Location: Global Lumos role based in the UK
Location type: Hybrid
Reporting to: Chief Programmes and Advocacy Officer
Annual salary: £90,000 – £100,000 GBP
Closing date: Monday, 12th October, 9:00 am CET
Background
Lumos Foundation works to realise every child’s right to a family by transforming care systems around the world. Our vision is a world in which all children grow up in safe and loving families within supported communities.
Founded in 2005 by author J.K. Rowling, Lumos partners with governments, civil society and young people with lived experience to transform care systems globally and advocate for family-based solutions that help children thrive. We ensure that families receive the support they need to stay together or reunite, and that children grow up in family-based settings such as foster or kinship care, not institutions.
Despite clear evidence of the harms of institutionalisation, more than five million children worldwide continue to live in institutions. And a much larger number of children are at risk of family breakdown and separation – those living in poverty, experiencing domestic violence and abuse, and living in countries affected by conflict.
We are ambitious for children’s safety. In the next ten years, Lumos will enable 500K children in care to return to family-based care, while preventing ten million more children from experiencing family breakdown and separation – so that they can thrive in their own families. Working with local, national, and global partners, Lumos supports government-led transformation of childcare systems across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America- driving systemic and sustainable change.
Lumos’ ambition for children is significant and will require the organisation and its partners to work in new ways – with a pace, drive and urgency that this moment demands – and that children everywhere deserve.
Lumos’ success will continue to be based not just on what we do, but on how we do it – our values. We embrace collaboration. We strive for excellence. We show respect. We always care. And we are passionate. We are Lumos.

About us
For nearly 30 years Sutton Mental Health Foundation has been a refuge for people in Sutton, Surrey, whose mental health has had an impact on their lives. Over this time, the Foundation has helped thousands of people navigate their way through their mental health challenges and in 2025 we saw an 18% increase in demand for our services.
From our unique and pioneering centre in the London Borough of Sutton, we provide a wide array of services aimed at promoting mental wellbeing, resilience and recovery from mental distress and ultimately, keeping people safe. Sutton Mental Health Foundation provides a place where people can feel safe and supported in tackling their mental health challenges and we provide these services 365 days a year.
Our crucial work
The Foundation is a hidden gem of innovation, with a pioneering ‘Intentional Peer Support’ approach at its heart, which trains former and current service users to provide support to individuals facing similar mental health challenges to those they have faced themselves. The first contact from local people experiencing severe anxiety or distress often comes through telephone calls or through our Crisis Café, which operates every evening in person from 6.30pm to 11.00 pm, 365 days a year, and on the phone or on- line at other times. This is where people can receive support and learn about the range of support options the Foundation provides.
Our counselling service can help local people tackle a wide range of issues affecting their mental health.
Our Belmont Connect service is a place to socialise, meet new people and receive support in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can also join one of our classes or drop-in sessions. These may be art-based, music-themed, or centred around activities such as gardening. We aim to offer a range of weekly activities that cater to different interests and encourage social connection and wellbeing. In the winter our In Your Corner Sunday service offers lunches from midday onwards, and we have year round specialist support sessions such as the Sutton Hearing Voices Group, which help individuals explore different ways to deal with hearing voices.
We have been very successful in securing funding for our work from the local authority and from our local NHS Trust, but we have now reached a point where we want to raise new funds to innovate and expand our services, hence creating this new role of Community Fundraising Manager.

About the role
Do you want to help lift some of the most vulnerable in our communities out of poverty? Do you want work with a small, compassionate, dynamic charity, and help change lives? If so, we would love to talk to you.
This is a crucial role to support our Advice Services team. They are the gatekeepers of our work, being the first point of contact for our clients, most of whom will be struggling and may be both emotionally and physically vulnerable. You may be the first person many of our clients will have spoken to about their issues and being able to put them at ease in a professional, yet warm and friendly manner is incredibly important. You will get to make the first impression of Crosslight and help build trust and engagement from the very start.
The role is varied but will involve handling new client enquiries in person and on the phone, understanding their situations, assessing their needs, booking and coordinating appointments, providing information, and acting as an advocate for the work we do.
About Crosslight
Crosslight works to lift people out of poverty and help them build a better future. We long for our communities to flourish and for no one to be left behind, and our vision for our staff and volunteers is more than just a job, it is an opportunity to make a difference.
Crosslight was born out of the ministry of the local church and retains a strong Christian ethos which informs and underpins the values by which we operate. Our calling is to work in partnership with local churches and community organisations to serve anyone in need, irrespective of their race, gender, religion, sexuality or any other characteristics. Together with our partners, we strive to effect lasting change and increase the capacity of our clients to realise their full potential.
We are of our community and for our community – we are ‘all together’, and we would love for you to join us.
“Working for Crosslight has been life changing for me. I love the people that I work with and the supportive environment that has been created – everyone really looks out for each other. Crosslight really cares about their clients and treats everyone as an individual. It is hugely rewarding.” Sarah, staff member

Job summary including context
Young Women’s Trust champions young women on low or no pay. We’re here to create a more equal world of work and raise young women’s incomes. We tackle sexism and misogyny, with and for anyone who has experienced this.
We offer young women free coaching, feedback on job applications and information to help them get where they want to be. We bring together a thousands-strong network to support each other, build their self-belief, and have their voices heard. We work with young women and anyone who experiences misogyny and sexism to campaign for equality in the workplace. And our research provides insight into what young women’s lives are really like, fuelling our campaigns for change.
These are not easy times to be a young woman. The rights and freedoms previous generations fought for can feel up for grabs – sexism is growing louder, online abuse is on the rise, and too many young women are still held back by low pay, insecure work and unequal caring responsibilities. At Young Women's Trust, we believe it doesn't have to be this way, and we're growing our fundraising ambition to match the scale of the challenge.
You will lead a newly united fundraising programme that has brought together corporate partnerships, major donors, and trusts & foundations - an area that already contributes over 80% of our fundraised income. You'll strengthen existing relationships and secure new partnerships to support our mission: creating a more equal world of work and increasing young women's incomes.
EDI statement and sense of flexible working and workplace culture
Young Women’s Trust strives to be an inclusive and representative organisation. We are committed to appointing individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, lived experiences and cultures. We particularly encourage applications from racially minoritised candidates. We use positive action under section 159 of the Equality Act in relation to race. This means that if we have two candidates of equal merit in our process, we will seek to take forward the racially minoritised candidate in order to diversify our staff team.
You’ll be joining a team that will embrace your ideas and support and encourage you to bring your whole self to work.
We can make reasonable adjustments throughout the application process and on the job. If you have particular accessibility needs, please get in touch and let us know any requirements you may have.
Young Women’s Trust is a Living Wage employer and we commit to Show the Salary for every job we advertise. Non-graduates are welcome and we offer a wide range of flexible working options including job share, part-time and compressed hours, different start and finish times and working from home.
