What is the Worker-led Transition project?

The Worker-led Transition project is a collaboration between NEON and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) that aims to future-proof manufacturing jobs, accelerate climate action and push back against far-right politics in industrial communities.

The TUC estimates that the future of up to 800,000 jobs in the UK (in sectors like chemicals, automotive, steel, ceramics, their supply chains and more) depend on timely planning and investment in industry to meet the needs of a decarbonised economy. Our project supports workers in high-carbon manufacturing industries to plan for a sustainable future for their workplaces (e.g. making green steel or zero-emissions vehicles), builds alignment across the climate movement in support of a worker-led transition, and counters far-right politics in industrial communities by advancing a vision for a socially just climate transition that protects and creates well-paid, unionised jobs in the clean industries of the future. 

Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to support NEON’s work to build organising capacity in UK social movements, with a focus on NEON’s Worker-led Transition project. You will:

• Build support for a worker-led transition in the climate movement and industrial communities, with an emphasis on local and regional coalition and capacity-building in key industrial regions, as well as strengthening relationships with the trade union movement and industrial workers.
• Provide responsive support to movement organisations when they need it most, offering strategic and organising support and advice.

Key Responsibilities

1. Play a key role in the delivery of NEON’s movement building and organising work for the Worker-led Transition project, by strengthening relationships between the climate movement and trade union movements, and training and supporting local groups and community members to organise and campaign in support of a worker-led transition and a sustainable future for communities in key industrial regions:
   • This will involve visits to industrial sites and communities across England and Wales
2. Co-design and deliver events and trainings, where climate activists and trade union organisers and members can build relationships, strategise and plan joint action to deliver a worker-led transition
3. Collaborate with TUC staff to ensure coordinated and effective action in support of a worker-led transition
4. Work with colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to develop strategy, and join up our organising work across programmes
5. Play an active part in the whole NEON team and the Movement Building Hub Team, contributing to organisation-wide plans, including providing facilitation support for other NEON programmes as and when requested.

Who you are

Please note - this isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a:

• Proven track record of using organising and movement building approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3 years of experience. This might include: doing mapping, conducting outreach, organising mass meetings, integrating political education into campaign planning, or convening organisations to build alignment and develop shared strategy
• Ability to design and deliver a complex organising and movement building strategy in a fast moving environment, with sensitivity to movement politics
• Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and work effectively with a range of movement organisations and individuals, including workers and those directly impacted by injustice and oppression
• Experience of delivering trainings and facilitating, including to those at the sharp end of injustice
• Excellent planning skills to ensure projects are designed delivered to a high standard
• Ability to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic organisation
• Experience of delivering trainings and facilitating, including to those at the sharp end of injustice
• Understanding of the climate movement or trade union movement
• Willingness to occasionally work unsociable hours (always repaid with TOIL)
• Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion
• An affinity with NEON’s aims, objectives and organisational values of solidarity, generosity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Proactively develop a pipeline of funding opportunities, establishing relationships that will lead to new partnerships or donations
• Manage a portfolio of existing partners, developing and implementing engagement strategies to strengthen these relationships
• Match funders’ objectives with the Foundation's programmes and goals
• Prepare funding applications, proposals, presentations, and pitches, working collaboratively across the Foundation to support the development of these documents
• Evaluate and report on partner activities to ensure goals are achieved and the impact of their support is shared
• Develop and implement engaging and bespoke stewardship plans
• Accurately capture information using our CRM (Salesforce) pipeline process
• Support colleagues as they develop new donor relationships to secure grants and donations
• Develop and maintain updated knowledge of the Foundation’s programmes and associated funding opportunities

Experience and personal attributes

This is initially a fixed-term role, with the possibility of extension subject to the continued development, funding and success of the Land Management Advice Service

We have secured funding from Natural England to explore how private finance and new farm‑based business opportunities can help reduce environmental pressures on the River Clun Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and inform a possible future Protected Site Strategy (PSS) for the area. This project is known as FINCH (Facilitating Investment in Natural Clun Habitats).

What you will be doing:

This exciting role involves managing the day-to-day delivery of the FINCH project, including developing and maintaining strong relationships with participating farmers and external consultants, and ensuring all work is delivered to agreed timescales, budgets and reporting standards.

You will play a key role in facilitating learning and deepening understanding of emerging nature markets, engaging a wide range of audiences including farmers, landowners, colleagues and partners. A central aspect of the role is building and maintaining positive relationships with farmers and landowners to support wildlife friendly farming, habitat creation and maintenance and to encourage land use change where appropriate. You will also provide land management and farm advice, taking practical action across a range of settings to benefit different habitats including riparian corridors and river systems.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to the ongoing development of Land Management Advisory Service, help identify and engage new clients and strengthen support for nature-friendly farming practices. You will also support the development and implementation of systems for evaluation and feedback from landowners and farm managers.

In addition, the role involves delivering practical on-farm measures through third-party funding, supporting farm businesses to access government and environmental assurance schemes and undertaking farm surveys and whole-farm planning focused on the delivery of environmental goods.

What you will bring:

• A degree in Agriculture or a related countryside discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Project management experience, with a track record of delivering projects to agreed timescales, budgets and outcomes.
• Experience providing agricultural advice and management support, including knowledge of Government grant schemes and emerging Nature Finance Markets.
• Experience in delivering environmental and wildlife sensitive farm surveys and whole farm management plans.
• Willingness to travel across the county to engage with farmers, landowners and colleagues as required.
• Excellent communication skills, supported by strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office functions such as Word, Excel, Outlook, email and the internet.

UWC International is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Lead (USA) to advance major gifts fundraising and strategic philanthropic engagement across the United States.  This is a newly created role, reflecting our ambition to significantly grow our fundraising capability and expand our reach. Reporting to the Director of Development and partnering closely with the UK-based Executive Director, you will lead the cultivation of a high-value donor portfolio, secure transformational gifts, and build long-term, trust-based relationships with individuals, foundations, and partners who share our vision.

This is a pivotal senior role with the opportunity to elevate UWC International’s presence in the U.S. while developing your own expertise within a globally connected organisation. The role is UK-based with regular travel to the United States, though we are open to exploring a U.S. base for the right candidate. We are looking for a relationship-driven leader who combines sharp strategic thinking with a strong track record in major gifts fundraising. Experience or strong knowledge of the U.S. fundraising, advancement, or development landscape would be a distinct advantage. The Fellowship and Administration Officer is the main point of contact for Society Fellows, applicants and general enquiries. They administer and update records in the Society’s CRM database and undertake financial and general office administration. They also support the delivery of the Society’s annual programme of in-person, online and hybrid events.

Main Responsibilities

• Acts as the main point of contact for Society Fellows, prospective Fellows and general enquiries by telephone, email, letters and in person
• Assists with application, Fellowship and subscription queries and Fellowship applications and sends welcome packs to new Fellows
• Administers and updates database records and provides reports from the database (for example, mailing lists for sending biannual newsletters and other printed items to Fellows)
• Assists the Finance Manager with financial administration relating to Fellowship, including standing orders, credit notes, direct debits and Gift Aid, renewals and various mailings
• Assists Fellows with website login access and event bookings
• Monitors the Society’s main email inboxes, responding to queries or forwarding to other colleagues as appropriate
• Produces the monthly Fellows e-newsletter and additional e-mailings as required
• Undertakes general office administration, including meeting room bookings, booking accommodation for Trustees, printing meeting papers and mailings

One of two Outreach and Project Workers pivotal to the delivery of an exciting new Women at Risk (WaR) project which will support women at risk of rough sleeping, homelessness and exploitation. Working across key areas of Enfield and Haringey you will, through a combination of nighttime outreach and daytime service provision, be critical to supporting a coordinated response across multiple agencies already engaged in this work.

You will undertake at least twice weekly nighttime outreach, support additional services and existing outreach provision and develop a daytime offer that meets the needs of women engaged through outreach and identified as at high risk of harm and homelessness.   

You will have responsibility for a caseload of women identified through outreach, referral and presentation at ours and other services. You will provide advocacy, casework support and connection and referral into other agencies which can help them address their needs.

We’re currently recruiting a part-time (28 hours per week) Counselling Service Manager to manage the Charity’s Merton counselling service and work with colleagues across our services in Croydon, Merton and Sutton. For this post you need to have a counselling/mental health qualification along with extensive clinical and management experience. We are also looking for people with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health.

Responsibilities include supporting less experienced staff and supporting the cohesive working between services within the charity. In addition, you will be offering a flexible range of short-term and longer-term mental health interventions to children and young people aged 11-25 including individual and group-based support; workshops; crisis support; mental health themed activities. The posts have scope and opportunity for developing new initiatives and ways of working to support young people’s mental health across South London. 

All posts are fully office based and will require flexible working across service areas and interventions and will involve some regular evening and/or weekend work to meet the needs of young people.

About the roles 

These are new roles focused on bringing lived experience into everyday inpatient care.This is a pilot project, hence the one-year contract term. 

You will work alongside ward teams to support recovery focused and therapeutic activity. The role is about being present on the ward, building relationships, and contributing to a positive and engaging environment for patients. 

You will use your lived experience appropriately to support hope, participation and recovery, while working within clear professional boundaries.

Hours and contracts

We are recruiting a small team of Lived Experience Recovery Workers to work across inpatient settings in West Sussex. 

Contracts will be offered flexibly, likely across 4 to 5 roles, with a mix of full time and part time hours. 

All roles will be place based, working within a single inpatient setting. There is no requirement to travel between sites. 

We welcome applications from people looking to work between 3 and 5 days per week. 

Final hours and working patterns will be agreed based on service needs and the strengths of the successful applicants. Our aim is to build a balanced team that provides consistent ward based presence across all sites.

The Shakespeare Hospice is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Fundraising Assistant to join our Income Generation team and play a central role in supporting the Hospice’s fundraising activity.

This role is the first point of contact for many of our supporters, helping to ensure every interaction with the Hospice is positive, responsive and meaningful. You will act as a key coordination point across the fundraising team, supporting campaigns, community fundraising, events and supporter communications.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will help to ensure that fundraising activity runs smoothly and that opportunities to engage and thank supporters are maximised.  This role is pivotal in ensuring that supporters feel valued and connected to the Hospice, helping to turn initial engagement into long-term relationships.

You will be someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in providing excellent supporter care.  You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities while maintaining attention to detail.

Experience in fundraising, events, customer engagement or supporter care would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
