About the role:

This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up and see the direct impact of your work on people experiencing homelessness across London. As our first Philanthropy and Major Gifts Officer, you will work closely with the Assistant Director of Fundraising to bring our new strategy to life, shaping how we engage major donors and grow a powerful community of supporters who are motivated to stand alongside Single Homeless Project (SHP) and our clients. Every relationship you build and every gift you secure will help create real opportunities for our clients to move away from homelessness and towards safety, stability and independence.

You will take the lead in developing and managing meaningful relationships with major donors, creating thoughtful and engaging journeys that bring them closer to our work and the difference it makes day to day. Alongside nurturing existing supporters, you will identify and secure new funding opportunities, building a strong and sustainable pipeline of donors and driving forward this new area of income generation within the team. Working collaboratively across SHP, you will connect philanthropists with our services in a way that feels personal, impactful and rooted in the realities of our work, while contributing to the wider fundraising targets that enable us to keep delivering life changing support.

Hybrid working for us means a mix of in office working in Kings Cross and home working. Currently two days in the office (usually Wednesday and Friday) with the rest from home. 

About you:

• You have experience building relationships with donors, supporters or partners, and know how to turn those relationships into meaningful income or long term support.
• You’re a confident communicator, able to bring a cause to life through conversations and written content that genuinely connects people to impact.

Designed by families, for families, The Ark was opened in September 2019 by the Mayor of London. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Supporter Engagement Manager position is a pivotal role in the Public Fundraising team, comprising seven specialist Fundraisers. The post-holder is responsible for driving growth in our Individual Giving programme through a mix of acquisition and retention campaigns.

Key internal relationships include the Head of Supporter Engagement and the Fundraising Management team.

The post-holder will work closely with the Fundraising Data Manager and the Community Engagement Manager on collaborative income generation and Supporter Engagement activities.

The post-holder will be instrumental in shaping the Individual Giving and Supporter cultivation strategies geared towards increasing our Cash and Regular Giving Supporter base.

The Individual Giving programme includes Cash Appeals, Regular Giving (including Door-to-Door recruitment), Hospice Lottery, Challenge Events, Legacies and Supporter Care. There is a strong focus on digital fundraising.

The South East Gambling Harms Partnership—a strategic collaboration across eight regional Citizens Advice offices (East Berkshire, West Berkshire, Reading, Wokingham and Basingstoke, Rushmore, Tadley and Hart)—has secured dedicated funding through the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID). We are launching a pioneering initiative across Berkshire and North Hampshire to identify, prevent, and reduce the devastating impacts of gambling harms.

We are recruiting for 8 roles to build this brand-new, regional project team. Roles based in Berkshire will be employed by Citizens Advice Wokingham and roles based in North Hampshire will be employed by Citizens Advice Hart :

Position: Finance & Operations Manager 

• Working hours & Location:  2.5 days per week (20 hours) including both in-person hours in Norwich (Monday and Wednesday) and home working- we do offer some flexbility with the hours in office.

As Finance and Operations Manager, you will play a central role in our organisation- contributing to strategic decision-making while enabling frontline staff to deliver high-quality services. What you will be working on:

• Working closely with the Charity Director and Trustees, you will develop and manage the charity’s financial strategy, including setting annual budgets and producing quarterly management accounts with clear spend-versus-budget reporting. You will liaise with external accountants to prepare year-end accounts and take responsibility for day-to-day financial operations, including payroll and maximising Gift Aid income.

• You will also support the Charity Director and Trustees with staff recruitment, drafting contracts and job descriptions, and overseeing leave and timesheet processes.

Person Specification 

Essential

• Significant experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally as a COO, Head of Operations or Director of Operations in a charity, social enterprise or purpose-driven organisation.

• Demonstrable track record of building and improving operational infrastructure: systems, processes, policies and ways of working that make organisations more effective and resilient.

• Proven people management experience, including line management of senior staff, performance development, recruitment and team culture-building.

• Strong financial literacy, including experience of budget management, grant compliance, financial reporting and working with a board finance function.

• Experience of leading or supporting governance processes, including board reporting, risk management and compliance.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex operational information into clear, accessible reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.

• A genuine, demonstrable commitment to racial equity and an understanding of the specific systemic barriers faced by Black professionals, artists and communities.

What the job involves

The Education Team at Prostate Cancer UK delivers high-quality education for health professionals involved in prostate cancer care, supporting their development through face to face and online engagement, regular clinical updates and collaborative work across the organisation. We also partner with teams and external stakeholders to help increase engagement and reach, ensuring healthcare professionals feel informed, connected and equipped to support men and their families.

As an Education Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in making this happen. You’ll help organise and deliver healthcare professional education events and conferences across the UK, working closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure everything runs smoothly. You’ll also provide support to our digital communications, helping to build our marketing emails, healthcare professionals webpages and social media, so our work reaches the right audience.

Alongside this, you’ll provide essential day-to-day support to the team. This includes coordinating meetings and events, managing inbox enquiries, arranging travel, handling financial processes and keeping our systems and processes up to date. You’ll also help track and report on our impact, and lead on projects like the People’s Choice Award. It’s a varied role where you’ll work flexibly across teams, contributing to meaningful work that improves care for people affected by prostate cancer.

What we want from you

We’re looking for an Education Coordinator who is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities, using their initiative to keep work moving forward. You’ll have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a good eye for detail to ensure accuracy and consistency across your work.

You’ll be comfortable working with systems and processes, including maintaining spreadsheets, monitoring data and supporting financial activities. Experience of using digital communication channels such as social media or email newsletters is helpful but not essential, as well as the ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers. You’ll be able to work collaboratively across teams and adapt to changing priorities where needed.

An interest in supporting healthcare professionals and improving outcomes for men affected by prostate cancer is important for this role. Experience in, or understanding of, the health or voluntary sector would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.

How and where we work

Colleagues attend the office at least four days per month (pro rata for part-time colleagues) to collaborate, build relationships, and support projects and decision-making. You can choose where to work the rest of the time. Travel to the office is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs.

Additional in-person attendance will be required during your first few months for induction and training, to support you to learn the role and get to know colleagues.

This is a critical role that is responsible for managing the charity's day-to-day people management and development, ensuring appropriate processes are in place and in line with current and relevant legislation. RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Provide proactive coaching on values alignment and desired behaviours, with support and advice to managers and team members        on    all matters relating to people.
• Support managers to create an inclusive culture and workplace that gets the best out of our people.
• Promote and advocate for early resolution when issues arise, including Performance Improvement guided by organisational values         and policies.
• Effectively manage employee relations (ER) issues alongside line managers including, but not limited to absences, performance             management, disciplinary, grievances and dismissals, escalating to the Director of People as required.
• Support the Director of People to deliver change management programmes including TUPE transfers, redundancy and service re-       organisations.
• Develop an understanding of challenges, opportunities and people priorities in each team and work with managers to develop long term resource plans and succession planning.
• Support the Director of People in the development of information, reports and analysis for managers, the Strategic Management Team and the Board, to deliver insights and take action.
• Work with the Finance Manager to ensure the accurate processing of payroll.
• Support the end-to-end recruitment process, including attraction, supporting with job descriptions, shortlisting, interviews and the induction process.
• Build and implement engagement processes and activities including surveys, focus groups, conferences/away days and exit interviews, ensuring they deliver continuous improvement and enhance our reputation as a great place to work.

ROLE

• Support the implementation of Belonging, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (BDE&I) and wellbeing strategies and programmes
• Support the Director of People with the development of reward and recognition programmes
• Support the Director of People in creating learning and development programmes
• Support with the management of the L&D budget and programme, ensuring effective return on investment and value for money.
• Manage the organisation’s people information systems and identify opportunities for enhanced digital services.
• Analyse data e.g., from engagement surveys, exit interviews and turnover to inform the People Strategy and implement improvements.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

• Experience in managing, coaching and developing employees
• Degree in Organisational Psychology, HR, CIPD level 5 qualified or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
• Proven experience in managing the employee lifecycle (recruitment to exit)
• Adept at stakeholder management and relationship building across multiple teams
• Proven track record in managing varied, complex employee relations (ER) issues and capable of managing several issues at once
• Experience of planning and delivering L&D projects
• Experience of working successfully in a changing organisation where flexibility, agility and adaptability are essential.

Skills & knowledge

• Strong relationship building skills, you are equally comfortable having informal positive conversations as you are holding people to account and providing direct challenge

Key Duties for Form F Assessors include:

• To undertake and complete Form F assessments in the timescale set out in our policy and guidance.
• To visit personal referees as identified on application form for prospective foster carers.
• To ensure that all checks and references are undertaken and completed.
• To provide to the supervisor, regular written updates of the draft assessment.
• To liaise with our administrative team concerning the progress of administrative checks and completion of the Form F.
• To be available for supervision, consultation or liaison as required.
• To be available to present completed Form Fs to the virtual fostering panel and provide support to the applicants through this process.
• To be aware of our child protection procedures and immediately report any child protection matter or concerns to a TACT manager and any relevant placing authority and the area authority.
• To carry out the duties in line with our Foster Carer and Supervising Social Worker Standards and Practice Guidance.

Rates of Pay for Form F Assessors

• £2,250 per Form F Assessment / £37.50 per hour,  plus £250 bonus for ‘panel ready’ assessments, plus £250 bonus for completion within 16 weeks, plus 45p mileage
• £37.50 per hour for assessments which are not completed, and any other piece of work.

About this key role

You will also provide specialist advice and consultation to FFT caseworkers to strengthen ETE delivery across their caseloads, while also co-working complex cases requiring specialist input while maintaining FFT case ownership and delivering structured group work within PRUs, Alternative Provision and community settings.

Supporting families where appropriate to improve stability linked to employment and training and contributing to service-wide planning, delivery and continuous improvement of ETE provision are also key elements of this key role.
