Finance Officer - Payroll (6 month Fixed Term Contract)

Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2 days in the office, and 3 days remote.

• Administer  payrolls for lay staff, ministers and pensioners, ensuring accuracy in tax codes, entitlements, deductions and other adjustments are in line with instructions from HMRC, HR , circuit treasurers and other clients.
• Ensure that all statutory and voluntary deductions are  correctly applied and remit monthly payments to appropriate  recipients.
• Prepare and post payroll summaries to the nominal ledger and reconcile control and  loan accounts monthly.
• Update and remit Real Time Information submissions (including FPS and EPS) to HMRC and upload tax code changes.
• Reconcile and remit monthly payments to HMRC for income tax, National Insurance contributions and other statutory recoveries.
• Generate  monthly debit statements, respond to payroll-related  queries from staff, ministers and treasurers, and provide payroll information to HR , HMRC and other relevant government agencies

About the role:

Guts UK is the only charity that covers the digestive system from top to tail, including the gut, the liver and the pancreas. The charity focuses particularly on the conditions that have no other specific charity or voice - conditions that are underserved, such as pancreatitis, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), childhood gut and liver disease, and digestive cancers. With their mission being to improve the lives of the millions of people affected by digestive conditions, they are looking for their first Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager to help them reach that goal.

The Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing plans to maximise income from corporate partners and high net worth individuals with the propensity to donate significant sums. There is huge scope to develop both income streams at Guts UK, as this is the first dedicated position covering these income streams.

With some fantastic corporate partnerships in place already, there is great potential to build on the existing foundations and leverage those corporate partnerships to secure more ranging from transactional right up to transformational.

About the role

As our Senior Marketing Manager - Retention & Engagement, you will strategically lead the team responsible for the £34 million existing supporter income stream and work closely with and the wider Supporter Marketing Team and teams across Communication and Fundraising to maximise Supporter Lifetime Value.

In this role, you will:

• Own and deliver the strategic priorities for Supporter Engagement and Retention, holding accountability for the £34 million income target and the maximisation of Supporter Lifetime Value.
• Provide direct line management to a team of five specialists, leading the strategic prioritisation and delivery of the entire retention portfolio (Appeals, HV, Email, Stewardship, Magazine).
• Lead the annual and long-term budget planning process, driving accurate forecasting and optimal resource allocation for the retention function.
• Design and champion the omnichannel Supporter Journey roadmap, ensuring a unified, personalised experience that strengthens supporter loyalty and engagement.
• Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.

Requirements

To be successful, you will need:

• Retention Strategy & Income Accountability: Proven track record of managing a significant income stream from existing supporters, demonstrating success in reducing attrition and growing supporter lifetime value.
• Leadership & Budget Mastery: Experience in leading and managing a small, high-impact team of specialists, coupled with expertise in annual budget planning, forecasting, and reforecasting.
• Engagement & Digital Expertise: Deep expertise in developing and optimising complex supporter loyalty programmes and automating multi-channel journeys, including proficiency in email marketing.
• Collaboration & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build strong senior-level relationships and drive alignment across Fundraising and Communications teams.

Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:

• Experience managing or overseeing Mid-Value Donor strategies within a mass-market context.
• Prior experience working in the Non-Profit or International Development Sector.
• A professional CIM/IDM Qualification (or equivalent).

The Citizen Engagement Officer at The Food Foundation will provide support for our citizen engagement work. Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering offers an activity centre to residents of Redbridge aged 55 or above, to use for exercise and craft among other classes, and to enjoy light refreshments and a daily, 2 course, freshly prepared lunch.

A part time cook is required, to provide lunches (main course and dessert) and work alongside a small team to include; two other part time cooks and approximately 12 volunteers.  The centre is overseen by an onsite manager who will look after the day to day running of the centre, and who line manages the cooks and volunteers.

The ability to work independently and with the help of a kitchen assistant volunteer is essential in order to prepare between 10 and 30 meals per day. We are looking for a qualified, experienced cook, with recent experience. You will need to have proof of relevant Food Hygiene training and an understanding of different dietary requirements, as well as allergy legislation and health and safety knowledge relevant to Kitchen work.

You would be expected to assist the manager in planning meals to keep within budgets and to assist with the preparation for special event occasion menus or other ad hoc catering that may be required.
