Job description

Do you have governance experience and want the chance to apply your skills in an organisation that makes a real difference to people experiencing homelessness?

St Mungo's is looking for a Governance Officer to join our Governance team and play an important role in supporting the charity's governance framework. Working closely with the Head of Risk, Governance & Reporting, you'll help Trustees and senior leaders fulfil their governance responsibilities, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and promote governance best practice across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented governance professional who is looking to develop their career in a purpose-driven organisation that has a lasting impact on people's lives.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure Board and Committee meetings are properly organised and managed

  • Ensure a range of regulatory activities are completed to a high standard and on time.

  • Provide advice on governance matters to enable trustees and staff to meet their governance responsibilities.

  • Be responsible for coordinating the internal audit programme.

  • Contribute to the development of a robust range of governance policies.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Farringdon, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

About you

You may already be working in governance, company secretarial, board support or committee administration within a charity, housing association or similar organisation. Perhaps you're ready for the next step in your governance career, or you're looking for an opportunity to apply your skills in an organisation with a strong social purpose.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, senior leaders, Trustees and other stakeholders.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

  • The ability to analyse and present complex information clearly, concisely and professionally.

  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to identify improvements and contribute to effective ways of working.

St Mungo's are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from all under-represented groups.
