We are looking for an experienced and motivated manager to lead a 14-bed, 24-hour supported hostel service in Richmond. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring it operates safely, effectively, and in line with SPEAR’s values, while delivering high-quality, trauma-informed support to residents with complex needs. 

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will:

• Lead and manage a team including a Team Leader and Support Workers
• Ensure safe staffing levels and effective rota management
• Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and incident response
• Drive high standards of service delivery and resident support
• Build strong relationships with local authorities and partner agencies
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, including fire safety and building standards
• Support residents to progress towards independence and move-on opportunities

You will combine operational leadership, staff management, and service development to create a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment.

The high value and campaign department at Breast Cancer Now are an ambitious team of relationship fundraisers that are committed to delivering significant growth over the next five years. Charitable trust grant-funding has a key role to play in this, with our particular focus on securing long-term committed funding for the organisation.

Our existing portfolio of charitable trust and foundation supporters includes a number of high-profile and high-value partnerships, in some cases held over decades.

We’re now seeking to increase, diversify, and drive our trusts fundraising programme to the next level. The trusts and statutory manager role will achieve this by growing our small to mid-value portfolios – significantly uplifting our conversion of supporters up to the five-figure level. About you

We’re looking for someone with a passion for making a positive impact through

relationship fundraising – and experience of success in grant fundraising in the small to mid-value area. A skilled multi-tasker, you’ll be adept in managing a high volume of prospects, applying gold-standard relationship principles consistently across your pipeline.  

You’ll be responsible for our small to mid-value portfolios and for growing the cumulative value of these. You’ll build a wide knowledge base and strong understanding of our important work to effectively engage with new, potential and existing supporters. With experience in taking a proactive approach, you’ll be equipped to regularly manage multiple tasks including new supporter approaches; thanking and stewardship journeys; and gift administration tasks.

You’ll be motivated to play a supportive role in our wider department fundraising goals while thriving in a team setting.

Our Partnership with Arts Council England 

Julie’s Bicycle delivers the Arts Council England’s Environmental Programme, supporting organisations to embed Environmental Responsibility (ER) within their governance, operations and programmes, and supporting the Arts Council England (ACE) to drive positive environmental change within the sector. The programme focuses on delivering support to National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) and Investment Principle Support Organisations (IPSOs), as well as the wider creative and cultural sector through a suite of free tools, resources, events and programmes.

Our programme is adaptive, responding to sector needs, insights and learning from delivery. As such, there is a significant opportunity for a collaborative and experienced project manager to deliver strands of work across the programme and to help shape the programme itself in response to learning and insights.

The Environmental Programme broadly includes: 

Sector support: developing resources, running events, facilitating workshops and peer share spaces to deepen understanding and share knowledge on topics relevant to environmental sustainability, tailored for freelance creatives, boards, cultural buildings and cultural practitioners; broadening access to cultural climate practice via creative climate e-learning;

Sector reporting: supporting organisations in reporting their environmental impacts and actions using the Creative Climate Tools - our platform created for cultural organisations and businesses.

Sector leadership: to inspire, develop and nurture sector leadership via a number of dedicated programme strands focused on governance, justice, resilience and decarbonisation.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an outstanding and energetic individual to join our team as a Culture and Climate Project Manager, leading and facilitating key strands of work across the programme in partnership with ACE.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Annual Report: project managing, writing and delivering the ACE Annual Report. Drawing together both qualitative and quantitative data, case studies and stories of change to create an annual snapshot of environmental activity across the portfolio. You will work closely with the ACE team Environmental Coordinator on this project. Tasks will include:

  • End-to-end project management: Create and manage the production timeline, ensuring the report is delivered on time and meets Arts Council England (ACE) standards.

  • Data Synthesis: Collaborate with the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to gather, analyse, and interpret both quantitative (carbon data, metrics) and qualitative (narrative progress) information.

  • Storytelling & impact: Coordinate the strategy and team involved in identifying and developing compelling case studies and "stories of change" that demonstrate the real-world impact of environmental activity across the portfolio.

  • Content development: Draft, edit, and refine the report narrative to ensure a compelling, cohesive, and accessible copy. Manage all the contributions to the copy and version control process.

  • Engage with ACE and JB’s comms team for the launch of the report to ensure maximum impact.

• E-learning module/s: Leading and project managing the development of new modules, working across internal teams to co-design and deliver engaging content and a great user experience.

  • Strategic lead: Serve as the primary project manager for the creation of new digital learning assets from concept to launch.

  • Content development co-design & collaboration: Lead on the content development and/or the facilitation of content co-creation with internal teams and expert associates to gather subject matter expertise and ensure content aligns with the programme’s strategy.

  • User experience (UX) oversight: Ensure modules are engaging, accessible, and intuitive for a diverse range of learners.

  • Production management: Oversee the technical and creative delivery of content, managing workflows between designers, LMS developers, and internal stakeholders.

• ACE partnership support: working in partnership with ACE's environmental responsibility team to help embed ER within the organisation, including stakeholder liaison and consultation workshops with area/regional managers.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Build and maintain strong working relationships with the ACE environmental responsibility team and regional leads.

  • Consultation & Facilitation: Design and lead workshops for area and regional managers to gather feedback and align on ER implementation strategies.

• Programme delivery: Working collaboratively on the delivery of the ACE programme. This will include:

  • Resource development: Conduct research to create toolkits, guides, and practical resources that support the wider ACE programme.

  • Training design: Develop and facilitate training sessions, ensuring content is tailored for both in-person and virtual delivery.

  • Group facilitation: Convene and lead focus groups, stakeholder networks, and leadership sessions to foster knowledge sharing and peer learning.

  • Collaborative team work: Work fluidly across the delivery team to support large-scale program milestones and ensure a high standard and participant engagement.

About you:

You will be passionate about the cultural sector's role in responding to the climate and nature crisis, and committed to embedding values of care, stewardship, justice and collaborative action within it.

Candidates may come from a climate science background and we welcome applications from candidates with non-traditional career paths. You must demonstrate significant project management and partnership experience, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will be an excellent communicator with a flexible, solution focused approach, and keen to also contribute actively to the learning and culture of the wider JB team.

Experience And Skills

Essential

• A genuine and demonstrable interest in arts and culture, the role they can play in the climate crisis, and the sustainability challenges facing the sector. This needs to be partnered with a deep and demonstrable commitment to climate justice.

• Significant project management experience (at least 5-7 years), developed across mid-large scale programmes, freelance work, or a combination of both, with strong attention to detail across all stages of delivery.

• Demonstrable experience in leading the development of e-learning or online training, whether through content design, learning frameworks, and/or digital/UX production, or transferable experience and skills that could demonstrate you’ll be able to lead deliver this part of the role.

• A degree in environmental science/studies/management/sustainability or related area, or a cultural degree that includes environmental/sustainability intersections or evidence of equivalent relevant expertise.

• Demonstrable experience of partnership working with external organisations and stakeholders, including facilitation of groups across cultural or environmental contexts. Ideally with cultural practitioners, institutions and funders.

• Experience of running consultation and/or action research with cultural or environmental sector individuals and organisations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across different partners and audiences and, ideally, proven ability to translate complex datasets and environmental metrics into accessible, compelling copy.

• A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and a genuine curiosity and commitment to drawing out learning to support adaptive programme design.

Desirable

• Knowledge of the ACE investment portfolio and/or the wider publicly funded cultural sector

• Experience of successfully managing climate, environmental and/or justice projects, working in partnership with external organisations

• Developed experience working with freelance artists and creative organisations within networks or peer sharing contexts

• Experience of participatory or co-design/collaboration approaches to content development, facilitation and consultation.

Philanthropy and Partnerships fundraising at Alzheimer's Research UK has grown significantly over recent years. The Directorate has a strong track record of soliciting seven-figure donations and winning significant corporate partnerships with well-known and well-loved brands such as Omaze, Cadbury, Warburtons, Roadchef and Dobbies.

We are now building upon this success and have launched a new, significant fundraising campaign. This campaign will help drive further transformational growth, from income across major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners. Ultimately, it will help us fund cutting-edge research that will bring forward the day when we can diagnose, treat and prevent dementia. 

As part of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Leadership Team, and working closely with the senior stakeholders across ARUK, the Head of Philanthropy will lead the organisation’s work with our philanthropy audiences (namely major donors, trusts and foundations). Under the banner of the new campaign, the Head of Philanthropy will define and implement the team’s strategy, ensuring it supports the charity’s vision, mission and strategic objectives. 

The Head of Philanthropy will lead a Directorate of approximately 8-10 people and line manage three team members (namely the Philanthropy Executive and two Philanthropy Managers).

The role holder will also personally lead on relationships with a small group of ARUK’s most generous supporters, and prospective supporters, across Philanthropy audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy, finance and reporting

· Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships and Partnerships to lead on the strategy for the Philanthropy Team, including leading on the Ops plan, budgeting and strategy for the team.

· Grow Philanthropy income at Alzheimer’s Research UK, in line with agreed targets and expenditure.

· Monitor progress against targets, adjusting as necessary.

· Provide direction, guidance and support across the Philanthropy team.

· Evaluate reporting methods across the team and ensure they facilitate the accurate recording of the Philanthropy team’s fundraising activities.

· Represent the Philanthropy team at Head level internally.

Fundraising

· Manage a small portfolio of key current and prospective donors, building strategic relationships at the very highest level and delivering six and seven-figure gifts.

· Build a network of Senior Volunteers, working with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships to ensure the team are maximising the opportunities available through our President, Chair and other senior stakeholders.

· Develop a thorough understanding of ARUK’s projects, policies and activities to enable you to articulate the mission of our work and inspire people to join us.

· Present and pitch to potential supporters and donors, managing high-level meetings where relevant and engaging other appropriate senior representation when needed.

· Ensure high-quality management of existing supporter relationships, making sure supporters find giving to ARUK rewarding and enjoyable.

· Tailor and develop Cases for Support to attract support for the work of ARUK’s projects.

· Manage and attend events and meetings with external representatives and involving the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, CEO and other colleagues and volunteers.

· Work with senior and scientific staff, empowering them to build relationships with current and prospective supporters.

· Explore the opportunities for cross-team working, especially, but not limited to the Corporate Fundraising and Celebrity teams.

Line Management and people management

· Inspire, motivate, challenge and support individuals and teams within the Philanthropy team. Promote collaborative working across the team and with other teams across the charity, developing a culture of innovation, openness, accountability and resourcefulness.

· Line manage three members of staff, namely two Philanthropy Managers and the Donor Relations Manager, actively empowering, coaching and supporting them to develop their teams’ operational plans and deliver on key priorities.

· Set clear goals, objectives and KPIs for each team member and provide them with the ongoing guidance and support they need to reach them.

· Role model and actively embed Alzheimer’s Research UK values and behaviours across all activities, and champion the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

· Provide strong leadership and support to the Philanthropy Team, through coaching, mentoring and developing individuals to enable them to effectively carry out their role.  Carry out performance appraisal meetings and effectively promote team building and collaborative working to deliver the strategic and operational plans.

· Ensure all Philanthropy and Partnerships activity is conducted to the highest standards and in line with the strategic priorities, developing consistent and rigorous methods for measuring success and sharing knowledge/outcomes across the team, department, and wider charity.

Communications

· Work closely with the Finance team to ensure all grants are correctly allocated and used, and conditions met

· Liaise and work with the Research team and the Communications team to produce accurate and timely reports and applications

· Stay up to date with ARUK’s research and other news to be able to communicate effectively with supporters, disseminating the charity’s key messages both among the team and to key supporters.

Knowledge, skills and experience needed:

· Demonstrable knowledge and experience of major gift fundraising.

· Thorough understanding of managing a team of fundraisers.

· Experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies.

· Proven track record in establishing, monitoring and achieving ambitious fundraising targets.

· Experience of managing a Philanthropy team to deliver significant income growth.

· Excellent communicator, with an ability to build relationships and inspire confidence and respect at all levels.

· Demonstrates strong negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills, with an ability to present arguments logically and confidently

· Excellent listening skills, receptive to feedback and demonstrates flexibility, curiosity and an ability to learn.

· Strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

As a trusted member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the postholder will act as a coach, adviser, and culture‑builder—championing equity, wellbeing, safeguarding, and effective leadership and line management across the charity, as well as playing a full role in cross-SLT pieces of work.

This post sits on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).  We are looking for a senior.  experienced, credible, and values‑driven people director, who combines strategic insight with a deeply human approach.

JOB PURPOSE

The Campaign Manager will lead RLSS UK’s flagship national campaigns, ensuring they are insight-driven, behaviour-changing, and capable of empowering communities to stay safe around water.

Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners, you will create compelling, impactful campaigns that raise awareness, shift behaviours, elevate water safety standards, and bring our mission to life for millions of people.

This role is central to how RLSS UK educates, influences, and protects communities across the UK and Ireland.

ROLE OVERVIEW

From honing our campaign strategy to sparking collaborations with external organisations and delivering creative and engaging content, you’ll be a key player in shaping how RLSS UK and our work are seen by the public and partners.

You will lead the development and delivery of impactful, insight-driven campaigns that increase public awareness of both RLSS UK and the importance of water safety, share the skills and knowledge needed to prevent drowning, and engage and educate diverse audiences to amplify RLSS UK’s mission. Working closely with colleagues across marketing and communications, policy and public affairs, education, and membership, you will create compelling campaigns that inspire action, strengthen our brand presence, and educate.

You will collaborate with partners, members, stakeholders, supporters, and media outlets to ensure RLSS UK remains a trusted national voice in water safety. Through strategic storytelling, public mobilisation, and cross-channel campaign delivery, your work will help influence behaviours, shape understanding, and ultimately reduce accidental drownings.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Leadership

• Lead, develop, and deliver RLSS UK’s major national public campaigns, including:

- Drowning Prevention Week

- Don’t Drink and Drown

- Splash Safely at Home

- Project manage the end-to-end‑ delivery of multichannel campaigns (digital, print, PR, in-person events,‑ and partner channels).

• Ensure all campaigns are insight-led, supported by relevant data and evidence, designed to be inclusive and accessible, and effectively reach audiences at higher risk of drowning.
• Support public-facing communications for policy and public affairs, including web, email, and social channels.
• Contribute to organisation-wide planning, ensuring campaigns support fundraising, education, and membership goals where appropriate.
• Develop end‑to‑end campaign journeys for supporters, partners, and stakeholders who engage with or pledge support, to deepen involvement, encourage advocacy, and maximise long‑term impact.
• Work proactively across internal directorates to co‑create and deliver campaigns that maximise reach, effectiveness, and impact.
• Conduct audience and stakeholder mapping for each campaign to identify priority groups, collaboration opportunities, and the most effective channels, partners, and messengers to maximise reach and impact.
• Ensure every campaign has a documented project plan, agreed before launch, with defined objectives, timelines, roles, and KPIs.

Creative Development & Content

• Produce engaging, accessible, and inclusive content that resonates with diverse audiences and consistently adheres to RLSS UK brand guidelines.
• Lead creative development, case study sourcing, storytelling, celebrity/influencer engagement, and campaign assets.
• Drive user‑generated content as a core engagement strategy, encouraging partners, members, and the RLSS UK community to share stories, visuals, and experiences that support campaign objectives.

Partnerships & Collaboration

• Build strong partnerships with communities and organisations, including emergency services, sports bodies, youth groups, and local authorities, to amplify campaign reach and impact.
• Support the participation of people with lived experience in campaigns, including bereaved families, with care and tact, ensuring authentic and meaningful involvement.
• Proactively identify and develop new partnerships, influencer and celebrity relationships to expand the reach, engagement and impact of each major campaign.

Delivery & Campaign Operations

• Oversee campaign production schedules, asset development, and delivery across all channels.
• Maintain campaign budgets and align spending with goals.
• Develop and maintain campaign‑specific brand guidance to support consistent use of RLSS UK messaging, tone of voice, and visual identity across all channels and audiences.
• Create and manage campaign packs for partners that set clear requirements for the correct use of the RLSS UK name, assets, messaging, and attribution, ensuring consistent representation across all partner activity.
• Ensure all campaign activity is consistent with RLSS UK brand guidelines, inclusive and accessible, on-brand, compliant, and aligned with RLSS UK’s strategic priorities.
• Ensure all campaign materials are reviewed and approved in line with RLSS UK brand governance processes prior to public launch.
   

Evaluation & Reporting

• Set clear campaign KPIs and monitor performance using robust, insight-driven metrics.
• Provide regular reporting on campaign reach, engagement, outcomes, and contribution to reducing drowning risk.
• Complete post‑campaign evaluations within agreed timeframes, identifying clear, actionable recommendations to inform continuous improvement across future campaigns.
• Use campaign evaluations, performance data, and insight to drive measurable year‑on‑year improvement in campaign outcomes, applying learning consistently to improve reach, engagement, and impact.

• All other duties reasonably associated with your role, as directed by the Line Manager.
• Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 by complying with internal information governance policies and maintaining up-to-date documentation as part of RLSS UK’s compliance programme.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes

• Proven experience in delivering multi-channel public campaigns
• Strong project management skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
