Who we are looking for
Breakthrough T1D is the UK’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, dedicated to funding research, advocating for change, and supporting the T1D community. A year into our exciting rebrand from JDRF to Breakthrough T1D, we’re looking for a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer – Devolved Nations to help us build on this momentum.
The role of the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer - Devolved Nations is vital to achieving our UK-wide advocacy mission: to reduce health inequalities in type 1 diabetes, to widen access to type 1 diabetes treatments and technologies and to ensure that people with type 1 get access to emerging new treatments and future cures in the devolved nations.
You will lead on projects with key stakeholders and high-level Parliamentarians, such as our access to treatments and early detection work, as well as people with type 1 diabetes, policy makers and researchers. You will help to deliver Breakthrough T1D’s influencing plans, improving access to and choice of type 1 diabetes treatments and technology in the devolved nations.
Experience required

Experience of working successfully with politicians, their offices, Government departments, and other public affairs stakeholders to influence policy and to influence public/stakeholder discourse across the devolved nations

Experience of leading public affairs delivery in at least one (preferably all) of the devolved nations

About the role
This is a key support role at the heart of Housing Justice, providing high-quality, proactive and highly organised executive support to the CEO and senior leadership team in a fast-moving national charity environment. We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Reconnection Worker to join our Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Rough Sleeping Service. This is an exciting opportunity to support people sleeping rough to move away from homelessness by reconnecting them with accommodation, support networks and services in areas where they have a local connection, established support system or entitlement to assistance. Reconnection can take place both within the UK and internationally and aims to ensure that individuals can access the right support in the right place to sustain a move away from rough sleeping.
Working as part of a dynamic and highly successful outreach team, you will build positive relationships with people experiencing homelessness, carrying out assessments and developing personalised reconnection plans. You will work closely with local authorities, support providers, health services and community organisations to help individuals access accommodation, reconnect with family and support networks where appropriate and secure sustainable routes away from rough sleeping and a harmful street lifestyle.
In this role you will:
- Undertake assertive outreach across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, engaging with people sleeping rough and carrying out comprehensive assessments.
- Develop and coordinate personalised reconnection plans, including arranging accommodation, travel, family mediation and access to support services.
- Work closely with local authorities, statutory services, health providers and community organisations to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
- Manage a caseload of clients, maintaining accurate records and monitoring progress towards sustainable reconnection.
- Support clients to access welfare benefits, healthcare, substance misuse services and other support that will assist them in moving away from homelessness.
This role involves working early mornings, evenings and weekends as part of a rota.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults and an understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.

Engagement Partner London
Location of work: London, must live within the M25. This post holder will be based at home and will deliver a hybrid model of engagement, combining in-person visits to schools and other establishments within an allocated local area with remote engagement.

JOB PURPOSE
Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The Engagement Partner will be responsible for delivering both face to face and remote engagement with schools, teachers, children and young people, and their wider communities within an allocated area. The role will support schools with the setup, rollout and continuous improvement of breakfast provision, and engage with school communities to educate on the importance of breakfast on learning, enabling increased uptake in a barrier and stigma free way by optimising provision and encouraging reach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To develop strong relationships with supported schools in the allocated area, enabling, preserving, embedding, enhancing and extending stigma- and barrier-free breakfast provision through a combination of in person and remote engagement.

To educate and engage the wider school community, including teachers, parents and children and young people, on the importance of breakfast and the implications of hunger as a barrier to learning through assemblies, staff meetings, online support, virtual and in-person events, and regional events throughout the academic year.

To engage with the wider community, both in person and remotely, to advocate for the importance of breakfast, promote the work being delivered in existing schools, and support Magic Breakfast’s campaigning and advocacy strategy and plans.

To support supporter visits, volunteering activity, funder engagement and any related requirements, both in person and remotely.

Report to: Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering
Responsible for: Leading the food distribution service and quality assurance at Hackney Foodbank’s allocated Food Distribution Centres located across the borough of Hackney. This includes ensuring all our visitors have a positive experience when collecting their food parcels and are signposted to other provisions appropriately; being responsible for directing the volunteers, working closely with the Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering, Health and Safety, and promoting best practice at each centre. This role will also involve administrative tasks, organising and carrying out home deliveries for visitors, inputting data on visitors’ journeys accurately into a database, driving the Hackney Giving Van occasionally and regularly driving a Luton van to the various Distribution Centres.
Part-time: 25 hours per week, some evening work is required
Salary: £32,000 per year (pro-rata for 25 hours per week)

Specific responsibilities:
· Attend Hackney Foodbank’s Food Distribution Centres to ensure each Centre is run in accordance with HFB’s best practice procedures.
