Job description

The Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) wants to change the culture in UK education so that authentic research and innovation is part of every young person’s experience.

We’re looking for a skilled and thoughtful professional to join our small, collaborative and ambitious team as Impact & Evaluation Officer.

Working closely with the Head of Impact and Policy and colleagues across IRIS, you will strengthen our monitoring, evaluation, research and data practice. You will help colleagues collect and use high-quality evidence, manage and analyse data, coordinate research assignments and communicate findings clearly to internal and external audiences.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop IRIS monitoring and evaluation practice, advising colleagues on programme monitoring, survey design, sampling and data collection.
  • Manage and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring quality assurance, consent and data protection requirements are followed.
  • Deliver internal research and coordinate external evaluation and research assignments, producing robust evidence and reports.
  • Turn evidence into accessible insights, case studies and impact stories for colleagues, partners, trustees and other audiences.
  • Engage schools, teachers and IRIS alumni so that young people’s and educators’ experiences inform programmes and new initiatives.

This is an exciting time to join IRIS and an opportunity to play a central role in building the evidence base that supports our strategic objectives and helps demonstrate the value of authentic research and innovation in schools.

We welcome applicants from diverse personal and professional backgrounds, including people living with disabilities and those from underrepresented groups. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process.
