Haven House Children’s Hospice supports hundreds of families, looking after children and young people who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Our mission is to provide the highest quality palliative and holistic care services to children and their families in our local communities. This new and exciting role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work across our community and event income lines, taking responsibility for raising income from a wide variety of supporters. Administration Officer – England Central
We are recruiting an Administration Officer to provide an effective and comprehensive range of administrative support to workstreams/projects, which will enable the charity to fulfil its function across Central England to a high-quality standard.
What you will do:
Coordinate training bookings, using the diary system, email and databases to ensure training is organised, allocated and delivered.
Create resource pack for colleagues delivering training courses and workshops.
Help to facilitate training delivery nationally, responding to email and telephone enquiries, ensuring preparation, materials, resources, venues, for all events are in place when required.
Help to plan, contribute to and attend PAPYRUS conferences, workshops and events as required.
Collate evaluations and feedback from training and project work.
Act as a first point of contact, including enquiries which may be complex in nature; assessing the nature and urgency of the correspondence and responding or referring to colleagues as appropriate.
Record all enquiries and contacts using the CRM database and ensure that the database is maintained and accurate at all times.
Assist with managing the office diary, arranging and organising meetings/bookings as required.
Manage stock and resources ensuring that the required items are available.
Administer petty cash as required in line with financial processes.
Respond to orders and other requests for information, from stakeholders, by phone, mail and email, according to policy and keep accurate and up to date records.
Undertake general clerical and administrative tasks to support the service as required (e.g., posting items, photocopying, scanning).
To be successful in this role you will have:
Demonstrable experience in an office administrator role or equivalent
A good working knowledge of Microsoft packages (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and hands on IT experience of database packages including electronic filing systems and online platforms.
Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to resolve issues and identify solutions, seeking support and guidance where required
Salary: £23,114 per annum (NALC Scale SCP 4) progressing by increments to £23,893 per annum (NALC Scale SCP 6)

Duties and Key relationships Marketing and Communications
This is a new role in the Marketing and Communications department and is responsible for the media relations of the Charity.
PR and Media Relations
• To develop relevant media contacts, as well as contacts in the sector, to maximise the reach and coverage of key communications campaigns as well as wider organisational projects.
• Produce creative copy written for a variety of audience groups which champions and shows best practice of our tone of voice
• Develop and support in house PR roll out
· Work with external PR agency on selected press releases where relevant
· Write press releases in line with campaign launches and key moments
· Develop pitches and news stories and other promotional copy.
· Lead on media briefings that convey appropriate key messages and prepare spokespeople
· Identify and interview case studies and media spokespeople
· Pull together monthly Data Analysis reports with the support of the Marketing and Communications Manager
· Send out weekly coverage reports with the Digital Marketing Officer, monitor external activity (including competitor) and incorporate best practice.

Communications
• Maintain the communications calendar
• Research, write and distribute media outreach activities such as press releases, media comments, media briefs, features, blogs and letters to editors
• Be the first point of contact for media enquiries and manage the press office function in a timely manner.
• Maintain library system for press cuttings, monitor cuttings and report on results
• Lead on gathering powerful stories that highlight the impact of childhood cancer on the lives of children, young people and families
• Work closely with the fundraising and digital teams to coordinate and respond to the different needs for case studies
• Maintain a detailed and GDPR compliant contact management system of all case studies
• Work closely with the Digital Team to ensure that all campaigns and content produced is reflected on the website and across social media accounts
Families
• Maintain relationships with current patient families who are sharing their cancer journey stories with the media.
• Produce stories of patient families and share online and social media
• Work with a diverse range of case studies and media spokespeople and ensure they are treated in an appropriate and safe manner.
• Be key spokesperson for families media storytelling
Other
• Contribute to the overall Marketing and Communications function of Children with Cancer UK
• Carry out any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post

As a Support and Advocacy Officer you will join a skilled team who collectively provide a unique UK-wide support and advocacy service to over 1500 members.
You will primarily provide direct support and practical guidance to our Fabry members. This patient group is largely adult focused but there will be elements of family and child support. You will raise awareness within both the Fabry community and external agencies; and contribute to the development of resources, to promote self-advocacy within the patient group. A key objective of the role will be to build a sense of community and identity for our Fabry membership. Safeguarding Officer
Specific Responsibilities
To provide ongoing strategic development, support and administration for effective safeguarding in RDA by way of:
- developing and delivering the action plan and ongoing objectives from the BEF Audit/ Framework Plan and RDA Safeguarding strategy
- continuous improvement and relevance of all Safeguarding materials and resources, to ensure RDA UK’s Safeguarding policy and statutory obligations and expectations are met, including relevant actions following BEF Safeguarding Action Team (SAT) meetings
- handling communication of Safeguarding reports, concerns and requests for guidance from the RDA UK network
- Safeguarding Case Management support to Membership Services Manager and other RDA UK Safeguarding staff, as appropriate
- working collaboratively with the RDA UK Safeguarding Lead and other relevant RDA UK staff and volunteers to plan, deliver and review projects that improve outcomes for children and adults at risk, within the RDA UK network
- liaising with and advising other members of the RDA UK team and working groups on Safeguarding best practice, policies and requirements, including specific projects or events
- dealing promptly with enquiries received from RDA Groups about policies, procedures and training requirements/ needs and responding to any feedback given
- maintenance of the Safeguarding content on the MyRDA website, to ensure that it is current, clear and relevant
- providing RDA Groups around the UK with guidance, and signposting them to relevant providers of Disclosure Checks; ensuring policies and resources are kept up to date
- coordinating the delivery of regular accredited training courses (both in person and virtual) and training/workshops, in conjunction with regional trainers and relevant external bodies
- developing, maintaining and administering Safeguarding e-learning courses and materials
- provision of accurate data analysis, recommendations, updates and case management report statistics, for RDA UK Board

We are seeking a Finance Officer with a keen eye for detail, and an aptitude for learning new skills, to take on purchase ledger and payroll administration duties in our Finance Department. You will have either begun on the path of attaining a financial qualification or had some experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all purchases, payments and returns, including supplier invoices, staff payments (salaries, expenses and advances), project and contractor payments and credit card transactions. Responsible for project reporting against budget.
Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):
- Ownership of the purchase ledger system, administering the entire process of invoice receiving, checking, coding, distributing for approval, posting to the accounts software (currently Sage), setting up domestic and international payments for authorisation, and electronic filing of documents.
- Administering all credit card returns including distribution of statements to colleagues, checking and coding returns, collating documents, submitting for line-manager approval, posting to Sage and following up on outstanding items.
- Administering staff and contractors expense claims, advances, returns and funds transfer requests, including checking and coding, submitting for budget-holder approval, arranging payment both domestic and international, and electronic filing of documents.
- Recording project expenditure against budget and drafting project financial returns to meet funder deadlines.

SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on preventing epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP). By representing the voices of those who have died and who are bereaved, we aim to learn from deaths, and use research, policy and campaigns to raise awareness and take action that helps save lives.
Working both independently and with the wider team you will deliver a high-quality community fundraising service. The Role
Being an Outdoor Learning Officer involves collaborating with schools to integrate Outdoor Learning into their curricula and provide opportunities for children and young people to have positive experiences in natural environments, focusing on underserved groups and those most in need of support. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of our schools offer to ensure the success of Outdoor Learning programmes in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Delivery and Collaboration:
- Develop a bespoke Outdoor Learning offer to schools as part of our Foundations for Outdoor Learning and/or Enriching Education programmes, considering various factors such as location, catchment area, size and type of groups, use of resources and landscape.
- Plan and deliver Outdoor Learning sessions for eligible schools, on school grounds, in local green spaces and at Low Beckside Farm, devising activities and developing appropriate learning resources for each session and agreed outcome.
- Support the delivery of sessions at Low Beckside Farm for groups attending as part of their OWL (Outdoor Week of Learning) residential.
- Work with schools and teachers for effective delivery of programmes.
- Contribute to impact assessments through data collection, observations, and evaluation paperwork.
- Comply with all risk assessments, Health & Safety policies and safeguarding considerations.
- Build a network among schools, aligning their needs with the Trust’s programmes.
- Coordinate with other Outdoor Learning Officers for collaboration with each other and local networks.
Development and Promotion:
- Support the development of our site at Low Beckside Farm as a venue for high-quality school learning.
- Assist Learning Operations Lead in establishing and maintaining key relationships and projects and promoting Outdoor Learning programmes by attending relevant events.
- Contribute to the development of the Trust through engagement with grantees/beneficiaries in Cumbria and facilitation of the Outdoor Practitioners’ Education Network (OPEN) meetings, and explore opportunities for collaborative efforts.
- Participate in the development of learning policies and procedures, including risk assessments, Health & Safety protocols, training needs, and safeguarding.

We offer a targeted programme of support, individually designed for each school, based on a needs analysis and conversations with staff. This will follow one of two pathways:
Foundations for Outdoor Learning
This programme is a comprehensive, long-term support package for schools wanting to embed Outdoor Learning into their curriculum and practice. Support may include teacher CPD, mentoring, and advice on how to optimise use of your school grounds. We do this on your school site, with some supported visits to local green spaces and our own learning locations.
Enriching Education
This programme uses The Ernest Cook Trust’s own learning locations - woodlands, farms, rivers and other natural landscapes - together with our Outdoor Learning leaders to support a school’s Outdoor Learning provision. This may be a school’s first experience of Outdoor Learning, or it may enhance and extend existing programmes. Either way, we aim to inspire all participants to spend more time
outdoors.
