Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to everyone who is in need of support.

We are looking for two dedicated and passionate Advice and Information Worker to join our team based in Hatfield! You will be the first point of contact for anyone needing to access the ‘hyh hub’ and will ensure that all referrals are triaged to identify the most effective pathway for support. The worker will deliver accurate advice and information to young people, parents and professionals, and work undertaken in a coordinated timely manner. You will carry out appropriate assessments, with other agencies where needed, to assess the needs of the family to prevent family breakdown and homelessness.

Role Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied, short term case load with conflicting deadlines
- To offer realistic advice and options to young people, family members and professionals to prevent family breakdown and homelessness, identifying any other needs within the process.
- To carry out service user assessments under the JHP and liaise with statutory agencies, non-statutory agencies and family members to assist with a planned move on/secure accommodation for
16/17 year olds as required.
- Develop and maintain smooth, accurate pathways on the database for gathering and maintaining all relevant service user and statistical information
- To chair and coordinate family meetings, housing support meetings and liaison meetings with other agencies as required
- To liaise and refer into Crashpad as required and work within the set timescales
- Alongside team members and external partners, co-ordinate and implement focused action plans, working with families for a maximum of 6 weeks
- Working in strengths based way, support 16/17 year olds to advocate for themselves when appropriate and necessary
- Carry out the necessary follow-up work and write ups of service users files
- Encourage and promote a planned approach to solving conflict alongside the ‘hyh hub’ and explore the mediation / family link worker processes to young people and their families, in line with the ‘single pathway’ model.

As a successful candidate you will have...
- A full driving license and use of own car or motorbike for business purposes (Compulsory)
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the problems facing homeless young people
- Ability to engage and motivate young people, strong interpersonal skills including the ability to be appropriately assertive
- General administrative skills (filling, record keeping and computer literacy)
- Ability to work effectively with a full and varied workload with conflicting deadlines
- Excellent understanding of confidentially with strict professional boundaries and personal integrity

Prospectus is delighted to be working with the charity in recruiting a permanent Finance Officer to join its established team based in Central London. 
 
The role: 
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Finance Officer will ensure the provision of consistent, robust financial support to the charity and will be responsible for processing financial records in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with regulations, implementing efficient financial processes whilst working collaboratively across the team.
 
In addition, the Finance Officer will be responsible for monitoring and processing income and expenditure, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, overseeing cashflow forecasting, completing the monthly reconciliations and preparation of financial reports, journals and helping with the VAT preparatory work. The post holder will also be required to support the annual budgeting process, year-end audit and preparation of statutory accounts for approval by the Trustee.
 
The person:
The charity is looking for someone with previous finance experience preferrable but not limited to the charity sector, and strong collaborative and relational skills to work with different colleagues across the organisation. You will be a person who can take initiative, solve problems and get things done timely, be confident working with different internal stakeholders and external professional advisors and capable of considering different requirements and priorities in a knowledgeable way.
 
This person will have excellent attention to detail and will be highly organised and a strong communicator across a wide range of audiences. Educated to Degree level – fully or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or seeking to do a qualification, this person will have excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication and will be up to date on all MS Office packages. Preferable with an experience working on SAGE, or any similar financial software.

The Strategy and Policy Team is part of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Corporate Services Directorate. The successful candidate will play a key role within the team, which incorporates policy and strategy support across Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) functions. The team works on a remote basis with the occasional requirement to attend meetings or events in London or other locations around the UK on a semi-regular basis.

The Strategy and Policy Team work closely with subject matter experts, insight analysts, and communications colleagues across NFCC to support and produce policy advice, positions, and content. Through the timely and clear production of evidence-based advice, our primary objective is to support national policy development, with the aim of improving the safety of the communities we serve.

What you will be doing:

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Policy Manager and be responsible for leading the development of policy advice, positions, and responses to Government across a range of topics. These could include aspects of operational preparedness and response, fire reform, climate change, emerging technologies, the NFCC strategy, and cultural improvement.

The post holder will be part of a team producing policy products for UK FRSs across all areas of FRS activities. Responsibilities will include engagement with UK FRSs to ensure that policies and national positions under development enjoy the support of our members and appropriately reflect their views.

In addition to working with other members of the Strategy and Policy Team, you will also work with technical, communications, data, and governance colleagues from other NFCC teams.

The post holder may also be involved with the preparation of research reports, impact assessments, cost benefit analysis of policy options, equality impact assessments, and presentation of data where relevant.

Fundraising & Volunteer Database Manager

We're working with a well-respected children's charity to recruit an experienced Fundraising & Volunteer Database Manager to join their fundraising team on an ongoing temporary basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a data-driven fundraising professional who enjoys improving systems, strengthening supporter journeys and working closely across fundraising, finance and volunteering teams to ensure data is accurate, compliant and genuinely useful.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Supporter Engagement, you'll take the lead on the charity's fundraising CRM (Raiser's Edge NXT), overseeing data integrity, integrations, reporting and process improvements. You'll play a key role in ensuring supporters and volunteers receive the right communications at the right time, while also supporting finance processes including Gift Aid and month-end reconciliation.

You'll work collaboratively across Fundraising, Finance, Volunteer Management and Data Insight, acting as the go-to person for database expertise and continuous improvement.

• Ensuring high standards of data quality, GDPR compliance and robust data controls

This is a pivotal role within a respected, purpose-led organisation operating at scale. You will be responsible for the accurate recording of accounting entries, the production of subsidiary and group accounts, and the oversight of VAT, corporation tax, and statutory reporting.

Working closely with senior finance colleagues, you will provide technical accounting expertise, support audits and regulatory submissions, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of financial systems, policies and processes. The role also includes line management responsibility and the opportunity to influence strong financial governance across the organisation.

The role

• Production of subsidiary statutory accounts and support for consolidated group accounts
• Ownership of VAT and corporation tax returns, liaising with external advisors
• Provision of technical accounting guidance on standards and best practice
• Oversight of balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany balances, payroll, pensions and fixed assets
• Administration of investment portfolios, fund accounting and grant-related financial processes
• Maintenance and development of financial systems, controls, policies and documentation
• Support for audits, regulatory reporting and compliance activity
• Cashflow monitoring, reporting and financial control oversight
• Line management and development of a junior finance team member
• Deputising for senior finance leadership when required

About you

You will be a confident, proactive finance professional who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative, service-focused approach. You will bring:

• Experience in financial reporting and consolidation within a group environment
• A professional accounting qualification (ACA or ACCA)
• Strong understanding of VAT, statutory reporting and financial controls
• Experience supporting or managing staff in a hybrid or multi-site environment
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
• Strong Excel capability and confidence, supporting others to improve financial skills

BACKGROUND

Church of England Birmingham (CofEB) is on a journey of growing churches at the heart of every community. Through this we are seeing growth in many exciting ways. Financially we are at a challenging point. We have had an operational deficit for a number of years and this cannot continue. The National Church has agreed to partner with us around this through their Diocesan Investment Programme enabling us to have the time, and resource, to tackle this head on. One key aspect of this is for us to increase our Common Fund returns (the giving from our parishes that supports the costs of our life together). We are taking a radical new approach to our finances which includes intentional reallocation of income to support the costs in our most economically deprived parishes and deeper relationships with each parish around finance through conversation rather than correspondence. Over the next five years we are hoping to be able to move to a financially sustainable platform which will enable us to better serve our communities in the future.

We have recently recruited a new Head of Generosity (who is also Bishops Advisor for Common Fund) to lead on this work and we are now looking to recruit the team to work with them. The focus of the team is to develop long term relationships with all of our parishes leading to:

• Greater support for our parishes.
• Increased generosity by, and within, our parishes.
• Increased Common Fund.

The current plan is to recruit two Giving & Generosity Advisor roles and one Giving & Generosity Support Officer role. Together this team will work with all of our parishes to roll out our financial approach, through in person meetings, and the support that is on offer as part of this. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary focus of this role is to support the wider team in delivering this project. We have 146 parishes and the Head of Generosity will manage the team so that all parishes can be engaged as quickly as possible. It is the Head of Generosity and two Giving & Generosity Advisors who will be carrying out the in-person meetings with each parish. Those roles will work closely with a range of people, and teams, across Church of England Birmingham so that this work is integrated within our wider strategy and parishes are not confused by multiple disjointed initiatives. This will mean working with Archdeacons and Area Deans, Mission Support Team, Ministry Team, Property Team, Finance Team, Community Regeneration Team and Communications Team as well as others.

This role will manage the processes that enable the team to deliver and flourish.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Being the point of contact for parishes and other DBF teams as they will be the member of the team who are predominantly office based. 

• Develop strong relationships with parishes, and other key stakeholders, to enable the establishment of meetings, support around Generosity etc.
• Be the first point of contact for parishes when they have questions around Giving and Generosity.
• Manage activities and processes that enable the project to function e.g. a scheme to loan out contact giving devices.
• Support in the creation of resources and communication pieces.
• Keep the teams external, and internal, communication streams up to date (including website, and praying together). Ensuring that the team has a presence in all key CofEB channels.
• Encourage and assist parishes in the implementation of the Parish Giving Scheme, introduction of contactless giving mechanisms and related diocesan resources.
• Support the scheduling and support for training. This will be for clergy, treasurers and others.

• Manage the collation of data and information so progress of the team is clear and evidenced.
• Undertake resource projects.
• Support the Head of Generosity to respond to new and emerging needs and opportunities.
• Ensure a regular flow of team meetings and communication between the team.

• Coordinate team wellbeing activities in line with agreed pattern and linked to the wider CofEB rhythms.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Some understanding of church governance structures and financial operations and requirements.
• Knowledge of generosity principles and Christian financial stewardship.
• Experience of working in a sensitive environment and handling confidential matters with tact and diplomacy.
• Experience of supporting a team and running the processes required to do this.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

• Attention to detail and understand the importance of accuracy 
• Good experience in using Microsoft Office, experience of using software for programme / project management would be an advantage
• Excellent planning & organisational skills
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to handle queries from a wide range of people at different levels using a variety of mediums 
• Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• The ability to work independently as well as contributing to the success of the team 
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt as priorities change within the overall programme
• Experience of a change programme and/or project management would be an advantage 
• An understanding of and sympathy with our Christian ethos and values

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The post-holder will be employed by the Diocesan Board of Finance for a fixed term, ending on 2nd November 2030, subject to funding.

Salary and Pension: Salary of £28,000 plus membership of the Church Worker’s Pension Scheme with 12% employer contribution. We are open to discussion especially if you are ordained and are moving out of parish ministry. 

Hours: Full-time 35 hours (5 days) per week. Weekend and evening work may be required, for which the equivalent time may be taken back from standard working hours. We are happy to consider requests for flexible working and candidates seeking part-time hours. Holidays: 5 weeks per year plus Bank Holidays and 3 Discretionary Days between Christmas and New Year

If you care about helping people live well with dementia and making sure carers feel informed, listened to and supported, this could be a role where you genuinely see the impact of your work. Our Dementia Adviser’s have the rewarding job of providing support and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.  Our person-centred service is unique to each person we support as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs. We offer support to clients in a variety of ways, predominantly by delivering Carers Information and Support Programmes, Peer Support and Activity Groups in communities throughout the county, and on occasion covering other activities
and provide dementia support, holding a small caseload if required. The successful candidate will join the team with one other Dementia Adviser and you will lead on all group activities being delivered as part of the Age Well contract.
What you’ll focus on:

- Making sure all groups are high quality and meet the standards and goals set out in our Service Specifications.
- Manage our Group Support Volunteers who will support you in the delivery of groups.
- You will recruit and train new volunteers to ensure all groups are properly advertised and staffed
- You will work from home and in the community, running groups, visiting people at home, promoting our service at events, and occasionally giving talks about dementia.
- Identifying people’s needs and the services they may wish to access, give advice about how to live well with dementia and support the improvement of their sense of wellbeing
- Collate statistics and evidenced based outcomes to meet our targets including case studies and evaluation
- Engaging with a variety of professionals from health, social care, voluntary and community sector.
- Build relationships to ensure referrals into our service, and you have knowledge of services and support available for people with dementia and carers.

About you

- Ability and interest in supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them take more control of their lives
- Good communication skills, adapting to a wide range of audiences and delivering presentations 
- Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers

ROLE DUTIES

• Act as the primary governance support for the COO, ensuring all governance activities align with strategic priorities.
• Lead and manage the administration of the Finance Executive, Audit & Risk Committee, and Property Committee
• Support the COO, Diocesan Secretary and Head of Service Delivery in managing risk processes, including risk registers and compliance reporting.
• Prepare governance and Committee reports and relevant dashboards for the COO, CEO and senior leadership, including the Management Team and Bishops Leadership Team.
• Acting as a liaison between governance bodies and internal/external stakeholders.

CRITERIA

• Degree or equivalent level of relevant experience in governance, business administration, or a related field.
