About the Royal School for the Blind Charity
The Royal School for the Blind Charity Liverpool is a charity that runs both a School for young people aged 2-19 years old and an adult day service for young adults over the age of 19 with vision impairment, sensory, or additional needs. Although our funding comes from a variety of sources, we are starting to fundraise to support our income and make our work more sustainable for the future. Income generated will support the development of our pupils and young adults, prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life and encourage their independence, communication and mobility.
Why this role matters
We have ambitious plans for the future including building a new Centre to provide opportunities for therapies and independent growth for young people, and we know that developing sustainable voluntary income will be critical to achieving them. That's why we're investing in fundraising and creating this new role. As our first Development Manager, you'll have the opportunity to build our fundraising approach from the ground up, developing new relationships with individuals, businesses, communities and charitable funders and helping us tell the story of our work to new audiences.
Role Overview and Application Process
Job Title: Charity Development Manager
Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week)
Location: This role can be either office-based at the Royal School for the Blind Charity, or hybrid.
Responsible to: Charity Leadership Group and managed by Head of Central Services
Pay Scale: £35k - £40k, depending on experience (NJC 26-30)
Term: Two-year fixed term in the first instance, with the ambition to establish fundraising as a sustainable long-term function within the charity.
This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a new fundraising operation from the ground up, playing a pivotal role in the long-term growth and sustainability of the Royal School for the Blind Charity. As the function develops, there will be scope to expand its reach and impact, offering excellent potential for career progression.
The Charity Development Manager will lead efforts to secure vital income that underpins the charity’s vision and purpose, driving support through donor engagement, targeted campaigns, and strategic fundraising initiatives. Our long-term ambition is to build a diversified fundraising programme capable of generating approximately £400,000 annually. This role will be instrumental in developing and delivering a growing, high-performing fundraising portfolio.
We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional who can design and deliver a robust, evidence-based fundraising strategy. This will involve gaining a deep understanding of the charity’s mission, stakeholders, and audiences, as well as the broader funding landscape, creating a diversified and effective approach that maximizes income and long-term sustainability. This is an exciting time for the Charity as we become much more outward-looking. Alongside our existing work, we have begun a capital building project to enhance our resources. When completed, the new Rushton Centre will house facilities which are open to the public, including a hydrotherapy pool and a café. At the heart of this is a wish to make the Royal School for the Blind Charity part of the fabric of the City.
In this new post we are looking for someone who can help open up our work to the wider public: the role is well suited to an experienced fundraiser looking for autonomy and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter in the charity’s history.
Although this is a new standalone fundraising role, you won't be building the function in isolation. The post sits within a well-established and supportive team and will be strategically led by the Charity Leadership group and Board of Trustees. In addition, you will have access to colleagues across our services to help bring our impact to life, and support to develop campaigns and engage new audiences. Alongside this, the Charity is currently fundraising for a capital project for a significant new building to resource our activities and reach out into the wider community. Whilst this is a separate project, in the future there will be exciting opportunities to link the new building into the core fundraising strategy.
For full roles and responsibilities please see the application pack.
Applications close: 9am on Wednesday 21st October
Shortlisting: Thursday 22nd October
Interviews: Wednesday 4th November
Preferred start date: January 2027 (or as soon as possible)

The Charity considers safeguarding as its highest priority and fosters an active safeguarding culture. The post will be subject to a range of pre-employment checks, including collection of 3 references, online checks and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Please note we do not accept CVs as a form of application. Please complete the application form attached.
Candidates are encouraged to book an informal chat with the Head of Central Services, to book this, please email HR. The email for HR can be found on the attached application pack.
We are here to support and meet the needs of children and young people with a vision impairment, sensory and other additional needs.

As a User Journey Support Manager, you will play a key role in helping social entrepreneurs access the funding and support they need to create positive social change. Working as part of our Social Entrepreneur Support Directorate, you'll be one of the first people applicants engage with, helping them understand our funding opportunities, navigate the application process, and access the right support at the right time.
Working across a range of funds and programmes, you will perform numerous actions such as answering applicant enquiries, assessing applications, managing award communications and delivering pre-application support. Your work will ensure applications move smoothly through the process and that every applicant receives a fair, accessible and inclusive experience.
Alongside delivering high-quality support, you'll help us continuously improve the experience we offer. Working closely with colleagues, you'll identify barriers faced by applicants, contribute to the development of accessible resources and processes, and bring the voice of social entrepreneurs into how we design and deliver our services. If you're passionate about equity, inclusion and helping people turn ideas into lasting social impact, this is an opportunity to make a real difference every day.
This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing people-focused support with strong organisation and attention to detail. You'll be equally comfortable speaking with applicants, managing complex information and data, and working collaboratively with colleagues to improve systems, processes and the overall applicant experience.

We work together to strengthen the voice of people: patients, service users, carers, their families, and the voluntary organisations that work for them.
Our Vision:
People shaping their health and care.
Our Mission:
We advocate for more inclusive and person centred health and care, shaped by the people who use and need it the most.
We do this by:
· Understanding and advocating for what matters to people especially those living with health conditions and groups who experience inequalities.
· Finding common cause across communities and conditions by working with member charities and those they support.

By engaging with these organisations, the CQC’s aim is to ensure that local health and care services meet the needs and preferences of the communities they serve.
For both organisations this is much more than just another engagement contract, it is a new partnership designed to make the voices the CQC hears from more than the sum of its parts. In our work with the Public Engagement Network, we are committed to:
1. Ensuring meaningful participation of people and communities
2. Championing accessibility and inclusion
3. Valuing VCSE organisations as equal partners
4. Ensuring insights collected lead to impact and action

Our approach to hybrid working
We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.
We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We also might ask you to meet in-person with members of your team from time to time, or to be available for face-to- face meetings with clients and partners where this enhances the work.
We assume that this would usually not amount to more than one day per fortnight for people who work full time. We are happy to discuss how this sits in your life. This can be agreed by your line manager.
In addition, because this role involves engaging with and recruiting to a large network of VCSE organisations, the post holder will be required to regularly attend in-person events across England. These are likely to take place around once a month and may sometimes require overnight stays. Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for events across England will be paid, however, travel to our London office will be at the expense of the postholder.
Please note that our offices are fully wheelchair accessible and that we are committed to making our workplace fully inclusive.

The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take a key management role within Happy Healthy You, a community-rooted organisation delivering culturally grounded health and wellbeing activity across Bradford, while playing a significant role in the delivery of the five-year Bradford Health Inequities Programme (Bhip).
You will work across HHU’s established programmes and community activity while helping to develop and strengthen the organisation as it grows. Alongside this, you will have a significant role in Bhip, supporting an ambitious programme that brings together communities, the VCSE sector and health and care systems to address health inequities driven by structural racism and discrimination.
The role offers a distinctive opportunity to connect strong community-based delivery with wider change, helping ensure that what is learned through HHU’s trusted relationships and Bhip’s work leads to better practice, stronger services, and demonstrable outcomes for communities.
You will join at a crucial point in the development of both HHU and Bhip, with genuine scope to shape how programmes are delivered, developed, evaluated, and improved as the work grows.
About you / The Role
You will be an experienced and capable programme manager with a strong track record of managing community-based programmes, activities, services, and teams, with the ability to design, develop and implement plans and projects that achieve effective delivery and measurable outcomes.
You will understand the realities of delivering culturally grounded health and wellbeing activity alongside Global Majority communities and be committed to addressing health inequities, structural racism, and discrimination.
You will be equally comfortable supporting the Bhip Programme Lead, HHU’s CEO and senior management with organisational priorities, managing staff and resources, and working alongside community teams to ensure delivery is well coordinated, responsive and of a consistently high standard. You will have a strong focus on evaluation, ensuring HHU and the Bhip programme can demonstrate the outcomes, impact, and value of its work.
As a key member of the Bhip team, you will lead the operational management of HHU’s contribution, ensuring its community engagement, co-design, Insight to Action and related activity is effectively planned, delivered, monitored, evaluated, and continuously improved.
You will understand how HHU’s existing trusted community activity provides an important route through which communities can engage with and shape Bhip’s aims and work. HHU’s established community delivery footprint will provide a key route for Bhip’s structural literacy, listening, story capture and co-design work, enabling community insight and stories to be translated into action and system change.
You will bring strong people management, organisation, and judgement, with the ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems and maintain effective relationships across HHU, Bhip, communities and partner organisations
Join SafeLives and help transform the response to domestic abuse across the UK through the groundbreaking work of The Drive Partnership.
As our Project Support Officer (Drive Partnership), you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of one of the UK's leading programmes working with high-harm, high-risk perpetrators of domestic abuse. Through excellent coordination, administration and project support, you will help ensure that projects are delivered effectively, deadlines are met and teams have the information and systems they need to achieve safer outcomes for victims, survivors and their families.
Working closely with colleagues across The Drive Partnership, SafeLives, Respect, Social Finance, commissioners and delivery partners, you will provide essential support to the Project Management Office (PMO) and wider programme teams. You will help maintain project documentation, trackers, risk and action logs, coordinate meetings and reporting cycles, manage shared inbox enquiries and ensure key project information is accurate, organised and up to date. You will also support the development of effective project management processes and contribute to the smooth running of multiple workstreams across the programme.
We're looking for someone with strong organisational and administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and experience coordinating projects, meetings or team activities. You'll be confident managing competing priorities, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be proactive, solution-focused and able to identify and escalate risks, issues or missing information appropriately. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint, are essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and values-led organisation while contributing to the work of The Drive Partnership, which is transforming the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. An understanding of the importance of partnership working, attention to detail and a commitment to ending domestic abuse for everyone, for good, will help you thrive in this role.
About SafeLives We are SafeLives, the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone, for good. We work with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse. We want what you would want for your best friend. We listen to survivors, putting their voices at the heart of our thinking. We look at the whole picture for each individual and family to get the right help at the right time to make families everywhere safe and well. And we challenge perpetrators to change, asking ‘why doesn’t he stop?’ rather than ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ This applies whatever the gender of the victim or perpetrator and whatever the nature of their relationship.
Last year alone, we delivered more than 700 sessions to over 15,000 learners across the UK in policing, health, housing, justice, education and the specialist sector. And we have reached 90,000 adult and 100,000 child survivors through programmes designed and delivered with partners.
In the last 9 years, close to 7,000 perpetrators have been challenged and supported to change through flagship interventions developed by The Drive Partnership and the programme continues to expand year on year.
Together we can end domestic abuse. Forever. For everyone.
