Digital Skills and Learning Manager

Power to Connect is looking for an experienced, community-focused Digital Skills and Learning Manager to lead and strengthen our digital skills and digital inclusion offer in Wandsworth.

Salary: £18,000 per year (£30,000 full-time equivalent)
Hours: 0.6 FTE (3 days per week)
Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year
Location: Hybrid, with home working, one day per week in a shared co-working space in Wandsworth, and additional attendance at service delivery sessions and networking events across the borough

Power to Connect is dedicated to bridging the digital divide in Wandsworth. Since launching in 2020, we have supported more than 7,000 individuals and families through device redistribution, digital skills training and ongoing support.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in tackling digital exclusion locally. You will shape and deliver accessible, high-quality learning opportunities that help residents build digital confidence, access services, improve employability and participate more fully in everyday life.

Working closely with the CEO, you will lead our digital skills and learning offer, line manage two Digital Tutors, support a team of volunteer Digital Champions, and help strengthen partnerships and progression opportunities across the borough. You will also help ensure learners can build confidence in using emerging technologies, including AI, safely and practically in everyday life and work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development and delivery of digital skills and digital inclusion programmes
• Develop engaging, accessible learning materials and progression pathways
• Deliver around four hours of teaching each week
• Support learner engagement and inclusive community outreach
• Build partnerships with local organisations, employers and other stakeholders
• Line manage two Digital Tutors and support volunteer Digital Champions
• Monitor outcomes, evaluate impact and use learning to improve services

We're looking for someone with

• Experience of designing and delivering digital skills, digital inclusion or community learning programmes for adults
• A strong understanding of digital exclusion and the barriers faced by underserved communities
• Experience of programme coordination, partnership working and learner engagement
• Experience of supporting or line managing staff, tutors, volunteers or community champions
• Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills
• Confidence using digital tools and awareness of emerging technologies, including AI
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and to the power of learning to improve lives

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation is a UK-wide charity that exists to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation. We’re here for everyone who needs us. We protect children by working with people who pose a risk and diverting them from causing harm. We support individuals and families who have been affected by abuse. And we help professionals who work with families to create safer environments for children through delivering risk assessments, interventions, training and consultancy.

About the role and you

This is a strategic and hands-on role in our fast-paced, collaborative communications and advocacy team. You’ll lead the charity’s digital presence, overseeing our websites, paid media, and digital projects, to ensure they drive reach, engagement, and measurable impact.

You’ll manage relationships with external developers and agencies, lead on the digital strategy and performance, and support colleagues across the organisation to improve our digital presence.

This role is central to delivering our mission to prevent child sexual abuse.

You’ll be energetic, proactive and innovative, with a strong track record in managing websites and be confident in gathering and using data and analytics to evaluate and improve performance.

You’ll also be comfortable working across multiple projects and with a range of stakeholders - from internal teams to external agencies.

Salary: £31,565 - £32,630 per annum if based in Manchester, Nottingham, Newcastle or Bristol. £34,215 - £35,280 if based in London. All roles also receive a £312 yearly tax-free work-from-home allowance.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is an exciting time to join upReach as we begin a new phase of our digital transformation. We are investing in the systems, tools and ways of working that will help us support more students, improve the experience of the upReach team, and deliver our mission more effectively.

We are looking for a thoughtful, organised and motivated Junior Digital Transformation Manager to join the Product Team and play an important role in turning this ambition into practical, lasting change.

Technology plays a central role in how we support students, collaborate with partners and operate as an organisation. Working with the Director of Product, colleagues in the Product Team and teams across upReach, you will help deliver our digital transformation strategy. 

You will coordinate projects from initial discovery and planning through to implementation, training and continuous improvement. You will work closely with internal users, technology suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure digital changes are practical, inclusive, well-managed and aligned with organisational needs.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to significant organisation-wide projects at an early stage, helping to shape how upReach uses technology in the years ahead.

You do not need to have previously worked in a digital transformation role. You may have developed relevant experience through project coordination, operations, process improvement, technology implementation, product management or another role involving organisational change.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving how things work and helping people use technology confidently.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will support the delivery of upReach’s digital transformation strategy by helping teams adopt better tools, systems and ways of working, including the responsible use of AI.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the rollout and adoption of new digital tools, systems and AI-enabled solutions.

• Supporting digital transformation projects from planning through to implementation and review.

• Working with teams across upReach to understand their workflows, challenges and technology needs.

• Identifying opportunities to use AI and automation to improve efficiency, quality and user experience.

• Gathering and summarising feedback from users during testing, rollout and post-launch.

• Creating clear guidance, process documentation and training materials.

• Supporting colleagues to use new tools and AI responsibly, confidently and consistently.

• Identifying opportunities to improve, simplify or connect systems and processes.

• Monitoring how well new tools are working and recommending improvements.

• Supporting relationships with external suppliers and technology partners.

You will take ownership of agreed areas of work, while receiving support from the Director of Product and other experienced colleagues.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Process mapping, service design or business analysis.

• Gathering user feedback or conducting user research.

• Testing digital systems or features.

• Understanding data protection, information security, accessibility or responsible technology considerations.

COMPETENCIES

Within upReach, the Junior Digital Transformation Manager is an equivalent level to a Junior Manager in other teams. This level involves you demonstrating more leadership capabilities. This includes having ownership of your responsibility area, and demonstrating an ability to informally lead and have positive influence on the wider team. We will be looking for you to demonstrate that you can plan ahead, proactively anticipate upcoming projects or challenges, and problem solve more independently.

upReach have created a Behaviours and Competency Framework to ensure the team have full visibility on the key capabilities required for effective performance, how these connect to our organisational values, and the level required for each band within the organisation.

Where you’ll be based

The base location for this position is negotiable, with remote working / home working welcomed. If you prefer working in an office environment, you can work from one of our Field Studies Centres across the UK. Hybrid working options can also be considered.

This role will include occasional travel to our Field Studies Council locations and other venues throughout the UK and will involve occasional overnight stays.
