We’re looking for a proactive Community Engagement Officer with an eye for detail and a can-do attitude who is willing to learn, grow and take ownership of this newly created and unique role.
You’ll be a warm and friendly communicator, both verbally and in writing, and be excited about raising support and awareness for SSR’s work with those affected by scoliosis.
As the Community Engagement Officer, working with the Community Engagement Manager you will manage relationships with regular donors and support individuals to fundraise effectively for SSR as well as thanking fundraisers and donors.
You will work with the Community Engagement Manager to support our wider fundraising efforts by providing administrative support.
A significant part of your role will be to respond to Helpline enquiries, either by phone or email. You will be the first point of contact. Training will be given on this.
You will also handle liaising and looking after our members and processing new membership applications.
You’ll work closely with the Community Engagement Manager on any events. The yearly ‘Scoliosis Awareness Day’ event, along with the Zorab Symposium which takes place every three years and any patient meetings that take place.
You will need to be able to travel to the office at least one day a week. Days worked can be agreed to suit the successful candidate.
You will need database experience. We use E Tapestry, but Raisers Edge or other charity database experience is relevant.
There is scope to take greater responsibility across all areas of the job description depending on your experience and personal development ambitions and there may be scope for increased hours as the role progresses.

Finance Officer

Job Purpose:-
We are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Finance this new role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health.
The Finance Officer will ensure that financial tasks and transactions are undertaken in an efficient, effective and timely manner and, importantly, that relevant financial information is provided to keep the Head of Finance updated and informed, supporting the Leadership Team to make the best decisions for the charity.
We are looking for a confident and experienced individual to join our supportive team. Previous charity finance knowledge is helpful but not essential, above all we want an individual to be tenacious, curious, diligent and show strong initiative.
Who are you?
You should be accomplished in Sage 50 Accounts and have considerable experience working in a finance function and in financial administration.
Some experience of working with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM database and an accountancy qualification or studying towards a professional qualification ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA) or AAT qualified. Experience of working in the Voluntary Sector, paid or unpaid would be great.
You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills (a natural ability to clearly communicate financial information to those with a non-finance background). You need to have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience in database and payroll systems.
It would be amazing for you to have high level of attention to detail and methodical working, be a self-starter and be able to use initiative.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. Key Purpose:
Engage with staff and volunteers at a local and national level across RABI as well as with key external stakeholders and partners to influence compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures. About the role
The West London Women’s Service is a specialist gender and trauma informed Assessment Centre for women with complex needs who are at risk of, or have experienced domestic abuse, violence against women and girls (VAWG); and have multiple disadvantages.
We have a great opportunity for someone interested in working as part of an innovate women’s only service in an Assessment and Reconnection role and becoming part of this exciting team achieving positive outcomes to support women in their recovery and move on journey.
In this role you will:
- Be part of a busy team environment working closely with women new to, or at risk of rough sleeping.
- Provide a personalised case management service to clients, turning assessment recommendations into practical action plans which fully involves the client.
- Build and maintain effective relationships to support clients throughout their recovery.
- Develop a knowledge of relevant legislation such as, welfare benefit and housing legislation.
- Work on a weekly rota including early, mid and late shifts (some evening and weekend work may be required).
For this role staff can claim an additional 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm and 8am Monday to Friday, and all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Experience managing complex and difficult situations in relations to people, have good interpersonal and listening skills, patience and resilience and the ability to adapt to new situations
- Great communication skills, with the ability to network and build effective relationships with a variety people.
- Understanding of the issues involved in providing support to people with complex support needs including mental and physical health needs, substance dependency and who may be on low (or no) income.

As a Support and Advocacy Officer you will join a skilled team who collectively provide a unique UK-wide support and advocacy service to over 1500 members.
You will primarily provide direct support and practical guidance to our Fabry members. This patient group is largely adult focused but there will be elements of family and child support. You will raise awareness within both the Fabry community and external agencies; and contribute to the development of resources, to promote self-advocacy within the patient group. A key objective of the role will be to build a sense of community and identity for our Fabry membership. You will also have the opportunity to facilitate and contribute to project work, including youth engagement, advisory boards, and support groups.
In addition to supporting the Fabry community there will also be a requirement to provide support to those affected by other conditions under our umbrella.
Key Responsibilities:

- Develop a good understanding of MPS and Fabry conditions
- Develop knowledge of legislation and best practice relevant to supporting people with life-long conditions
- Provide emotional support, information and guidance in areas such as diagnosis, disease awareness, health and social care and disability benefits

- Support and signpost people towards mental health and psychological support as required

Experience & skills
- Minimum of two years’ experience of working with individuals with disabilities within health and social care, education, or related field

- Excellent IT skills to maintain accurate case recording, produce clear reports, correspondences and presentations

- Experience of managing projects and service development is advantageous
Prior knowledge of Fabry Disease is not required as in-depth support and training will be provided. Regular supervision and a supportive work culture will help you to expand your knowledge and become an expert in the work you are undertaking.

Due to the rapid expansion of Day One Trauma Support over the last three years, the charity’s infrastructure has needed to respond quickly to meet its changing demands. The HR Officer and Executive Assistant role is a newly created position to reflect both the growing HR needs of the charity as the workforce expands, and the executive support required by the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure the efficient and effective running of the charity. Attraction of Volunteers
- Post opportunities and develop relationships with national volunteering partners, including but not limited to, Volunteering Wales, WCVA and Careers Wales.
