Job description

The Advice & Support Development Coordinator will be part of a dedicated team, York SU Advice & Support, that provides confidential, independent guidance and support to University of York students on academic and wellbeing issues, and University procedures and policies.

The role will predominantly focus on the day-to-day provision of 1-1 advice to students accessing the service. It will also incorporate a range of responsibilities and activities including development, delivery and dissemination of advice information and resources, policy research and consultation, and supporting wider students’ union campaigns, events and activities.
Your work will be key in helping all students understand and exercise their rights, and to navigate challenging times or unforeseen events.

Applicants should be self-motivated with a proactive and flexible approach. The successful candidate will be able to present information clearly and concisely in writing and verbally, and be able to develop a clear working knowledge of a range of University policies and procedures. An understanding of advice work and ability to deal sensitively with enquiries from a diverse range of individuals, and manage potentially difficult or emotional situations calmly and confidently, is important.

This is a full-time (35hrs/wk), permanent role with a flexible start date (ideally November). Employees must be available to work from campus, with the option for some occasional home working if appropriate for the role and in agreement with their line manager. We offer a competitive starting salary of £30,609. Join us and help shape the future of our Students' Union!
