We are looking for 2 talented, creative and experienced Events Officers to work in our already established team. 

UKIM is one of the premier faith based civil society organisations working in the UK to serve the needs of the Muslim community in the UK. The reform includes major changes at governance and executive level and relocating its Head Office from London to Oldham.

The job holder is expected to provide inclusive and visionary leadership that inspires, engages and motivates employees, supporters and partners. To deliver UKIM’s vision and mission and to develop the organisation’s leading position within UK’s civil society community.

Main Responsibilities:

• To assist in the delivery of UKIM’s events programme across the UK and be part of the team that supports the national leadership of the organisation in delivering events (including fundraising and marketing events) as per agreed strategy and plan.

• To assist in securing event funding and ensuring monitoring and evaluation of all events is conducted on a regular basis. 

• To assist in developing event strategies and operational plans, building relationships and liaising with partners and local Branches.

• To be effective member of the Events Department by assisting in development of and following clear procedures and processes for meeting strategic objectives of UKIM.

• To arrange and manage all events within UKIM at a local, regional and national level.

• To assist in creating a professional, end to end approach for all UKIM events, ensuring consistency across the whole event lifecycle, including documentation, feedback and review process.

• To assist the Events manager in agreeing an annual Events schedule with the board of Trustees across all areas of UKIM.

• To assist in implementing, managing and developing Project strategy, operations, risk management strategy, monitoring & evaluation systems and budgets ensuring they are in accordance with UKIM’s global policies, principles and approach.

• To assist the Events Manager in line managing all volunteer or employed event managers and staff in field or regional offices.

• To assist in effective management, support and development of staff and volunteers involved in Event implementation.

• To visit events and branches country-wide to oversee and evaluate events and to encourage, advise and monitor staff.

• To ensure that UKIM’s financial, administrative and HR policies are adhered to in all events and by all staff responsible.

• To proactively seek opportunities for funding through networking and oversee the writing of event proposals. 

• To participate in implementation of donor-funded events, ensuring delivery meets donor requirements and UKIM’s international policies, principles and development approach. 

• To ensure the reports for completed events are received from implementing partners on time and are analysed at the Head Office for evaluating each partner’s performance and to retain appropriate audit trail.

• To ensure event management and operation information is communicated quickly and efficiently to the Executive Director and Board of Trustees.

• To participate in and carry out annual staff appraisals as appropriate.

• To assist in diligently managing an agreed expenditure budget, taking careful measure to report any unexpected costs in good time as and when appropriate.

We are looking for a part time Intervention Worker to join our Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme Service – the Your Choice Project (voluntary perpetrator programme). 

Our Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme Service aligns with the Respect Standards – a framework for safe, effective, and survivor-focused work with perpetrators of domestic abuse in the UK.  Due to specific requirements of the role (in line with Respect Standard B6) we are looking to recruit a male candidate to this post. 

The Intervention Worker will be responsible for delivering sessions (group and one to one as may be required) with people who recognise that they are or have been using power and control to abuse their partner, ex-partner or family member and who want to address this behaviour.  The Intervention Worker will undertake such sessions in a way that prioritises the safety of those at risk from domestic violence and abuse.

We are looking for someone who has experience of providing group work and/or one to one counselling and an understanding of: 

• Domestic violence and abuse and its effects on survivors 

• Why some people use abusive behaviours in relationships 

• The range of models used in addressing abusive behaviour 

• Safeguarding procedures in relation to children and vulnerable adults.

You will work closely with our Brent Youth Development Coordinator. You will need to be able to work under pressure, acting as a consistent and stable point of contact for young people, ensuring that their safety and well-being are paramount.

Overview / purpose of the role

We’re looking for a Finance & Operations Assistant who is interested in developing a career in bookkeeping and/or accountancy within the nonprofit sector. No previous experience is required, just lots of passion and a motivation to pursue a long-term career in charity finance. The successful candidate will undertake training with the AAT (funded by us) towards a bookkeeping qualification alongside working as our Finance & Operations Assistant, you will be given some time to study during your working hours for this qualification.

The Finance & Operations Assistant is a central resource within CGP, working with colleagues in the Operations Team, and across the organisation to provide financial and operational support to all areas of our work. They will work closely with the Head of Operations & Evaluation to process invoices, expenses and conduct weekly payment runs, ensuring that all financial policies and procedures are carefully adhered to. They will also support colleagues to follow our financial policies and processes and act as the first point of contact for any questions on these procedures. Additionally, they will provide general administrative and operational support to colleagues as outlined in the below job description.

Responsibilities

Finance

● Managing our accounts payable inbox, monitoring all incoming invoices and following up with team members on any missing information if required

● Processing and coding invoices  in Xero accounting software ahead of weekly payment runs

● Checking that correct coding and approval procedures are followed for staff expenses in Soldo

● Conducting weekly payment runs via our online banking system

● Coordinating our monthly payroll processes (working with external providers)

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support the development of funding proposals

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support financial reporting on grants for external donors

● Supporting the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance with general financial administration, record keeping and tracking budgets

● Provide training on expense and invoicing processes to new members of staff and generally acting as the first point of contact for all staff on any finance procedure questions (full training will be provided)

● Supporting the Senior Management Team (SMT) and our Director of Finance to develop the annual organisational budget and report against it quarterly

Office Management & General Operational Support

Human Resources

● Support with recruitment processes within CGP, including assisting members of the team to schedule and coordinate job interviews, contact candidates and file incoming applications.

Person specification

The right candidate is less likely to be defined by their qualifications and prior experience, but will be someone who meets the below criteria, and is ready to learn. They will have an aptitude for maths and finance,  excellent attention to detail and a meticulous, methodical approach to work and troubleshooting.

● Has an interest in developing a career in the nonprofit finance sector and willing to commit to undertaking financial training

● Is broadly supportive of UK Aid

● Is an independent worker, self-starter who can take responsibility for projects through to completion

We are seeking a Payroll & Finance Administrator to assist the Executive Director: Finance and Resources with completing administration and payroll tasks to ensure a smooth running Finance Team.

You will administer aspects of donations and income, post donations received into our CRM system liaising with the Director of Fundraising, conduct Gift Aid claims, generate reports and utilise the CDS system to ensure all data is correctly entered and support given to all administrators.

You will administer the payroll and receipt system. Additionally, you will reconcile all costs, generate invoices and check that timesheets, holidays and absence are recorded correctly. This role requires you to work Monday to Friday but you must be willing to be flexible as and when required.

You must have a minimum of five A*-C GCSE passes, including Mathematics and English (or equivalent). Additionally, good IT skills, especially in Excel and administrative, recording and reporting skills are essential for this role.

This is a challenging but important and rewarding job because our team members know they are working hard to help transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable people. About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.

The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers. 

• An agile media mind, able to spot the key storyline that will maximise the possibility of media coverage and attract the attention of the media. 

• An evaluative mindset, supporting continual improvement by analysing coverage and associated data from media activity. 

• An ability to keep a calm head when faced with a reactive media situation in a manner that best protects the reputation of the charity 

• A thoughtful and empathetic outlook, able to engage with people affected by cancer with sensitivity and respect.
