Headway East London is looking for a creative and values-driven Communications Officer to support and develop the voice of Headway East London – working with our community of brain injury survivors, volunteers, and staff to co-produce content that shares our stories, increases awareness and broadens our reach.

You’ll play a central role in promoting our services, supporting income generation, and amplifying the voices of our members through a range of marketing and communications activity. You’ll balance digital know-how with a collaborative approach, developing accessible, engaging content across channels including our website, social media, e- newsletters, and print materials.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Delivery

• Deliver and support the implementation of our communications and marketing strategy across all channels (digital and print).
• Support a regular calendar of activity across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, BlueSky, YouTube) to maintain and grow a network of online supporters.
• Support on maintaining and developing content for the Headway East London website (using WordPress and Elementor), including blog posts, service pages and events.
• Create engaging, relevant and accessible content including copy, video, photography, audio and graphics (using Canva), in line with brand guidelines and accessibility principles.
• Co-ordinate monthly e-newsletters and other communications using Mailchimp to a variety of audiences.

Community & Co-Production

• Work with our members(services users - people with brain injury),volunteers and staff to co-create content that reflects their voices and experiences.
• Ensure accessibility is embedded in all communications, including use of plain English, inclusive visuals, and a variety of formats.
• Engage the wider Headway East London community in developing campaigns, storytelling, and communications planning.

Campaigns, Partnerships & Income Generation

• Support fundraising and development teams to plan and deliver digital campaigns that increase donations, engagement and awareness.
• Explore opportunities for brand development, partnerships and earned media that align with our values and strategic priorities.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with local and national media outlets and stakeholders.

Internal Communications

• Support internal communication needs across the organisation, helping teams stay informed and connected across multiple sites.
• Help develop internal resources and templates that enable teams to produce consistent, values-led communications.

Summary of the role: 

The Head of Income Generation & Marketing is a key member of Muslim Aid’s Leadership Team, responsible for executing the organisation’s fundraising and marketing strategy and overseeing all marketing and communications activities across the organisation. The post holder will lead the delivery of income generation plans, providing strategic direction and hands-on operational support to their direct reports to maximise income across all sub-department income streams. They will be accountable for growing and sustaining revenue from a diverse portfolio of supporters across the UK, ensuring income targets are met or exceeded.

The role includes mentoring and leading Management, supporting them to implement effective fundraising activity, achieve ambitious income and renewal targets year on year, and deliver high-quality stewardship experiences for supporters.

About the Role:

1. Design and deliver MA’s cross organisational fundraising and marketing strategy with a focus on sustainable and reliable unrestricted income generation. This will include key activities, areas of required investment, KPIs and milestones as well as the projected growth of fundraising income
2. Increase and diversify existing and new revenue streams specifically digital, CSR and private philanthropy.
3. Drive delivery against income targets by setting clear, ambitious, and achievable operational targets for each income stream, ensuring teams are supported to meet objectives aligned with Muslim Aid’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
4. Provide effective marketing leadership for the organisation in collaboration with key stakeholders and drive forward transformational integrated marketing activities and campaigns.
5. Provide inspiring and motivating values-driven leadership to the team that enables them to deliver their goals and achieve their potential.
6. Build on the areas of High Net Worth and CSR in regards to income generated from corporate, major donor and trusts so that these areas become part of our sustainable fundraising foundation.

Job Purpose

The Marketing and Campaigns Manager is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the company’s marketing, campaigns and district event activity. You will lead on the planning and delivery of integrated marketing and engagement strategies and brand activations that enhance visibility, support our five-year business plan and strengthen stakeholder relationships. This role will require creativity, organisation, collaboration and a strong ability to deliver results.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Campaigns, Content Creation and Management

- Schedule and manage the annual marketing calendar in line with company objectives.

- Develop tailored campaigns for audiences to drive member engagement, brand and district awareness.

- Plan, execute and optimize campaigns across digital and print channels.

- Develop campaign toolkits and templates to support member participation.

- Maintain accurate and timely content on the company’s websites and channels to reflect the brand values, activity and evolving reputation.

- Plan and update all social media accounts including but not limited to Meta and LinkedIn with responsibility for growth targets.

Brand and communications

 - Assist in the planning and delivery of a new brand identity and brand proposition

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership materials for use in member communications.

- Responsible for sourcing, designing and maintaining an up-to-date bank of corporate assets.

- Act as brand guardian for all corporate content and visual identity.

 Event Planning and Delivery

Person Specification

- Marketing experience gained through working in direct response, member marketing or similar, likely to require at least 5 years prior relevant experience.

Our Second Home (OSH) is a youth movement for young people with refugee experience to build community, become leaders, and flourish in the place they now call home. Each year, thousands of displaced young people arrive in the UK facing isolation, disruption to education, and limited opportunities to belong. OSH exists to change that.

Our work begins with residential programmes, where young people form friendships, build confidence, and experience joy and belonging. From there, many go on to take part in our nationally certified Leadership Training Programme and our regular Youth Hubs in London and Bristol. With the right support, young people return as peer leaders themselves – shaping programmes, mentoring others, and helping to build a self-sustaining, youth-led movement.

We are now looking for a Communications & Content Producer to help bring this work to life. This role is about turning the energy, warmth and leadership that exists across OSH into compelling stories, images and short videos that deepen connection with supporters, recruit volunteers, and support fundraising and events.

The role (abridged - see attached job description)

The Communications & Content Producer is a freelance role, working 1.5 days per week, reporting to the CEO. You will be responsible for capturing and producing content from across OSH’s programmes – particularly youth hubs, leadership training days and residentials – and shaping it into consistent, values-aligned output across our digital channels.

This includes attending programmes to capture photos, short-form video and quotes; identifying moments that tell the story of OSH; and maintaining a simple, organised content library. You will lead delivery of a regular social media rhythm, with a particular focus on Instagram, including posts, reels and stories, as well as adapting content for other platforms where appropriate.

You will develop and run a small number of recurring content series, write clear and engaging captions in UK English, and design simple, on-brand graphics using tools such as Canva. The role also involves producing a monthly supporter email newsletter, keeping key website pages up to date, supporting fundraising pushes and events such as the Young Leaders’ Graduation Showcase, and helping amplify partners, funders and sector allies.

Alongside content creation, you will put in place light systems – a content calendar, simple co-creation processes for staff and volunteers, and basic analytics – to track what is working and refine output over time.

About You

You do not need a traditional communications background, but you should be excited by youth spaces, storytelling and social impact. You are proactive, organised and practical, with the confidence to work independently and make good use of limited hours.

You will have experience managing social media channels and creating content for an organisation, campaign or project. You are comfortable capturing and editing photos and short-form video on a smartphone, writing clearly and concisely in UK English, and adapting tone for different platforms including Instagram, email and LinkedIn. You care about quality, but you are not precious – you get content made.

Crucially, you are confident working in youth and community settings, committed to safeguarding and consent, and thoughtful about how young people are represented. You build trust easily, encourage others to contribute ideas and content, and understand the importance of protecting dignity as well as telling a strong story.

Experience working or volunteering in youth, refugee or grassroots community settings is highly valued. Alignment with OSH’s values – young people at the centre, acting with not for, leadership, and freedom and acceptance – is essential.

Salary: up to £55,000 per annum 

Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire - Hybrid working with regular travel to other places of work.

We are seeking an experienced content specialist to lead the production of high-impact communications that help more people connect with The Wildlife Trusts’ cause and put nature into Recovery. 

Our Head of Communications plays a leading role in enabling The Wildlife Trusts to deliver inspiring, impactful and brand-aligned engagement with our target audiences. 

You will bring your experience of translating strategy and audience insights into content that gets people talking, to help strengthen our brand and inspire more people to take meaningful action for nature. 

You will be responsible for leading and developing teams tasked with content creation (including publications, events, graphic design and film), social media management and ambassador and influencer relations. 

An excellent writer, with a flair for design and the ability to commission compelling photography and video content, you will be brimming with fresh ideas, alongside having a strong track record in delivering to agreed strategic priorities and timeframes.

This hub will become a central point for schools, kitchen teams and caterers to seek inspiration. This role will sit in our communications team and focus on creating clear, engaging and practical resources that help people take action, whether that is a headteacher looking to improve their whole school to food or a school chef looking to transform their school meals.

You will help turn complex ideas, research and on the ground practice into user friendly content, in a range of formats, that reflects our brand, showcases the work of our chefs, schools, patrons and partners, and puts the wellbeing of children and young people at its heart.

About you and the role

This role will initially support the set up and roll out of a national school food resource hub, supporting the creation of resources for the platform, working closely with internal teams and external partners. With the hub still in development, you will be joining at a crucial point to help shape what goes live, how it looks and sounds, and how useful it is for the people we most want to reach.

Our aim is that schools and the wider school food community can quickly find practical, trusted resources that help them improve food in schools. That might be a headteacher looking for a simple starting point, a school chef wanting a clear guide to implement new practices, or a teacher looking to introduce food education. 

Your role will focus on creating and maintaining high quality resources for the hub. You will turn ideas, evidence, and stories into clear content in different formats, including short one to two pagers, multi-page guides, videos, photographs and interactive resources. You will adapt your writing and framing to different audiences, keeping content aligned with brand guidelines.

This role sits within our comms team but works closely with our school transformation and membership teams. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and develop content, including supporting interviews and capturing case studies. You will also help manage the day to day flow of content into the hub, keeping resources organised, up to date and easy to navigate, while bringing a curious, practical mindset that helps us keep improving what we publish. You’ll identify any resources that could be a wider engagement tool to draw more people to the hub.

Key responsibilities: 

• Work with internal teams and external partners to develop and produce resources for the resource hub, aligned with project priorities and timelines.

• Turn existing programme materials, case studies and evidence into clear, attractive resources for different audiences (e.g. school leaders, kitchen teams, young people, parents, funders, policymakers).

• Write and edit copy for 1–2 pagers, multi page guides, slide decks, toolkits and the resource hub’s webpages.

• Work with colleagues to storyboard, script and produce short films for the resource hub. Where the resources could appeal to a wider audience, you will link up with the comms team to promote the hub.

• Create and maintain website content for the resource hub, writing clear copy for landing pages, navigation and resource descriptions, and working with the CMS to keep content up to date and well-organised

• Create short videos and films on your phone and capture photography in schools and at events.

• Work with the programme teams to build simple infographics, charts or visuals that explain impact and evidence.

• Ensure all content follows our brand guidelines, tone of voice and accessibility standards.

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including teachers, chefs, young people and partner organisations, to gather information, quotes and approvals.

• Support interviews with pupils, school staff, chefs and partners, including preparing questions, note taking and transcribing.

• Support the management of content on the resource hub content management system, including tagging, links and basic SEO.

• Help maintain a content calendar for the resource hub and keep track of versions, approvals and review dates.

• Support testing of resources with users (e.g. short surveys, feedback sessions with teachers or pupils) and feed learning into future content.

• Contribute to wider communications activity, including newsletters, social media and events, as needed. 

• Ensure all resources comply with our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

• Help to maintain basic documentation for resource creation, such as user guides and internal process notes.

 Essential skills & experience:

Overall Purpose of the Role

Campaign project planning and implementation 

• Lead the delivery of marketing materials and campaigns from brief to evaluation using project management tools to set, monitor and evaluate progress  
• Develop and implement plans for marketing and communications activities, using a wide range of tactics to reach target audiences, setting objectives, KPIs and making the best use of tactics.

• Act as a business partner to fundraising and funding teams to influence their marketing plans and support delivery, providing expertise on the Charity brands and expertise on a wide range of marketing tactics, including digital marketing, internal comms, PR and communications, events and collateral development.  
• Work with the Senior Brand and Content Manager to support with content production, eg copywriting content and working with external suppliers on video and photo production.  

Delivery 

• Delivery across brands, through effective end to end project management and prioritisation as well as ensuring alignment of stakeholder expectations. This could include managing the delivery of the following –brand awareness and fundraising campaigns, impact reports, branded merchandise, case studies, challenge event collateral, digital assets, hospital onsite collateral, pull up banners, posters, leaflets, DM packs, fulfilment materials, digital assets including videos, photography and animations for social media  

Central to your role will be: 

• Leading project groups to deliver outstanding campaigns  
• developing and managing timing plans and scheduling

Analysis and research 

• Test and evaluate marketing and communications activities, providing the insights and data that influences decisions about future activities.

Collaboration, Relationship Building and Networking 

• Build excellent working relationships with the Evelina London and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Trust Communication Teams, fundraising and funding colleagues - sharing objectives, agreeing plans and looking for opportunities to work across teams to maximise impact. Ensuring they are kept informed and consulted on plans and activities. Organise and lead regular planning meetings between teams.  
• Support effective information flow and collaboration through regular meetings with the digital team.  

Celebrity engagement and media 

• Provide specialist support in developing opportunities involving celebrity engagement.  
• Provide support and matrix management to the Senior Media Officer (Trust employed) to ensure we are maximising media and PR opportunities  

Budget and supplier management 

• Manage project and campaign budgets including invoicing and regular financial reporting.  
• Manage external suppliers, ensuring procurement procedures are followed, suppliers are fully briefed and deliver projects to deadline and to budget.  

Other 

• Pro-actively spot opportunities to grow our 3 charity brands, sharing best practise and knowledge with teams to maximise campaign effectiveness

Work environment 

The post holder should expect to: 

• Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.

General Responsibilities:

Supervisory responsibilities: This role also oversees management of the supporter CRM and Supporter Care, line managing the Smile Train UK Database Manager and Supporter Experience Officer.
 

Required Education and Experience:

• 5+ years of progressive experience in a direct marketing role, proven track record in planning and delivering effective direct marketing campaigns across a range of channels including Direct Mail, DRTV, Telemarketing, SMS and Print channels 
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for this required level of education.
• Skilled with modern and traditional marketing and fundraising channels 
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making 
• Able to take ownership of a process and to use problem solving skills to resolve issues.
• Fluency in a donor CRM, experience with Salesforce preferred
• Demonstrable organisational, professional, and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across teams 
• Excellent people-management skills with the ability to coach and line manage staff
• Excellent project manager who is extremely detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of managing creative agencies, printers and external agencies 
• Ability to communicate the impact of marketing efforts with data 
• Able to function both independently and as part of a global team.
• Familiar with the MS Office

We’re Level Water - a founder-led charity solving unequal access to swimming for children with disabilities. We’re not a typical charity. We own our swim events and run them like a business, creating a sustainable income stream that directly funds our programmes. The opportunity

This isn’t a “keep programmes running” role.

This is a build, lead, and scale a national delivery model role.

As Head of Programmes, you’ll own how Level Water’s programmes are designed, delivered, improved, and expanded. You’ll take a proven model, design for growth  and help turn it into something category-defining - working at pace, making smart decisions, and setting the standard for what inclusive swimming can look like across the UK.

You’ll work closely with the CEO and senior team, lead our brilliant programme function (a Training and Excellence Manager and Programmes Officer), and bring energy and momentum to a part of the organisation that sits right at the heart of our impact.

What you’ll actually own

Programme design, quality & scale

• You’ll own how Level Water’s programmes are designed, delivered, and grown - now and into the future.

• Set the strategic direction for our lesson delivery model, ensuring it scales without losing quality, care, or joy.

• Lead and develop the Programmes team, setting clear priorities, standards, and ways of working.

• Ensure programmes are safe, inclusive, effective, and consistently high-quality as delivery expands.

• Build the systems and processes that make great delivery easier at scale, not harder.

Impact, learning & continuous improvement

• You’ll define how we understand, measure, and improve our impact - and use learning to drive better delivery.

• Ensure we gather meaningful insight from families, swimmers, teachers, and partners.

• Turn data and feedback into clear learning that actively shapes programme decisions.

• Lead Level Water’s approach to impact reporting for funders, partners, Trustees, and the Board, alongside the Senior Leadership Team.

• Set clear success measures and use them to guide prioritisation, iteration, and growth.

Strategic partnerships, funding & sector influence

• You’ll build the relationships and credibility that enable sustainable programme growth and wider change.

• Build and manage strategic partnerships with national pool operators and delivery partners.

• Secure and manage national agreements that unlock scale and improve access.

• Work closely with Fundraising to shape strong, realistic programme content for grants and funding proposals.

• Own the programme side of grant-funded delivery, ensuring work is well planned, delivered to a high standard, and reported with clarity and confidence.

• Represent Level Water externally as a credible, influential voice in inclusive swimming, helping to shift culture and practice across the sector.

• Salary: Head of: £46k-57k (depending on experience)

We are looking for a Skills Development and Engagement Coordinator who will be involved in supporting the programme journey of a young person from when they have a confirmed place on our programmes to the point when they start their expedition or adventure with us. The successful candidate will also coordinate the delivery of our Expedition Workshops and manage our Workshop Facilitators.

If you are an energetic, mature, and motivated self-starter keen to take on new challenge come and help us prepare young people for adventure and to achieve their fundraising targets.  You will need to be hard working, proactive, practical and organised, and have the self belief to be a confident communicator and empathetic to the different starting points of young people. You’ll be motivated by targets, and able to identify opportunities and foster relationships with young people and other stakeholders as part of our wider British Exploring Society community.
