-
Job title: Fundraising Partnerships Manager
-
Location: Hackney Bridge, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London (a canalside public destination less than five minutes from Hackney Wick station)
-
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 FTE depending on experience, pro rata to £24,000-£27,000
-
Hours: 0.6 FTE (3 days/21 hours per week) with a view to the role expanding to full-time in the future. Office hours are 10am - 6pm with occasional evenings and weekends. Flexible working opportunities are available.
Who are The Outrunners?
The Outrunners are a running and movement charity based in Hackney, on a mission to empower young people through movement. Backed by an incredible crew of volunteers and partner brands like Nike and Moju, we help young people in East London to build confidence, wellbeing, health and leadership skills.
We deliver free, fun, sociable, youth‑led running and movement sessions for 8–18 year olds every week - during term time and holidays. But we’re about more than just running. We also create space for young people to explore creativity and culture, go on exciting trips, access wraparound wellbeing support, and develop the skills and opportunities they need to shape the futures they want.
Over the past five years, we’ve supported thousands of young people and helped push greater diversity within the running world.
We like to do things differently - taking young people out of their everyday environments and into exciting new spaces, opening doors to opportunities they might not otherwise have access to. If that sounds like something you want to be part of…read on.
Our achievements
We’re a small charity but we pack a mighty punch. Our income has grown year-on-year since we became a charity 6 years ago - allowing us to expand our core team and move into office premises large enough to incorporate a Youth Hub. Last year we worked with over 1,150 young people through our school and communities programs, and this year we’re looking to expand our work even further!
To give you a sense of the kinds of work that we do, over the last year we have:
-
Hosted a free Girls’ Festival for 100+ ethnically diverse young girls, allowing them to try running sessions, creative classes and yoga experiences in a safe and empowering environment.
-
Hosted free training Academies for ethnically diverse women and young people aged 16-21 to train for their very first half or full marathons! We offered physical, emotional and logistical support throughout their training journey and cheered on every single one of them as they ran either the Hackney Half or the London Marathon under The Outrunners name. Since programme launch, we have worked with over 250 people in our Academies.
-
Took diverse groups of young people to races and events, such as Hackney School Run and Black to the Trails.
-
Offered personalised mentoring to several of our young people who were struggling with school or life.
-
Expanded the career horizons of young people by offering them free work experience opportunities with our partner brands.
What do we want?
We are looking for an experienced Fundraising Partnerships Manager to help drive the next stage of growth at The Outrunners (current annual income circa £350k). This growth will enable us to expand our after-school and holiday programmes reaching more young people where they are, building their confidence and skills.
Reporting to the CEO, you will lead our brand and corporate partnerships fundraising strategy and delivery, securing and growing relationships with values-aligned brands and businesses who share our belief in the power of movement to transform young lives.
This is a strategic and hands-on role. You will identify new partnership opportunities, develop compelling proposals, and build long-term relationships that generate income, opportunities and experiences for the young people we support.
You will translate the lived experiences, energy and impact of our young people and programmes into compelling partnership opportunities that generate income, engagement and meaningful experiences for both our young people and partners.
You'll be equally comfortable developing strategy, pitching to partners, nurturing relationships and rolling up your sleeves to make things happen.
Does this sound like you?
-
A driven, experienced partnerships and fundraising professional who enjoys generating income, building strategic relationships and taking ownership of growth.
-
A natural networker and relationship-builder who is confident in engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Who we are
Nature is in crisis. People are destroying and consuming the natural world at a devastating rate, threatening the ecosystems on which all life depends. Birds are our early warning system, revealing the health of our planet and helping us understand the urgent action needed to protect it.
BirdLife International is the world’s largest partnership for nature conservation, bringing together 125 national organisations across six continents to protect birds, biodiversity and the natural systems that sustain life. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we work at the intersection of science, policy and community action to tackle the global nature and climate crises.
Using world-leading bird science, we collect and analyse data from across continents, landscapes and seascapes to identify the most effective and innovative conservation solutions. Our work conserves species, safeguards critical habitats and empowers communities to create lasting change for nature and people.
At the heart of BirdLife is a powerful global movement. More than two million birders, scientists and local volunteers help track, study and protect birdlife around the world, generating the knowledge and action needed to drive conservation impact at scale. Together, we are giving nature a voice and building a future in which birds, wildlife and people can thrive.
BirdLife International’s Development Team is in an exciting new phase of recruitment and growth and will be hiring for a number of roles to support growth and sustainability across the organisation – including this newly created role.
About the role
As Philanthropy Manager for the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region of BirdLife International, you will play a key role in growing philanthropic income to support the RENATE initiative and wider ecological restoration programmes across the region. Working with conservation partners throughout Europe and Central Asia, you’ll help secure support for landscape-scale restoration projects in the Balkans, Türkiye and the Caucasus, while building relationships with donors and foundations across key philanthropic markets, including Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
Joining at an exciting stage of growth, you’ll help shape BirdLife ECA’s approach to philanthropy, develop new funding opportunities and build lasting partnerships that support some of the region’s most important restoration programmes.
This is a newly created, highly external-facing role within a growing fundraising team, focused on engaging European foundations, major donors, family offices and donor-advised funds. You’ll play a leading role in establishing a sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support while helping to grow BirdLife ECA’s profile and fundraising reach across the region.
- Develop and implement a philanthropy fundraising strategy, including prospect cultivation and donor stewardship plans.
- Build a strong pipeline of prospective donors through research, networking and relationship development.
- Cultivate, solicit and steward new philanthropic relationships, securing first-time gifts, repeat support and multi-year partnerships.
- Create compelling funding propositions and tailored donor materials in collaboration with programme and development colleagues.
- Represent BirdLife International at donor meetings, conferences, networking events and cultivation activities across Europe.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an entrepreneurial, relationship-driven fundraiser excited by the opportunity to create something new within an international conservation network spanning Europe and Central Asia. This could be the ideal next step for someone with experience in philanthropy, major donor fundraising or another relationship-led discipline who is ready to broaden their experience and take on a more strategic, internationally focused role. What matters most is your ability to build trust, spot opportunities, develop meaningful relationships and engage supporters around a compelling vision.
You will bring sound knowledge of the European philanthropic landscape, excellent communication and influencing skills and the confidence to engage senior stakeholders with diplomacy, professionalism and discretion.
- Experience building and managing donor or stakeholder relationships, ideally within philanthropy, major giving, or another relationship-led fundraising environment.
- A proactive, self-starting approach with the confidence to help shape a newly created fundraising programme.
- Excellent communication skills, both written via strong proposals and verbal, with the ability to inspire, influence and negotiate with a range of audiences.
- A talent for networking, identifying opportunities and turning connections into long-term partnerships.
- The ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, partners and supporters across different countries, cultures and time zones.
- A willingness to travel across Europe and Central Asia to build relationships and represent BirdLife’s work.
- An interest in international conservation, nature restoration, climate action or sustainable development.
- Excellent written and verbal English; additional European languages are an advantage.

We are creating a future where science is more relevant, representative, and connected to society.
Our guests arrive having been told, in a hundred different ways, that they are a problem to be managed. Our radical welcome is the opposite of that — and we are looking for someone to help us sustain it.
Kairos Housing grew out of a shared vision between local churches in Blackburn with Darwen. Our mission is to show the love of Jesus as we provide sanctuary, build community and seek justice.
The people we house have often been sleeping on park benches, sofa-surfing, or staying somewhere unsafe. Some have had an asylum claim refused and cannot work, rent or claim benefits. Others have just been granted refugee status and days to leave Home Office accommodation. We offer a home, and walk with them until they can stand on their own.
Our welcome means saying welcome home and meaning it — a safe place, a bed, community, support and belonging. Not hostility, and not even tolerance. We publicly challenge the hostility our guests face and speak up for a fairer system as part of our mission.Everything in this job about compliance, rent collection and record-keeping exists as so we can provide that radical welcome.
The role
We need someone to take on the day-to-day running of Kairos Housing.
What you'll be working on
- You'll oversee our properties — maintenance, repairs, standards and compliance — as we grow from five homes to seven.
- You'll manage rental income and housing benefit applications from start to finish.
- You'll line manage two part-time colleagues and our volunteers, and coordinate the support our guests receive.
- You'll hold hard conversations with our guests around: arrears, house rules, and occasionally asking someone to leave.
- You'll build partnerships with councils, contractors and other charities, and work with our CEO and trustees on the charity's growth.
- You'll hold our Christian ethos — leading staff prayer and devotionals, building partnerships with local churches, and being available for prayer when asked.
This job is for you if…
- you have a heart for social justice and for people rebuilding their lives
- you are well organised and can hold a lot at once without dropping things
- you build good working relationships easily, inside and outside your own team
- you are calm in difficult situations and can say hard things with kindness
- you are confident with records, figures and computer systems, or ready to learn
- you can travel between our properties across Blackburn and Darwen
You do not need a housing background. If you arrive with relevant operations or housing experience, we would expect to appoint at or near the top of the range. If you have the values and transferable skills but not the technical knowledge, we will train you — including a fully funded housing qualification with paid study leave.
Key details
Office based at Church House, Blackburn Cathedral grounds, with the option to work from home occasionally, and regular travel to our properties. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (This is not an on-call role). Responsible to the Board of Trustees.
Benefits: 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays; 3% employer pension; full mileage; funded qualification and paid study leave; reflective supervision and peer support.
It is an occupational requirement of this post that the postholder is a practising Christian, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. Our guests come from many faiths and from none, and are never expected to share ours.
A driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle are essential, and an Enhanced DBS check is required. We cannot sponsor visa applications.
We shortlist blind, and guarantee an interview to anyone meeting the essential criteria who identifies as disabled or has first-hand lived experience of the UK asylum or immigration system.
How to apply
Download the recruitment pack and application forms from our website and return them to our recruitment inbox. We would be glad to have a chat or show you round first — please get in touch.
Closing date: 11.59pm on Sunday 27 September 2026. Interviews will be held in October.
