In this role, you’ll provide confident, compassionate operational leadership to our Inpatient Unit, guiding a skilled and dedicated team to deliver holistic, high‑quality palliative care to patients and their families.

As a key member of the Inpatient Unit Senior Management Team, you’ll work closely with the Head of Inpatient Services and Nurse Consultant to shape a positive, high‑performing culture rooted in our CORE values and a shared commitment to excellence.

Main duties of the job

• Direct management and motivation of the In-Patient Palliative Care Unit including but not limited to; Recruitment, induction & onboarding, training, delegation, North London Hospice management of performance and attendance, participating in the recognition and appraisal processes
• 24-hour operational responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Head of IPU
• Providing general management across the unit 60% and working clinically 40%, supporting the development of the team through rota management, training and education, prioritising service delivery and improvement, reporting of patient progress and concerns, managing complaints and concerns, ensuring staff members complete training, working with the Learning and Development team to ensure changes are appropriately supported with education.
• Continuous Improvement; Leading, facilitating and implementing audit and research findings, including service improvements, developing a proactive approach that enables effective and efficient nursing responses to complex cases and emergent problems, 
• Decision Making Responsibility is at management level – making decisions that impact the immediate team (team of 40), consulting with the HO In-Patient Services on anything that impacts the wider organisation.
• Key working relationships including; Daily/weekly - Palliative Care team, patients, patient relatives, consultants, specialist service providers volunteers, HR, bank staff, other care departments.

Senior Social Worker

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Social Work Service at St Joseph’s Hospice, based in Hackney. As a Senior Social Worker, you will work as part of a committed and creative team, which offers innovative social care interventions and support to people with palliative and end-of-life care needs, and to their families, carers and children.

The social work team works in collaboration with other clinical professionals and volunteers across all areas of the service: inpatient, outpatient and community. The team includes social workers, a dedicated carers service lead and welfare benefits lead. In addition to clinical case work and line management responsibilities, the Senior Social Worker deputises for the Social Work Manager in their absence, providing cover for day-to-day operational matters.

About you

We are looking for:

• Post-qualifying experience working in the context of palliative or end-of-life care or a related area
• Post-qualifying experience of individual staff management and professional supervision
• Experience of managing and coordinating complex casework and safeguarding concerns across professional groups and agencies

The Role

As our Head of Fundraising & Business Development, you will lead efforts to secure and diversify funding, building a sustainable resource base to support our global mission.

Enquiries

• To be the first point of contact for all enquiries into the College managed through a digital ticketing system.
• Respond to enquiries using information and knowledge from all departments of the College, which often involves the interpretation and application of rules and procedures.  Use judgement to triage what action is required, where appropriate.
• Respond to all enquiries relating to qualification journeys, which includes information about the qualification/course, assistance in applying and payment, processing updates, help with learning journey on Learning Management System (LMS), the awarding and recertification of qualifications.
• Respond to all enquiries relating to membership, which includes help choosing the appropriate membership type and associated fees, renewals, upgrades, direct debits, and cancellation.
• Respond to all other enquiries, such as information on CoSRH events, and from prospective members about the work and activity of the College.

Qualification processing

• Responsible for the administration and processing of all CoSRH qualifications, recertifications and recertification audits in line with agreed procedures and service level agreements (SLAs).

Operational coordination

• Act as the first point of contact for Development and Engagement requests across the organisation.

The Philanthropy Manager will manage a portfolio of key philanthropic relationships and increase the value of the relationships with existing supporters. The post holder will create and develop giving circles too and will work to an agreed plan for each approach and actively solicit gifts personally where appropriate.

Purpose of the role:

The Energy Advice Coordinator will provide essential advice to people affected by spinal cord injury who are struggling with, or at risk of fuel poverty, helping them to improve their situation while recognising and responding to the unique challenges that spinal cord injury can bring. They will manage a caseload offering practical solutions, whilst developing referral pathways to connect them with relevant services to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their fuel costs.

The role will also lead the development of knowledge and skills across Back Ups’ staff and volunteer teams, developing easy to use resources and an understanding of when and how to escalate cases for more in-depth advice. They will work closely with sector charities and advice organisations to ensure a high quality of seamless support while creating a lasting legacy for people affected by spinal cord injury.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To provide impartial advice to householders on the telephone, at events or online group events.
• Make use of internal and external referral systems to ensure clients’ needs are met;
•  Respond to enquiries from the public, local authority staff, private and voluntary sectors or installers and, where appropriate, redirecting them to members of staff or other agencies;
• Maintain quality of advice and information as required
• Work with the wider Back Up team to create resources to support people affected by spinal cord injury, both digitally and physically.
• Work with Back Up’s services team to embed and deliver group based online advice sessions in our support groups and course modules.
• Develop and lead a programme to ensure Back Up’s services staff and volunteers develop a baseline of knowledge that enables them to identify and provide basic information to people affected by spinal cord injury around energy efficiency.
• Conduct thorough assessments of clients' energy needs and identify potential solutions and further sources of support through telephone-based support.
• Provide tailored advice on energy-saving measures and support schemes to the caseload.
• Work collaboratively with local authorities, energy providers, and other relevant organisations to ensure comprehensive support for those in the caseload.
• Educate people affected by spinal cord injury on energy efficiency and ways to reduce their energy consumption.
• Maintain accurate records of all interactions and support provided, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
• Support the project manager with the development, delivery, and evaluation of the energy advice project.
• To maintain up to date, working knowledge of sustainable energy matters, affordable warmth, renewable energy, water heating and usage.
• At all times, ensure that advice service and activity are in line with the requirements of the project;
• Effectively utilise existing sources of data to identify suitable opportunities to meet customers’ needs.

The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation is a drug and alcohol education charity, founded by Fiona and Tim Spargo-Mabbs in 2014 in response to the death of their 16-year-old son Dan having taken ecstasy. The charity aims to support young people to make safer choices and reduce harm, through increasing their understanding of the effects and risks of drugs and alcohol, and improving their life skills & resilience. The Corporate and Community Fundraiser will be responsible for raising money from the community and local/national organisations at our small but always rapidly growing and highly motivated charity.
