At Friends of PICU, we’re dedicated to supporting the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton, funding lifesaving equipment, providing family support, and enhancing care for critically ill and injured children. We’re looking for a Community Fundraising Lead to grow our community and events fundraising activities, inspire supporters, and make a lasting impact for families when they need it most.

The Role

As our Community Fundraising Lead, you’ll be the driving force behind our community and event fundraising. You’ll build relationships with existing and new supporters, community groups, and corporate partners developing opportunities to raise income and awareness for Friends of PICU.

Working closely with our Operations Manager, you’ll deliver an annual calendar of exciting fundraising events, from local community challenges to large-scale campaigns, ensuring each activity connects people to our mission and delivers excellent supporter experiences.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) with hybrid working – based partly at our charity office at University Hospital Southampton and partly from home. Some evening and weekend work, plus travel across Hampshire and neighbouring counties, will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

Context

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in a pioneering programme that could reshape how kinship families are supported across England.

Kinship is undertaking a pilot Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) of Kinship Connected, a Kinship Navigator programme designed to provide intensive, specialist support to kinship carers and help them navigate complex systems.

This is a multi-partner programme involving funders, independent evaluators, participating local authorities, internal delivery teams and kinship carers with lived experience.

Kinship Navigators are at the heart of delivery. You will work directly with kinship carers in the community and in their homes, providing intensive 1-to-1 support and facilitating local support groups, while working closely with local authority partners and other services.

Because the programme forms part of a pilot RCT, maintaining high-quality case records and accurate data collection is critical. Your work will contribute directly to the evidence base about what works for kinship families.

Each Navigator will support around 40 kinship carers over the delivery year, holding a caseload of approximately 20 families at any one time.

You will be part of a wider delivery team including the Programmes Manager, Mobilisation and Delivery Project Manager, research colleagues and other Kinship teams, working together to ensure the programme is delivered ethically, consistently and to a high standard

About the role:

The Kinship Navigator provides intensive, time-limited support to kinship carers through the Kinship Connected programme, a structured six-month intervention designed to help kinship families stabilise placements and access the support they need.

Working directly with kinship carers, you will build trusting relationships while completing structured assessments, goal setting and reviews to help families strengthen support networks and navigate services such as children’s social care, education, health and community support.

This is a community-facing role, working directly with kinship carers in homes, community spaces and through co-location with local authority teams and partner organisations.

The role requires a combination of high-quality relational practice and disciplined case recording. As part of the pilot RCT, accurate documentation of activity, progress and outcomes is essential to ensure the programme can be evaluated and improved.

You will work closely with the Programmes Manager, delivery team, researchers and local authority partners to ensure the programme is delivered consistently, ethically and to a high standard, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in supporting kinship families from all backgrounds.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing emotional and practical support to kinship carers.
• Advocating for kinship carers in meetings with professionals where appropriate.

• Establishing and facilitating a monthly support group for kinship carers in your area.

• Mapping local services and building relationships with organisations that can provide specialist support, training or activities for kinship families.

• Liaising with schools, local authorities and other professionals to coordinate support.

• Supporting kinship carers with challenges relating to the child(ren) in their kinship care.

The Community Fundraising Manager is responsible for leading and growing the hospice’s community income portfolio, driving sustainable voluntary income through grassroots engagement, volunteer mobilisation and campaign development.

As a Nightstop Coordinator, you’ll be the first point of contact for young people facing homelessness—assessing needs, coordinating safe emergency placements, and guiding them toward longer‑term support. About the role:

You will provide trauma informed support to service users impacted by terrorism. Service users are at the heart of the work we do; working with the family, you will undertake a comprehensive needs assessment to agree a bespoke Support Plan that will include exploring the needs of children and young people within the family.

The role 

Art Explora UK is a small but entrepreneurial arts charity looking for an experienced fundraiser to join our dynamic team and help us implement a new fundraising strategy, and achieve our ambitious and exciting targets at a time of growth and opportunity.

Specific Responsibilities

• Deliver against a 6-figure fundraising target, taking responsibility for a cohort of prospects, with a focus on trusts, foundations, public sector and corporate partners.

• Write compelling proposals/applications and reports for trusts and foundations, to engage supporters and demonstrate the impact of our work.

The role will own the legacy value proposition, marketing strategy and support journey from initial engagement through to pledge stewardship. The post holder will champion a culture of legacy giving across the organisation and position leaving a gift in a Will as a meaningful and natural way to support St Giles Hospice.

In partnership with the Fundraising Administration team, the Legacy Manager will ensure legacy gifts are managed professionally and compliantly, with strong forecasting, reporting and internal oversight.

Knowledge and experience

Essential

·Experience of working within the third sector or a values led organisation

·Demonstrable experience of legacy fundraising or transferable experience within a strategic income stream with clear growth accountability

·Proven experience of delivering income growth against agreed targets and KPIs

·Experience of developing and implementing strategic plans

·Experience of managing budgets, financial planning and reporting with commentary on variances

·Experience of working collaboratively with marketing and data teams to develop insight led campaigns

·Track record of successfully managing and developing relationships with individual supporters, customers or professional partners

·Experience of analysing and interpreting data to inform decision making and maximise return on investment

·Knowledge of the regulatory environment for fundraising from individuals including data protection, Gift Aid and Fundraising Codes of Practice and regulation

·Experience of project management including budget setting and performance monitoring

Desirable

·Specific experience in legacy fundraising within a charity setting

·Experience of developing and delivering a legacy marketing strategy

·Experience of working with professional advisers such as solicitors or will writers

·Experience of contributing to senior leadership or board level reporting

·Experience using Donorflex or a similar CRM database
