Delphside Limited is entering an exciting phase of change, but is mindful of the challenges the mental health care and charity sector as a whole is facing.

To help mitigate this this, we are looking to enhance our Governance and control systems in terms of our financial and administration management.

The role is a temporary role (6-12 months) to help direct and support changes of financial systems, data control processes and to help ensure the current team, including our current Finance Manager, are supported with the implementation of a more up to date and effective way of working.

Ideally you will be a fully qualified accountant, but equally we would welcome applications from individuals who are qualified by experience or accredited qualification (e.g. AAT Level 4, ACCA/ACA qualified etc.) It is essential you have proven experience of delivering strategic leadership in finance, preferably (but not essentially) in the charitable sector and that you can deliver changes of processes and systems.

Knowledge of Sage and also XERO systems would be beneficial.

Main Responsibilities :

· Provide full review of current financial controls, identify and implement a new financial I.T./software system suited to service needs.

· Oversee the procurement, implementation and transition to the new financial I.T./software system once it is identified.

· The post holder will assist with the strategic planning and budget preparation for the organisation as well as maintaining the charity's financial accounting systems.

· To provide support to the Finance Manager by overseeing the preparation of the organisation’s accounts for audit in accordance with current accounting good practice and Charity Commission’s Standards of Recommended Practice (SORP)

· Lead, develop and support a small dedicated finance and administration team

· Long term financial planning and assisting the CEO with succession planning in the finance area of the service, including creation of a financial risk register.

· Assist in setting the annual budget and report on performance.

· Oversee timely production by the Finance manager of monthly management accounts and the annual statutory accounts.

· Ensure a robust financial control environment and ensure all treasury and Financial Governance management are in place, suitable and effective.

· The post holder will have responsibility to ensure the organisation is compliant with legal and financial duties associated with those of a Charitable Company reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Trustees.

· Provide proactive assessment of opportunities to deliver efficiencies in collaboration with department heads where necessary.

· Undertake internal audit of systems and processes in place to ensure good financial Governance.

About the role

In this role, you will offer clinical supervision to the Macmillan Support Line teams including advisers, nurses, line managers, service knowledge specialists and other groups and individuals as needed. You will be part of a team of 3 part-time clinical supervisors and will be given opportunities to feedback on recurrent themes to the organisation. You will learn about organisational wellbeing and be a key part of a team capable of working in an emotionally challenging, fast paced, live contact centre environment.

You will be running regular small group supervision sessions (approximately 3 per day) for 1hr 15’ each, managing a caseload of approximately 25 groups monthly. You will also offer individual supervision where needed.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• You must hold one of the following qualifications: Clinical Supervision Level 6 or above; accredited Counsellor or Psychotherapist (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, UK Council for Psychotherapy, Health Professionals Council)
• Your experience of delivering both 1-1 and group supervision virtually will be essential
• Experience of delivering supervision to colleagues who provide a live, frontline, fast paced health related service is desirable

CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit organisations across the UK who specialise in adoption services. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The programme has developed a strong reputation for attracting a range of subject experts to deliver cost effective, engaging and useful training. Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the delivery of the programme from mid to late July 2024. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent.

The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development and the Programme Administrator to ensure that the courses are full, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.

The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a variety of patient-focused projects on different topics, against quality, time and cost constraints. You will manage projects from inception to delivery including publicising, following up on any recommendations, and promoting the impact that we make. As we are a small team you will also be expected to contribute collectively to a shared workload to keep the team working effectively.

Some of the projects which Healthwatch Brighton and Hove projects have delivered in the last year include:

• Improving home care services
• Improving dementia services
• Improving maternity services
• Tackling health inequalities

We have a strong team of employees and volunteers and you will be supported by our Head of Research and CEO.

Work Location

Our office is at Community Base, 113 Queens Road, Brighton. We’re a home-based team, but hold team meetings at the office every Monday and you will be expected to work in the office on this day. There is also an option of office working on Thursday and hot-desking in either the office or Community Works’ office space on other days.

We will provide line management, technology and equipment support to enable home working. Applicants must be prepared to undertake this role in either form of work setting.

Main responsibilities and duties:

1. To be responsible for all aspects of planning and delivering a portfolio of time-limited projects. Typically, this will include:

• scoping evidence-backed projects which support our wider strategic aims
• contributing to written project plans
• Using Excel or SPSS to analyse data
• leading on undertaking service review fieldwork including interviews, ‘Enter and View’ visits (where we visit services in person) and Mystery Shops of our local hospitals
• supporting others e.g. volunteers and other members of the team to undertake fieldwork
• drafting clear, well-written and evidence-backed reports
• developing workable recommendations
• presenting findings at internal and external meetings
• delivering promotional and publicity materials to support projects
• working in partnership with other groups to deliver projects.
•  All of the above will be carried out with the support of the Head of Research.

2. Proactively undertake any duties that assist with the smooth running of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove e.g. representing the organisation at meetings with a wide variety of stakeholders including the NHS, City Council, voluntary and community sector partners, taking part in promotional events, leading and supporting volunteers in project and representative work. This post will shadow other Project Coordinator’s before attending meetings alone.

3. To take shared responsibility with the rest of the team for developing and delivering the Healthwatch Brighton and Hove workplan.

4. Managing specific pieces of routine work that support the work of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove. Examples may include, supporting the production of an annual report, contributing to newsletters, helping to maintain our social media presence and updating our web site, etc.

 5. Undertake other duties as may be appropriate to the role, in accordance with the values, policies and procedures of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove as well as the ‘Ways of Working’ statement attached to this Job Description.

• Experience gained from work or personal experience of delivering and planning small-scale time-limited projects to deadline and/or budget
• Experience of reviewing services and/or conducting research fieldwork (planning and delivering research)
• Experience of project management and project planning
• Experience of preparing and presenting written reports that include detailed information to a diverse range of audiences.

Knowledge

We have a great opportunity for an efficient and organised individual to join our Governance Team, providing maternity leave cover. 

Working closely with two other Governance Officers, you will provide support and guidance to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Council and its Committees. The three Governance Officers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of Council and Committee work, as well as the running and administration of key CSP events. This includes arranging meetings, maintaining accurate records/policies, overseeing elections and appointments. The team also organises the annual representative conference and general meeting.

With your first class organisational and communication skills and an adaptable approach, you will be at ease working to tight, and often changing, deadlines and work streams. You will have working experience with a governing body or committee, and ideally have worked in a similar position within a membership, professional body or trade union. A proven understanding of the concepts and workings of corporate governance is essential, along with excellent IT skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Office.
