About the Role
Emerging Leaders is seeking freelance Trainers in and around Sheffield / Manchester / Blackpool / Nottingham / Liverpool / Birmingham to deliver “Game Plan”, a transformational four-session training programme designed to equip individuals with the mindset, motivation, and practical skills to flourish—even in the midst of adversity.
This role is ideal for people who are already embedded in community settings and have established relationships with adults (18+) who may feel stuck, overlooked, or limited by circumstance, in particular those on universal credit, experiencing or at risk of homelessness, NEETS, those struggling with confidence and well-being, or experiencing food insecurity.
Our vision is to see the training delivered across the UK. We’re looking for trainers who can run the programme regularly within their local network, area or region, building trust, momentum, and impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Emerging Leaders Trainer, you will:
- Identify and work with local partners to mobilise groups
- Deliver the “Game Plan” course, maintaining the quality, integrity and consistency of training delivery.
- Create engaging, inclusive learning environments where participants feel safe, seen, and supported.
- Act as a key point of contact for participants throughout the course
- Collect and record agreed data before, during, and after delivery
- Meet monthly with the UK Programme Co-ordinator, and a small team of UK trainers.
- Represent Emerging Leaders with professionalism and care in community settings

About the Role
Advice Giving
• Deliver a multi-channel advice service, including home visits, to clients regarding their energy needs and income maximisation support, ensuring advice provided meets the requirements of Citizens Advice quality standards.
• Ensure all case recording and other record keeping is completed within agreed timescales and conforms to the Office Manual and the Advice Quality Standards
• Use sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and to identify the next course of action.
• Use a range of information sources to find relevant information, then interpret and communicate this to clients, enabling them to tackle fuel poverty and financial hardship for the long-term.
• Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer internally or to other specialist agencies as appropriate.
• Meet the individual performance targets set as part of this project.
Research & Campaigning
• Take an active role in the research and campaigns process by identifying trends and social policy issues and communicating these to the Project Supervisor and Research & Campaigns Co-ordinator.
• Keep up to date with current research and campaigns priorities, initiatives and plans.
Administration
• Collect and record all relevant information given during interviews on to Casebook to meet the monitoring and evaluation requirements of the project.
• Be self-administering and undertake general administration tasks e.g. taking messages; photocopying, collating, filing; processing post etc.
Professional development
• Pass the City and Guilds NEA Level Energy Awareness exam within 2 months of starting the role.
• Keep up to date with relevant energy advice issues and maintain an up to date working knowledge of all new relevant legislation through:
o Attending training opportunities.
o Reading monthly subscriptions, relevant publications and Citizens Advice Updates.
• Prepare for and attend supervision sessions/team meetings/staff meetings/forums, as appropriate.
• Identify and implement your own learning and development needs.
Other duties and responsibilities
• If required, work from a variety of Citizens Advice Liverpool outlets across the city as required over the course of the week.
• Promote the aims, policies, and membership requirements of the Citizens Advice service.
• Ensure all processes and procedures that relate to the responsibilities of the role are delivered with a high level of awareness of the organisation’s equality and diversity ethos and policies.
• Be a positive ambassador for Citizens Advice Liverpool.

Requirements
Desirable
1. One year’s experience of delivering generalist advice within Citizens Advice or another quality assured environment such as AQS.

We are seeking a Family Service Manager to lead our flagship family service based in HMP Altcourse. This is an ideal opportunity if you are seeking a hands-on role within a prison setting, who is confident in working in complex environments and wants to create meaningful change within punitive systems. You will lead a multidisciplinary team who deliver high-quality, therapeutically informed, arts-based work with men in prison and their families. You will bring together creative group interventions, bespoke family counselling services, and day-to-day practical family support within a complex prison environment.
As the Family Service Manager, you will lead a team of Programme Co-Ordinator's, Facilitators, Family Counsellors, a Deputy Service Manager, and other appropriate staff. The team deliver programmes such as Fathers Inside and Man Up which have received national recognition and have been delivered nationally across custodial and community settings. The role requires leadership experience, managing a diverse team, with line management responsibilities to support, enable, and empower your team to deliver high quality support to the participants of our programmes and their families. You will work closely with prison and Sodexo colleagues, as well as other internal SIG teams to ensure innovative, safe, and compassionate service delivery.
