Job Purpose

The Head of Retail will provide strategic leadership and expert insight to review, strengthen and evolve Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s retail operation during a six-month period of strategic development.

Working closely with the Director of Operations & People, the postholder will undertake a comprehensive review of the charity’s retail portfolio, identifying opportunities to maximise income, improve operational effectiveness and enhance supporter engagement.

The role will assess the current retail model, including shop performance, operational structures, processes and growth opportunities, and develop clear recommendations and a practical roadmap for the future development of retail income at Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong commercial insight, charity retail expertise and the ability to translate analysis into actionable plans that will support the charity’s long-term income growth and sustainability.

Main Duties / Tasks

Strategic Review and Development

• Lead a comprehensive strategic review of Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s retail operations, including shop performance, operational structure, systems and processes

• Assess the current retail model to identify opportunities for income growth, efficiency improvements and enhanced supporter engagement

• Benchmark retail performance against charity sector best practice and comparable retail operations

• Develop strategic recommendations and a clear roadmap to strengthen long-term sustainability and growth

Retail Performance and Commercial Insight

• Analyse financial performance, sales data, stock flow and operational costs across the retail portfolio

• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency and customer experience

• Review pricing, merchandising, stock management and donation processes to optimise retail income

• Provide clear insights and reporting to inform strategic decision-making by the senior leadership team

Operational Improvement

• Review existing retail processes, structures and ways of working to identify improvements

• Introduce practical operational improvements during the contract period where appropriate

• Ensure compliance with best practice in Gift Aid, health and safety and charity retail standards

Future Growth Opportunities

• Identify opportunities for growth, innovation or diversification, including new retail formats or channels

• Assess opportunities to strengthen community engagement and donation generation

• Support development of a longer-term retail strategy aligned to wider income generation ambitions

Leadership and Collaboration

• Provide leadership and support to the retail team, fostering a positive and collaborative culture

• Work closely with fundraising, marketing and operations teams to integrate retail into wider strategy

• Build strong relationships with volunteers, supporters and key stakeholders

Reporting and Strategic Recommendations

• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on findings, opportunities and progress

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

• Significant experience in retail leadership, ideally within a multi-site or charity retail environment

• Proven experience delivering retail strategies that drive income growth

• Experience managing budgets and financial performance

• Experience leading and developing teams, including volunteers

• Strong understanding of retail operations (stock, merchandising, customer experience)

• Experience analysing performance data to inform decision-making

• Experience working within charity retail

• The Feline Welfare Research Team are a small but growing team of six scientists, who sit within the wider Cat Welfare department. The team supports the organisation in improving our understanding of feline welfare both on a population and individual basis across a range of disciplines including epidemiology, demography and welfare assessment. 

• The team are responsible for providing the charity with scientific expertise. 

What we’re looking for in our Cat Scientist - Emerging Welfare Technology: 

• Extensive experience undertaking non-invasive animal behaviour and welfare studies, including first-author publications. 

• Significant experience in research project design and leadership, including planning, oversight, and completion of projects on time and within budget.

The Data Officer for our Finance and Data team will play a key part in ensuring accurate, timely data flows into Dynamics CRM and other platforms, supporting Fundraising, Marketing and Communications colleagues to make informed decisions, run effective campaigns and deliver brilliant experiences for our supporters.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for data, problem‑solving, and improving processes to make a real impact across the charity.

You will be responsible for supporting data load tasks by running pre‑defined scripts and updating source files, while also monitoring routine ETL jobs to identify and escalate any failures or irregularities. It includes carrying out basic investigations into data issues and contributing to data cleansing and validation activities to maintain high data quality. You will ensure accurate and complete imports of data from a variety of income sources into our CRM and maintain clear documentation of data processes, helping to improve and streamline data workflows.

The Data Insight Manager for our Finance and Data team will play a vital role in strengthening RNID’s understanding of our audiences and improving how we use data to drive timely, targeted and impactful communications.

You will conduct campaign selections, audience insights and segmentation, working closely with the Senior Data Analyst and fundraising teams to deliver accurate, compliant and high‑quality data for supporter engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to shape supporter journeys, contribute to audience segmentation development and support a data audit as part of RNID’s supporter engagement strategy. 

What you will be doing

· Deliver high‑quality campaign selections and ensure robust, compliant data processes. 

· Provide meaningful insights to inform decision‑making and improve supporter engagement. 

· Develop and maintain segmentation logic, profiling, and audience insights.

Teenage Cancer Trust is now seeking a Regional Fundraising Manager (North) to lead and grow income across a significant and high-potential region. The Regional Fundraising Manager is a senior role responsible for leading fundraising across the North of England, managing a team of four fundraisers and contributing to the wider regional fundraising strategy. Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) was founded in 2004 and is a charity that fights malaria in a highly effective, accountable and transparent way.

We do this by purchasing and distributing multiple millions of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) at a time in nationwide universal coverage campaigns. This is the most cost-effective way of preventing malaria. AMF receives donations from the public and in the last financial year received US$147 million and, in our history, now over US$820 million. AMF is particularly data-focused and monitors and reports on net use and drives and supports innovation to improve the effectiveness of malaria programmes.

AMF is the world’s third largest funder of nets.

AMF has been rated a top charity for all of the last 16 years by independent charity evaluators GiveWell, Giving What We Can and The Life You Can Save who focus on impact and cost-effectiveness.

We are a team of 15 highly motivated individuals with different skills and experience. Each person has an important role to play. All team members work remotely with constant communication between them. While the team is small, the impact is big - our net distributions protect millions of people. Our largest programme is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we are funding 52 million nets to protect 94 million people for distribution during 2025 to 2027. We have ongoing multi-million net programmes in other countries including Chad, Guinea, Nigeria, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.

Role Description

Our activities and commitments are steadily increasing, and 2026-2029 is expected to be a very busy period of distributions, with over ~70m nets planned for distribution in 2026 alone. In light of this, AMF is recruiting a Senior Operations Manager to join the operations team and play an important role in ensuring the success of the net distributions. We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and intellectual skills who is able to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking on significant responsibility by leading on several of AMF’s programmes.

The role will include involvement in all stages of a distribution campaign (pre-agreement, net procurement, post-agreement, during distribution, and post distribution) across two main areas: 

1. Work with National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) and distribution partners

2. Work with AMF’s independent monitoring partners

The Senior Operations Manager will lead on several of AMF’s programmes. They will work closely with NMCPs and distribution partners, in country partners, AMF independent monitors, cofunding partners, the AMF Operations and Technology teams to ensure the success of AMF distributions. 

More specifically, they will manage the distributions through the following stages

1. Pre agreement

• Establishing the funding gap

• Establishing the net need, malaria burden, insecticide resistance data

• Working with the Ministry of Health to negotiate and put in place an agreement for the programme

2. Net procurement

• Working with AMF’s procurement lead to order nets in time for the distribution

3. Post-agreement

• After signature of the agreement, working with countries and distribution partners to put in place the plans for key elements, in particular

4. During the distribution

• Track information coming from all partners

Through these stages, it will be important to maintain strong relationships with the key partners, notably the National Malaria Control Programmes, distribution partners and cofunding partners to ensure that distributions are carried out according to the agreements signed between the Ministry of Health and AMF. 

These relationships will ensure that solutions can be found constructively to issues that arise during implementation of AMF’s programmes.

JOB PURPOSE   

The Major Giving Lead – Individual Donors is a senior, strategic role within Magic Breakfast’s unified Major Giving function, acting as the organisation’s expert on philanthropy. This role will lead and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), ensuring exceptional donor care, long-term engagement, and the growth of transformational gifts.  

Working closely with the Head of Major Giving, the Major Giving Lead will help develop and embed a cohesive Major Giving strategy, fostering strong synergies across the Major Giving team. In partnership with the other Major Giving Lead (Trust & Foundations) this role will create unified stewardship programmes, prospect development strategies, and engagement opportunities, ensuring a seamless and compelling experience for donors across all major giving streams. It will also work closely with the Business Development Manager (Scotland) to ensure effective ways of working across devolved nations and to unlock opportunities for HNWI in Scotland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:    

Leadership and team collaboration  

• Act as the senior lead and subject matter expert for HNWI relationships across the organisation.

• With support from the Head of Major Giving, deliver the 25/26 individual giving income target of c£800k by personally managing a portfolio of new and existing major donors and family foundations, with a focus on securing, renewing and uplifting gifts above £50k+ .   

• In partnership with other teams and departments, develop, test and roll out new data-driven approaches to target and reach new HNWI and other major giving audiences.  

• Work with our Prospect Researcher Manager to identify and execute opportunities to grow our prospect pool, including from across other teams, and to facilitate personal introductions and meetings with yourself or other Magic Breakfast employees/ volunteers – providing relevant briefings where appropriate.  

• Support and collaborate with the Business Development Manager (Scotland) where shared funder relationships or new opportunities arise.  

• Develop and implement tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for new and existing HNWIs, leveraging and building relationships within and across Magic Breakfast networks’ to support our fundraising objectives.

• Support the Head of Major Giving to conduct effective annual planning and budgeting, setting, measuring and reporting against agreed KPIs and utilising data and insights to inform decisions and future planning.

• Ensure all HNWI income and activity is reconciled and recorded on Magic Breakfast database systems (Salesforce) with relevant supporting documents, including gift aid and gift instruments in place.  

• Work with finance and performance and relevant business leads to manage programme budgets and restrictions.  

• As requested, provide regular reports and updates to the Head of Major Giving, Director of Fundraising & Development and other stakeholders as required.

The Felix Project and FareShare have recently merged to form the UK's largest food redistribution charity. Its vision is a UK where good food is never wasted, and nobody goes hungry.

The organisation rescues high quality edible surplus food, from across the food industry and gets it to over 8,000 organisations across the UK who are working to strengthen communities and improve lives.

The charity manages seven depots across London, Suffolk, Merseyside and Hampshire and works with 16 network partners who operate a further 26 regional depots across the UK.

Over the next year our ambition is to rescue enough food nationally to provide nearly 200 million meals, turning an environmental problem into social good with measurable impact for people, planet, and the economy.

Purpose of the Job

Commercial Manager will identify, develop and manage top food partners relationships and strengthen existing business relationships with companies in the food industry, generating value for the partner and to secure growing and sustainable volumes of surplus food for the FareShare Network. For designated top food partners, you will be their day-to-day point of contact with regular face to face contact at all levels.

You will undertake structured, strategic account management, leading and coordinating FareShare’s engagement across our organisation. This will mean agreeing and executing a bespoke joint business plan with each account to get more food, money and strategic support. You will also feedback on ways that we can better support our accounts and improve our services to them. You will work directly and be on-site with top food partners to help identify and overcome the barriers which exist to giving surplus food to people in need as well as increasing money and strategic resource.

You will also be required to work closely with FareShare colleagues within FareShare and across the UK in our partner organisations in order to identify and understand opportunities for creating mutual and shared value.

Duties and Responsibilities

Partnership Management

• Contribute to the development of consistent, structured Joint Business plans with

designated accounts that take into account food, funding and other strategic initiatives to drive growth in food, money and other strategic resources

• Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics, Operations and Network Development teams with the aim of optimising food out to our network

• Develop and lead FareShare cross-departmental strategic activity to enable us to derive maximum value from key food partners including liaising with fundraising, marketing and volunteering teams.

You'll take the lead on shaping our Health & Safety approach, offering expert advice, strengthening our safety culture, and building strong relationships with teams across the country. Every day, you'll help bring our values and behaviours to life while playing a key role in supporting the wider fight for mental health.

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds the NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and brings solid experience in a Health & Safety management role within a similar environment.
• Can translate complex technical information into clear, accessible guidance for colleagues at all levels.
• Has experience managing risk assessments, statutory compliance and provider/contractor relationships with confidence.
• Thrives working independently, juggling multiple priorities, and building strong partnerships across diverse teams.
