Here at the Royal British Legion, we are currently embarking on an exciting new phase within our Membership directorate. As part of our new ten year strategy, we are pleased to be seeking a Head of Youth in a newly created, leadership role.

As a key member of the Membership, Armed Forces and Community Engagement team, this role will contribute to the delivery of our new strategy leading a nationally-scaled, innovative youth approach, creating the conditions for our organisation to thrive for future generations.

Reporting into our new Director: Armed Forces Engagement, Partnerships and Youth, this exciting new role will see you identify and develop strategic, high-impact youth partnerships at a national level (including in the devolved nations) that help us reach more young people in new, exciting and innovative ways, advancing RBL’s vision of “Bringing Society Together to Recognise, Remember and Support the Armed Forces Community”.

You will lead the development, delivery and evolution of an RBL youth plan, highlighting the role of the RBL and positioning youth engagement as a long-term strategic enabler of our Armed Forces Community. This will include work across schools and youth organisations, with a particular emphasis on remembrance activities, and developing a Cadet Forces Engagement strategy.

Managing a small and newly created team, key responsibilities will include:

- Develop and implement a Cadet Forces engagement and partnership working strategy aimed at both cadets and CFAVs which seeks to raise awareness and understanding of the role of the armed forces community, promotes engagement in remembrance activities (including the wearing of the Poppy) and develops and understanding of the role of RBL
- lead the development and approval of the RBL Schools and Learning Strategy, fostering collaboration across departments to maximise engagement with school-age children
- Working with our current youth members, re-design and re-launch the youth membership, ensuring RBL has a relevant, engaging and attractive youth membership offer
- Demonstrate creativity, initiative and thought-leadership in planning, piloting and developing youth initiatives with partners
- Act as a champion for young people internally and externally to partners

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Policy and Public Affairs and working closely with colleagues across EngineeringUK as well as our partners, you will be instrumental to the delivery of our policy and public affairs programme.

You will lead on policy projects and on developing organisational policy positions, producing reports and responses to government consultations (with a focus on education and skills).  You will be working with the Public Affairs Advisor and other colleagues to communicate these messages to government. You will also be responsible for engaging with stakeholders, internally and externally, requiring you to be an excellent team player and collaborator. You will have a good understanding of how to use research and data to identify trends and support policy development and be a confident and persuasive communicator. You need to be able to work independently and be adept at managing multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment.

The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK. We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and the option for a flexible start and end to the working day in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames. Legacy giving is a vital and growing part of Greenpeace UK's fundraising programme, generating £5–7.5 million each year and playing a crucial role in securing long-term, sustainable income. Following a recent step-change in investment, there is now a significant opportunity to accelerate growth and position legacy giving more centrally across Greenpeace UK’s fundraising and supporter engagement.

This role is central to Greenpeace UK’s legacy programme, managing a varied caseload from straightforward estates to complex and high-value cases. As a newly created position, it brings legacy administration fully in-house and will play a key role in ensuring income is realised in full, accurately managed, and delivered in line with best practice.

As Legacy Case Manager, you will: 

• Manage a caseload of residuary, pecuniary, life interest, discretionary, and high-value legacies, including contentious cases
• Lead on the preparation, monitoring and reporting of the legacy income budget and mid year forecasts, working closely with Finance and Fundraising colleagues to provide accurate, timely projections and variance analysis
• Work closely with internal teams and build effective external relationships with solicitors, executors and families to support positive outcomes
• Identify and resolve complex issues involving probate, trusts, tax, property, or litigation
• Represent Greenpeace UK externally with professionalism, fostering constructive relationships with pledgers, executors, solicitors, and sector peers

Essential skills and experience:

• Substantial experience in charity legacy and estate administration, both contentious and non-contentious

The Senior Fundraising Executive (Grants) leads on bid-writing and relationship building with grantmakers (Trusts/Foundations/Public). Responsibilities 

Strategy & Leadership 

• Provide executive leadership to the organisation, fostering a high-performance, inclusive and values-led culture aligned with the charity’s mission.

• Act as an ambassador for TKN, promoting its work and campaigns to engage, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders. 

Governance & Operations:

• Lead the Operations function. Manage the Systems and Operations Officer to ensure our robust systems and operations continue to run effectively at a high quality and enable the charity to achieve its stated goals. 

• Provide executive oversight of HR, demonstrating knowledge of HR compliance and law, supporting with serious HR matters and providing leadership support on people matters, performance management and staff development.

• Oversee the use of key technology platforms, ensuring that the charity is operating in the most efficient way, in accordance with UK GDPR and promoting data hygiene and security and supporting the Operations officer to develop guides and standard operating procedures 

• Hold executive accountability for organisational compliance, risk management, and operational integrity. Act as the lead for the charity in the event of a serious data or H&S incident. 

• Lead the organisational risk register and risk management, ensuring risks are proactively identified, mitigated, managed and communicated to our board of Trustees and the CEO 

• Maintain awareness of relevant policy, legislative, regulatory, and sector developments, ensuring organisational readiness and compliance. 

• Work closely with the CEO and chair of the Resource Committee to set the agenda and plan for papers for this committee (3 times a year). 

• Act as the key contact with the landlord and the charity’s IT contractors, as and when required 

Income Generation, Partnerships and Communication:

• Oversee the coordination and delivery of key fundraising activities, supporting the organisation’s income generation through strategic oversight and targeted input where required. Lead and line manage the Fundraising and Development Lead.

• Play a key role in planning and delivering the 10-year anniversary event in May 2027. 

• Develop, manage, and strengthen high-level strategic funder relationships and networks, building a strong pipeline of partnerships to support income targets.

• Lead and line manage the Schools and Partnerships Lead to achieve ambitious school targets and secure positive partnerships with schools

• Utilise the organisation’s data systems to identify relevant insights and stories, leading the development of the 2026 Impact Report. 

• Work with the external Marketing Provider and Schools and Partnerships Lead to deliver the organisation’s communications strategy to maintain a strong digital and online presence 

Finance & Sustainability 

• Hold accountability for the operational delivery and financial sustainability of the charity. 

• Work closely with the CEO and external Financial Service Provider to develop organisational budgets, support with the annual independent examiner and ensure effective financial planning, management, and oversight. 

• Ensure financial performance, risks, and forecasts are clearly and appropriately communicated to the CEO, Board. 

• Support income sustainability by aligning delivery with funding strategy and identifying opportunities for growth and partnership. 

• Act as main liaison between the charity and the Financial Service Provider, ensuring that both the charity and contractor adhere to the organisation's financial procedures

• Proven senior leadership experience at director level or equivalent in the charity, public, or social sector, including leading teams and engaging boards.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior CRM Support Officer to join our dedicated CRM team, supporting our internal database system (CHIP).

Working within a small but influential team, you will act as the main point of contact for system users across the organisation, providing high-quality first and second-line support via multiple channels. The role will be responsible for working across a large and complex organisation with a newly launched strategy, to identify and develop compelling narratives and strategic, transformational propositions that will enable them to secure significant funding across all income streams.
