Mass Participation Events Manager

Department/Responsibility for:

Mass participation events and schools fundraising programmes

Purpose of the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving and growing fundraising team with a new, ambitious strategy for income generation that the whole charity, senior management and Trustees are right behind.

The role itself is new as Cerebra looks to invest in and significantly grow and develop a new mass participation events programme (which includes schools fundraising products). You’ll work closely with the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications who has a strong background in events and community fundraising.

You will lead the development of virtual/digital fundraising events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person owned events, DIY events and our relationships with schools. In time, you will build and foster relationships with other community organisations. You will be responsible for growing the team as the programme expands.  Innovation and product development are key areas of work.

You will play key role in the Fundraising Marketing & Communications directorate and developing our fundraising, audience and supporter engagement strategy.

This is a challenging but well-supported role, where you can make a large, career-defining impact on Cerebra and the children and families that we serve.

Overall budgetary responsibility is approximately £295k of income for 2026, with considerable scope and ambition for improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. New events programme

• Develop a multi-year events programme incorporating virtual/digital events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person own events and DIY.
• Project manage the delivery of the events in the programme to raise £295k in 2026.
• Develop multi-channel marketing plans for recruitment, focusing on key audiences.
• Develop multi-channel supporter journeys and top-class supporter experience to deepen engagement and increase income.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on income, expenditure, and supporter acquisition across the events programme and make decisions about where to invest time and resources, accordingly.
• Develop necessary assets, such as fundraising packs. Digital platforms, digital rewards and supporter groups.
• Work with the Corporate & Philanthropy Manager to offer events fundraising to corporate partners.

2. Innovation and product development

• Use data and insights to understand audiences and to innovate and develop new events from prototype and MVP onwards.
• Proactively research and identify opportunities to grow the portfolio, monitoring the market and sector trends and how they could be implemented at Cerebra.
• Constantly seek to iterate and improve events in all areas including marketing, supporter experience, delivery and fundraising.
• Create business cases and plans for each new event.
• Own and grow Cerebra’s own mass participation flagship event “Relay Your Way”.

3. Schools and community groups

• Develop a plan and products to engage schools with Cerebra fundraising.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop materials to support schools fundraising.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications and Contact Centre teams to recruit schools to take part in fundraising for Cerebra.
• Monitor and evaluate to scale successful schools fundraising products.
• Take learnings from schools fundraising to apply to other groups and organisations.

4. Culture & relationships

• Work to continue the development of a strong, person-centred, empathetic, supportive and inclusive culture at Cerebra.
• Build on excellent relationships between different teams and directorates for each teams’s and Cerebra’s overall strategic goals and objectives.
• Collaborate across departments to align partner activity with service delivery and communications.
• Contribute to strategic, organisational and cultural development.
• Champion innovation, growth mindset and learning from failure.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, partners and suppliers to ensure the best outcomes for Cerebra.

5. Budgeting, monitoring and forecasting

• Working with the team and Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications to set income and expenditure budgets for Events and Community.
• Monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure and KPIs throughout the year.
• Providing quarterly income and expenditure re-forecasts.
• Ensuring all relevant information is recorded in line with charity, fundraising and data legislation and best practice.

6. Line Management

• Carry out recruitment within the team in line with Cerebra’s practices and values.
• Provide effective, remote line management, support and performance management to direct reports to help them maximise their potential and effectiveness.
• Provide practical and person-centred coaching support to direct reports.
• Ensure there is a continual focus on learning and development and wellbeing.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Lead Trusts & Grants Officer is responsible for developing and delivering income from mid-value grant making funders, notably trusts and foundations. The role involves managing a dedicated pipeline of opportunities, writing and submitting compelling applications, and stewarding funder relationships. This position works closely with service teams to understand project needs and create accurate budgets and impactful funding proposals. This role will also provide direct line management to the Trusts & Grants Officer, supporting their professional development and ensuring the team's overall success in meeting fundraising targets.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising and Grants Management

• Pipeline Management: Lead on prospecting, developing and managing the mid-value trusts and grants pipeline, focusing on bids around £20,000 - £70,000, including multiyear grants, ensuring a consistent flow of opportunities to meet team income targets. Developing the skills and ability to manage higher value and more complex strategic bids.

• Application Writing: Develop and submit compelling, high-quality grant applications and proposals for mid-value funders, working closely with service teams, ensuring accurate budgets and income against Adoption UK’s strategic priorities.

• Stewardship: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of new and existing mid-value funders, providing timely and impactful reports to secure renewed funding, and developing relationships with key external contacts through excellent communication.

• Reporting: Oversee the accurate tracking of all applications, reports, and communications using team tracking methods, and the CRM database, providing regular progress updates to the Senior Trusts & Grants Manager.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Trusts & Grants Manager, the Trusts & Grants Officer, and service teams, to align fundraising activities with the organisation’s strategic priorities and annual income targets.

• Undertake other duties and projects as directed by the Senior Trusts & Grants Manager and Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications.

Team Management and Development

• Line Management: Provide line management and support to the Trusts & Grants Officer, including regular one-to-ones, appraisals, and professional development.

• Training and Mentoring: Guide the Trusts & Grants Officer on best practices for researching, writing, budgets, and stewarding of small-value grants.

Personal specification

Knowledge and experience

• Track record of successfully securing individual grant awards typically ranging between £10,000 and £50,000. (E)

We’re looking for an organised, detail-focused leader to run our winter night shelter across multiple church venues. You’ll coordinate and support volunteers and our Resettlement Worker, ensuring the shelter runs smoothly, safely, and with Christ at the centre of all activities. Job Description

Job purpose: To lead and develop Remember A Charity’s marketing and communications programme, in line with our core mission of making legacy giving a social norm. This core focus of the role is on growing and engaging our audiences across the charity sector (members and non-members) and professional adviser communities (solicitors, Will-writers, wealth advisers).

The Marketing Manager will also contribute to the development of our consumer PR, marketing and digital programmes, led by the Director and Digital Communications Manager respectively.

This role would suit a confident and creative individual who is enthused by the opportunity of helping charities across the UK to grow and develop their long-term income. The successful candidate will work closely with the campaign’s members, professional advisers and, of course, colleagues within Remember A Charity and the wider CIOF.

Key Accountabilities:

• Coordinate quarterly webinars for professional advisers on relevant Will-writing topics, working with internal and external partners.
• Create materials and promotional assets for professional advisers and campaign partners to equip them to advocate for legacies.

Consumers

• Contribute to the planning and delivery of consumer marketing and PR activity.
• Support members in making best use of the consumer-facing assets provided for them to use during Remember A Charity Week and beyond.

About You

Experience & Skills

• Experience of planning and delivering successful marketing programmes.

We are looking for an experienced, proactive media professional to join our team during a crucial phase of Dignity in Dying’s campaign. We welcome applicants with a strong news-sense, political nous and a flair for story-telling who can use the media and other channels to effectively influence a range of audiences. At a pivotal time for the movement for choice at the end of life, the successful candidate will be a team-player who can communicate complex subject matter in compelling and creative ways, keep abreast of media and political trends, support the delivery of national and regional comms plans and champion the voices of terminally ill people and bereaved families - both inside and outside Parliament.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Campaigns and Communications team in monitoring, evaluating and securing media coverage, along with developing and rolling out campaign activities.
• Assist in the efficient running of the press office including responding to incoming media enquiries in a timely manner, drafting and issuing media comments, compiling spokesperson briefings, and building and maintaining media lists.

Join our team as Director of Education, helping us to support teachers, champion great teaching and raise the status of the profession. The Organisation

The Chartered College of Teaching is a charity and the professional body for teachers. We are working to empower a knowledgeable and respected teaching profession through membership and accreditation.

We are dedicated to bridging the gap between practice and research and equipping teachers from the moment they enter the classroom with the knowledge and confidence to make the best decisions for their pupils.

Our activities mainly focus on four key areas:

● Chartered study, professional learning and accreditation

Since opening membership in 2017, we have grown rapidly. In total our work reaches over 40,000 teachers and more than 3.6 million young people. We are a growing and multi-skilled team of 30 people, supported by a Board with a significant track record of experience in a range of fields. Our business plan focuses on growing membership and Chartered Status, strategic positioning of the College in the education sector, and providing meaningful professional learning opportunities for the teaching profession.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact. You will have overall accountability for the Education and Research directorate, including accreditation, partnerships, research, events and policy, funded projects, publishing and content and marketing and communication. We are recruiting a dedicated individual who believes in the Chartered College of Teaching’s mission and is committed to leading our growth.

•  have autonomy for leading the Education and Research Directorate;
• enjoy speaking at events and advocating for the need for a strong professional body;
• work collaboratively with many of the team across the charity, supporting the growth of partnerships in the sector;
• be part of the team driving the organisation forward at an exciting time for the future of the College.

Lead the growth of Chartered Status and membership; advocate for and represent the College; grow strategic networks

• Provide keynote speeches as required for the Chartered College of Teaching, building on teaching experience and practice. Attend and contribute as required at speaking events, important functions, sector events and meetings across the country
• Develop and manage senior strategic relationships with the DfE, devolved governments, other sector bodies as directed by the CEO
• Exemplify the importance of professional learning, especially sustained enquiry leading to validation e.g Masters, PhD study, Chartered routes
• Maintain detailed understanding of the wider education policy landscape and support our Public Relations dept in commenting to the media
• Lead the College’s income growth from funded projects, seeking new opportunities and work with the Deputy CEO and Director of Finance to ensure that new opportunities have robust commercial model
• Support management of relationships with funders at the highest level in partnership with the CEO and Deputy CEO

Organisational Planning & Strategy

• Work with the Executive Leadership Team to shape the organisational business plan, in partnership with Executive Leadership Team colleagues and Council, supported by a clear budget and plan for income generation
• Lead the implementation of the strategy, ensuring that KPIs are met / action is taken to course correct, and provide day-to-day guidance and long-term strategic direction for all employees within the College
• Oversee the College’s existing and new products and services, ensuring that they are of the highest standard, and are informed by research and impact evaluation

Leadership

• Advise on the education content of external communications
• Provide overall accountability and leadership in a range of areas including membership, publishing, content, research, Chartered status and other professional learning and accreditation
• Report to the Council as required and be the Executive Leadership Team representative for relevant committees, and ensure they have the reports and data needed to make informed decisions for the College 
• Provide leadership and development of individuals within the team, including setting clear objectives, responsibilities, performance standards and development goals and managing these accordingly – through informal coaching and feedback and formal discussions including regular one to ones and appraisals

About You

The Director of Education will be passionate about the purpose, vision and mission of the Chartered College of Teaching, including the growth of membership and accreditation, and the importance of high-quality education and research content. You will understand the importance of the College taking a balanced position (beyond ideology) and be able to link our existing content to our members’ needs. You will have gravitas with external stakeholders and be energised by developing and maintaining strong external networks within the education sector and with new and existing funders.

Experience and knowledge

Essential

• Teaching expertise - experience of working with teachers and school leaders in a range of contexts, ideally with a focus on professional learning
• Highly credible, increasingly respected profile (including in public speaking) and a strong network within the education sector
• Experience of building and maintaining strong external relationships 
• Significant professional experience including a senior leadership role and interactions with board level executives or equivalent 
• Ability to motivate and inspire the whole staff team to consistently deliver quality services and develop a high-performance culture
• Be future focused able to make strategic decisions and deliver capabilities ahead of business requirements as well as in response to them

Desirable

• Strong academic skills e.g. at PhD / Masters level or Chartered Teacher Status
• An appreciation of the drivers of company profitability and cost management
• Experience of financial management, risk management and strategic business planning
• Experience of successfully identifying and securing funding bids
• Experience of successfully leading the delivery of multidisciplinary projects, programmes or organisational initiatives of significant size or impact
• A publication portfolio
