About this job

Please note this is a fixed term contract for one year.

Our organisation is transforming the way in which it works and the HR team will be at the heart of these changes, supporting managers and teams on a variety of projects.

You’ll have worked in a similar role at this level. You’ll have substantial experience of advising on grievances, disciplinary matters and sickness absence. In addition, you will undertake general HR administration, payroll input each month and provide cover for colleagues within the HR Operations team as and when required.

In this exciting role you will be responsible for implementing the charity’s Individual Giving, Legacy and In Memory fundraising programmes (target of £1.3m in 2024).

You will manage a team of two with the support from the Head of Fundraising, with whom you will work closely with to develop a series of targeted multi-channelled appeals and campaigns to engage with existing supporters and to attract, recruit and retain new ones.

Purpose

This is a vital role sitting as part of the Senior leadership team at Hope and contributing to the future sustainability and development of Hope.

The purpose of the role is to manage all aspects of Income Generation and manage the commissioned projects which Hope run.

Developing a long term sustainable income generation portfolio you will have responsibility for your own income generation and manage the fundraising team to deliver their financial targets, motivating and monitoring them to achieve success.

Our current income generation activity currently generates around £1.2million per annum and it is the post holders responsibility to grow this income to achieve £1.5million per annum in the next 5 years to ensure Hope can achieve it’s newly launched Operational Strategy.

There is also a likely a facility move in the future, where the Head of Development would need to access funds, in addition to operational budget, for a facility transformation project.

As Line Manager for Hope’s commissioned projects you will have overall responsibility to deliver on the contracts for which we have been commissioned and identify growth potential for the organisation.

Responsibilities

• To Manage all aspects of income generation at Hope.
• To deliver a diverse fundraising portfolio to ensure long-term sustainability.
• To lead a small team of fundraisers and work with the Marketing Manager to achieve income levels as determined by the CEO and Board of trustees.
• To Line Manage and lead on all commissioned work, people recruited and project management.
• To be responsible for all reporting related to grants, trusts and/commissioned work.

Management:

• Lead a small team of dedicated Fundraising Senior Coordinators to access funds to ensure the ongoing delivery of Hopes Homeless, Hunger and Hardship priorities.

• To manage all posts associated with commissioned project’s sitting outside our core objectives,
• To ensure that the values of Hope are embedded across all the work we do.

Fundraising

• Work closely with Marketing Manager to ensure a clear public donation pathway exists linking to website, social media, events promotion, and any other marketing- tracking success of each communication approach at increasing income.
• To manage all grants and trusts contracts from application to reporting and ongoing engagements.
• Lead on major donor, VIP and legacy events to ensure further income opportunities.
• To manage all commissioned projects from application, to oversight of project delivery, including management of posts recruited to reporting and ongoing engagement.
• Lead any future capital fundraising appeals for new of existing facilities.

General:

• To be an active and effective member of the Senior Leadership team and ambassador for the work of the organisation, our strategic framework 2024-2029 and our values in all you do.

The Talent Set are delighted to be working with London's Air Ambulance Charity, supporting them to recruit a Deputy Head of Philanthropy (Trusts) maternity cover. This role will start at a key time in strategy development and long term planning, as they enter the final phase of their incredibly successful Up Against Time Appeal to replace their two helicopters.

As they enter the final phase of the appeal, having raised £11.5m of their £15m target (with a number of further pledges confirmed) this role will focus on developing the long term Trusts fundraising strategy. As Deputy Head of Philanthropy you will be tasked with considering the opportunities presented by the new 15 year organisational strategy, and contributing to the wider Philanthropy, Partnerships and Events team plans to ensure they have a strong footing as they look to the long term and next 15 years of London's Air Ambulance Charity. 

As Deputy Head of Philanthropy you will not only lead on strategy development but also build and develop the Trusts pipeline, leading and developing the Trusts and Prospect Research teams to improve internal processes and influence/respond to upcoming fundraising opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Trusts and Prospect Research teams and programmes through a year of maternity cover, ensuring both areas are in a strong position on the return of the substantive postholder. 
• Act as LAAC's Trust and Lead Gift (£500k+) fundraising expert, leading the Trusts and Prospect Research teams to be ambitious and consider the long term funding opportunities for the charity. 
• Lead the team through the transition from the Up Against Time Appeal to focus on the new 15 year organisational strategy and opportunities it presents to develop the pipeline for new projects.
• Take ownership of the Trusts, Foundations and Statutory pipeline, leading income generation from these sources with a personal focus on £100k+ opportunities, while informing the organisation's approach to restricted fundraising opportunities.
• Support the development of direct reports and wider Philanthropy, Partnerships and Events team. 

Person Specification:

• Strong sector knowledge and technical expertise of Trust fundraising, with experience of securing £100k+ support from trusts, foundations and/or statutory sources. 
• Demonstrable experience of developing and fundraising for restricted projects, monitoring income and expenditure budgets.
• Effective pipeline development skills and the ability to support a Prospect Research function to identify new opportunities.
