Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. We believe no one should face financial hardship in later life.

Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working with older people across the UK. We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:

This role is dedicated to building lived experience participation at Independent Age.  We want to deliver more opportunities for a greater variety of people with lived experience of financial hardship in later life to shape our work in meaningful ways.  

The role will be responsible for developing a lived experience participation network ensuring that our existing and growing work in this area can be delivered smoothly, ethically and in line with best practice and making sure that the voices of those most at risk of financial hardship can be heard. The role will champion and encourage participatory practice across the organisation, developing the long term lived experience strategy and supporting the organisation to learn and grow in this area. 

You should have strong experience of designing, running and supporting participatory activity, particularly with those with lived experience of a pressing social issue.  You will be passionate about making change for those with experience of financial hardship in later life and bring an understanding of what barriers there might be to taking part and how to overcome them.   Exceptional organisational skills are a must, along with great communication and the ability to build relationships with a broad range of people.

The Role

As Team Leader of the Affected Others Programme, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of GamCare’s online support services for people affected by someone else’s gambling. Working closely with the Affected Others Programme Manager, you will make sure the service is safe, responsive and well run, supporting the team to identify need, manage risk, respond to safeguarding concerns and deliver high-quality interventions for people who may otherwise struggle to access the right support.

You will also help shape how the service develops. This includes line managing and supporting Services Officers, embedding lived experience into service design, monitoring quality and impact, and using feedback and data to improve what is offered. You will combine compassionate operational leadership with service development, helping build accessible, inclusive support for affected others across the UK.

About You

You will be an experienced support services, peer support or health and wellbeing professional, with a background in mental health, addictions, public health, social care, counselling, nursing, social work or community-based support, who wants to combine compassionate leadership with hands-on service delivery.

You will be motivated by the chance to create safe, inclusive and accessible support for people who may face additional barriers to seeking help, including young adults, neurodiverse people, LGBTQIA+ communities, men and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

You will need a relevant professional qualification or accredited training in an area such as mental health, addictions, public health, health and social care, psychology, counselling, social work, nursing or peer support leadership. You will bring experience of managing and developing high-performing teams, overseeing peer support or support interventions, and applying safeguarding, risk management and co-production principles in practice.

Strong organisational, communication and service development skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities, create a reflective and supportive team culture, interpret feedback and use learning to improve services.

You’ll bring experience of facilitating and shaping support spaces for specific groups, with the confidence to adapt resources and approaches according to the needs of the people taking part. Strong communication, organisation and project administration skills will be important, as you’ll be planning groups, managing logistics, keeping accurate records, monitoring engagement and working collaboratively with colleagues across GamCare. Experience of safeguarding principles is essential, particularly in relation to support services, peer support and co-production.

The role would suit someone who can deliver multiple support groups for diverse audiences, listen carefully to feedback and turn insight into practical service improvements. You’ll also need an understanding of health inequalities, including how they can affect people’s confidence, health literacy and the ability to seek help or advocate for themselves. Sound Minds is a user-led charity transforming lives through music, film and art. We are a thriving community bound together by creativity and a shared belief in mutual learning and peer support.

Our Canerows Programme delivers a ward visiting service at Springfield Hospital and community-based Peer Support.

Main purposes of the job:

 Sound Minds is recruiting a Peer Support Worker to join our team in Wandsworth.

The Peer Support Transformation Project is funded by and delivered in partnership with South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust, Mushkil Aasaan, and Wandsworth Carers Centre. It is an integral part of Sound Minds’ Canerows programme; a user led service working to improve the lives of people who are overcoming mental health challenges.

This is a new role at Sound Minds, developed to provide proactive and responsive administrative support across the Peer Support project. The role will provide efficient administration, ensuring that clients on the wait list for peer support are contacted in a timely fashion, and that databases are well maintained.

The postholder will have a passion for maintaining organised systems, whilst also having a friendly approach, communicating with clients with care and empathy.

Salary: £26,936 per annum (pro rata) & 3% contribution to pension

Hours: 14 hours per week

This fixed term contract ends on 31 March 2027 and is renewable depending on funding.

Strong IT skills are essential for this role. You will be required to have a DBS (criminal records check) and satisfactory written references before starting.

War on Want is recruiting a Senior Movement Building and Activism Officer who will play a key role in strengthening War on Want’s contribution to movements for justice and supporting public participation in campaigns.

The Senior Movement Building and Activism Officer will help to build relationships across movements, support grassroots organising and creating opportunities for collaboration, learning and collective action. This will help us build the collective power of our supporters, networks, organisations and movements that War on Want is part of.

The role works across War on Want’s campaigning priorities, with particular relevance to the organisation’s work on climate justice and economic justice, including our call for a Global Green New Deal. A key aspect of the role is supporting War on Want’s engagement in movement spaces and coalitions, including the Climate Justice Coalition, and contributing to coordinated mobilisation around key political moments such as COP31 and other major international justice campaigns.

The Peer Support In-Reach Service is a partnership between several local Minds. Senior Peer Support Workers and Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards living independently in the community.

We are seeking a Senior Peer Support Worker to join the team in Lewisham and line manage the Peer Support Workers.

You will use your lived experience whilst on the ward to help people to build skills to manage their home, finances, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, to get more involved in their local community and to stay physically and mentally well. 

Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, emotional support and facilitating access to community activities, practical support, work or study.  The role will be ward-based initially until the patient is ready for discharge; you will then work with them to develop their support plans and goals. You will support them with the transition into the community for up to 12 weeks, helping them to connect with community resources to ensure they are well-supported in the community and working towards their goals.

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. We are the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.

We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Since the Charity was launched in 2009, we have invested £37.5 million in research into brain tumours, supporting game-changing science that with benefit patients in years to come. We are the leading voice of the brain tumour community, influencing governments and larger charities to invest more in this devastating disease.

Our last financial year was our most successful fundraising year to date, and we’re building on that momentum and looking ahead with ambition. We are now searching for passionate people to help us achieve the next steps on our journey to get closer to a cure.

We are recruiting for a Community Development Manager - North to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in the Income Generation and Development team​and support the wider charity to achieve our strategic aims.

The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) support international students and the institutions, students’ unions and organisations who work with them. What You’ll Be Doing

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Support managers with scheduling interviews and communicating with candidates

• Prepare offer letters, contracts and new starter packs

• Carry out right‑to‑work and reference checks

• Co‑ordinate induction plans and ensure new starters are set up on our systems

• Provide admin support for recruitment of staff, trustees and committee members (We typically recruit around five roles per year, so this is steady but manageable.)

HR Administration – Employees

• Keep personnel files accurate and up to date

• Process changes such as hours, job titles, salary amendments and contract renewals

• Draft routine HR letters (e.g., confirmations, probation outcomes)

• Support the review and updating of HR policies

• Manage the quarterly rota for our advice line

HR Administration – Volunteers

• Maintain accurate records for trustees and committee members

• Support governance admin such as registers of interest and suitability checks

• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements

• Work closely with the Head of Finance & Resources on governance tasks (Governance cycles are predictable and well‑supported.)

Attendance & Leave Management

• Keep annual leave, sickness and other absence records up to date

• Run leave reports and share them with managers ahead of the leave‑year end

General Support

• Contribute to HR projects and help improve our processes

• Keep our intranet updated with useful HR information

• Provide friendly, high‑quality support to staff and volunteers

The arts for mental health – peer support delivered creatively

Sound Minds is a user-led charity transforming lives through music, film and art. We are a thriving community bound together by creativity and a shared belief in mutual learning and peer support.

Our Canerows Programme delivers a ward visiting service at Springfield Hospital and community-based Peer Support.

Main purposes of the job:

Sound Minds is recruiting a Peer Support Worker to join our team in Wandsworth.

The Peer Support Transformation Project is funded by and delivered in partnership with South West London and St Georges Mental Health Trust, Mushkil Aasaan, and Wandsworth Carers Centre. It is an integral part of Sound Minds’ Canerows programme; a user led service working to improve the lives of people who are overcoming mental health challenges.

Mental Health Peer Support gives emotional support and promotes access to information and practical advice to people experiencing mental health difficulties.

As a Peer Support Worker, you will draw on your own direct lived experience of mental health difficulties to support other people through time-limited 1-2-1 sessions. Peer Support Workers at Sound Minds work collaboratively with the Sound Minds team and our partners at South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust. They offer educational, emotional and practical support towards goals that are defined by the client.

Peer Support Workers are supported through peer support training and regular supervision. Personal lived experience of mental ill health is essential for this role.

Salary: £27,169 per annum (pro rata) & 3% contribution to pension

Hours: 21 hours per week

This fixed term contract ends on 31 March 2027 and is renewable depending on funding.

Personal lived experience of mental health difficulties is essential for this role. You will be required to have a DBS (criminal records check) and satisfactory written references before starting.

Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 37 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of around 7-10 young people. You will be expected to deliver positive outcomes for all our young people and support them to reach independence, keep safe and maintain their tenancy's. Aside from support workers delivering support there is a strong element of housing management associated wit this role, for example managing rents, raising/monitoring repairs and health and safety.
