to support those activities as required, e.g. attendance at Annual Family Weekend, conferences, member events, supporter receptions and other related scientific meetings and conferences. This may occasionally require travel and overnight stays. In addition, all staff are expected to be self-servicing in terms of administration and basic digital skills.
