The Role

As a Debt Caseworker, you will work directly with clients experiencing debt and financial hardship. You will provide high-quality advice and casework, helping clients understand their options and take positive steps towards resolving their financial difficulties.

You will support clients with compassion and professionalism, breaking down complex information into practical, achievable solutions. This includes assessing financial circumstances, preparing realistic budgets, identifying priority debts, negotiating with creditors, and empowering clients to make informed decisions about their finances.

DBS Check Required

This role delivers one to one case work including ongoing support to resolve both immediate and crisis situations, in the main relating to welfare benefits, referring to appropriate support agencies and other ICCM services promoting a multiagency approach. The aim of the service is to empower people through access to appropriate support services and improve quality of life, health and wellbeing.

This is a fixed term role to cover for Maternity Leave (9 Months)

· Delivering client focused, culturally appropriate support services for the benefit of members of the Irish community in Manchester on an appointment office basis, drop in service, and on outreach for those with mobility issues facilitating access to mainstream health, housing, education and employment services.

• To provide support to members of the Irish community who are vulnerable through age, poor physical or mental health, homelessness, risk of homelessness, drug/alcohol use, offending, hate crime, social and cultural isolation etc.
• To complete an initial assessment of Service Users’ needs, presenting issues and risks, making onward referrals to statutory and other voluntary support agencies as appropriate for people to access specialist support
• An understanding of how to deal with people who have experienced trauma.
• Inputting all client based work onto the CMS; maintaining accurate and up to date case files and reporting.
• To facilitate the successful running of ICCM’s health and well being activities as required.
• To promote the wider work of ICCM, facilitating pathways to support where needed.

We are looking for 2 Advice Workers to join the team at the Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space (CHWS).

Croydon Health & Wellbeing Space (CHWS) is an exciting and dynamic service, run in partnership with Mind in Croydon and Croydon BME Forum and commissioned by South London and Maudsley Mental Health Service (SLaM). The CHWS opened in 2022 with the aim of providing advice, information, and specialist support to Croydon residents with mental health concerns, who drop-in, or have been referred to the via the local Integrated Care Network Plus multi-disciplinary clinical and community mental health support teams.

The Advice Workers will be part of a friendly team, including crisis workers and clinical mental health professionals and function as the first point of access for visitors to the CHWS. Following an initial conversation to ascertain the clients’ needs, the Advice Workers will provide information and advice, as well as signposting and referrals to specialist services, such as the Mental Health Personal Independence Co-ordinators, Social Prescribers and Community Link Workers, in addition to the wider voluntary and statutory services in the borough. The role will be fast paced and vary each day offering a fantastic opportunity for the postholder to develop their knowledge and skills and make a difference to the users of this service.

We have an opportunity for a dedicated Case Officer to join our Midlands casework team to manage and provide direct support, advice, and guidance to RBL beneficiaries across South East Midlands on a wide range of issues including health, social care, employment, benefits, statutory support, and housing.

The role is primarily homebased and will have regular travel around the South East Midlands area (Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire) for meetings and visiting beneficiaries, therefore you will need to live in a location that allows reasonable travel around this area. There will also be occasional travel nationally to attend training or meetings.

To supervise, coach and develop trainee debt advisers, ensuring they achieve the knowledge, skills and competence required to deliver high-quality debt advice in line with MaPS quality standards and organisational policies. 1. Supervise and develop Trainee Debt Advisers

Provide day-to-day line management, mentoring, coaching, technical supervision and pastoral support to Trainee Debt Advisers, enabling them to develop the competence, confidence and professional standards required to achieve accreditation and deliver high-quality debt advice. 3. Coordinate placements and partner engagement

4. Monitor performance and manage programme delivery

Monitor trainee performance, progression and wellbeing, proactively identifying and managing risks to learning, quality or programme delivery. 5. Contribute to training and continuous improvement
Support the design, development, coordination and delivery of induction, policy, technical training, skills development and continuing professional development (CPD) activities across the Debt Free Advice partnership. We are looking for an empathetic, dedicated Immigration Adviser and Community Outreach Assistant to improve respect for migrants’ human rights in Northern Ireland. In this role, you will provide immigration advice to migrants facing discrimination, harassment or other harms in Northern Ireland. You will also help RSI reach out to and learn from communities and local organisations. 

RSI has an established immigration advice service for migrants in Northern Ireland who are most in need of urgent, free advice and casework.

You must either: 

• Already be qualified as an immigration adviser at Level 1 or higher via the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA), OR 

• Have experience with advice services or casework, and be willing to study for and sit the IAA Level 1 exam. (RSI will provide an appropriate amount of paid study time.) 

If you are not IAA-qualified but have knowledge of UK immigration law, such as through coursework, please let us know. Qualified solicitors based in Northern Ireland are also welcome to apply.

Alongside advice and casework, this role includes outreach to a range of migrant communities in Northern Ireland, to understand their needs, support activism and inform people about advice services that are available. 

The role: 

• 2 days per week

Requirements: 

You must have: 

• Current IAA authorisation, OR a willingness to work towards and take the IAA accreditation exams. 

• At least one year of experience in advice services or casework, OR knowledge of UK immigration law. 

• A demonstrable ability to work independently in a professional environment.

• A demonstrable ability to communicate complex information in plain English, both verbally and in writing.

• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.

• Comfort and confidence engaging in outreach with communities and local civil society organisations in Northern Ireland.

RCJ Advice is an exceptional Citizens Advice and Law Centre delivering national legal advice services, both frontline and second tier, to people who are unable to afford legal representation and advice. We are based within the Royal Courts of Justice, the Central London Family Court and community sites across London, where we deliver local Citizens Advice services.

This post is a new role within RCJ Advice and forms part of the Improving Access to Justice for Domestic Abuse Survivors project. The three-year project aims to improve access to legal advice and support for domestic abuse survivors living in areas where legal aid services are limited.

The project will strengthen referral pathways, increase awareness of legal remedies and build sustainable links between domestic abuse organisations, frontline professionals and legal providers to ensure survivors can access appropriate legal support.

During the first year, the postholder will likely focus on developing the project in Suffolk. This will include mapping existing services, building relationships with domestic abuse organisations and frontline professionals, developing referral pathways and strengthening links with local legal providers.

In years two and three, the postholder will move the focus of the project to new legal aid deserts in England (we have a similar role in Wales) identified during the course of the project, developing new local networks, referral pathways and partnerships to improve access to legal advice and support for domestic abuse survivors in those areas.

Alongside this project development work, the postholder will provide specialist family law advice and support to domestic abuse survivors, including advice on protective remedies such as Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders and other family law matters including Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs). This will include providing advice through appointments, telephone and email advice, and supporting survivors with CourtNav applications.

The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with experience of family law and domestic abuse work. They will have strong legal skills, experience of developing partnerships or services, and the ability to build trusted relationships with survivors, professionals and community organisations.

The postholder will work closely with colleagues across RCJ Advice, including the FLOWS team and Family team, sharing learning and contributing to wider organisational work supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

The role will require flexibility to travel across England, including occasional overnight stays, to support delivery of the service, partnership development and engagement activities.
