The Food Manager plays a critical operational leadership role at FareShare South West (FSSW), ensuring that the charity maintains a consistent, safe and high-quality flow of food to community organisations across the region. Supporting the Head of Food & Membership, the post holder is responsible for managing day-to-day food supply, strengthening local sourcing, and building long-term relationships with suppliers and partners.
The role ensures that incoming food—whether from national or local sources—is compliant, well-managed and aligned with operational capacity. It plays a key part in the effective monitoring of stock, the food pipeline and logistics scheduling. The Food Manager leads local sourcing activity, expands food innovations such as frozen and re-labelling, and oversees key food-related projects including the regional Gleaning Programme.
Managing the Food & Community Officer and working closely with Operations, Membership, Fundraising and other internal teams, the Food Manager helps deliver FSSW’s food strategy, reduce waste, and maximise the impact of surplus food redistributed to frontline organisations.
1) Strategy, Performance & Team Management
- Support the Head of Food and Community in the development and delivery of the food strategy, budget and annual targets.
- Monitor weekly performance against agreed plans; provide operational reporting for internal teams and funders.
- Line-manage the Food & Community Officer and HGV Drivers, including recruitment, appraisals, supervision, wellbeing and development.

2) Food Supply Management

- Monitor and report the changing food pipeline, helping devise strategies to redistribute gluts and reduce waste.
- Support Operations and the Head of Membership & Food Partnerships with stock-level monitoring across FSSW sites, including stock movement, product types and capacity.
- Working with Operations, Transport and the national partner, lead on logistics schedules for incoming food to maximise volume while ensuring cost-effective solutions.
3) Local Food sourcing:
- Lead delivery of the Local Food Sourcing Strategy, ensuring local sourcing achieves or exceeds 25–30% of total incoming food.
- Act as the first point of contact for local and regional suppliers, maintaining strong, long-term, trust-based relationships.
- Promote FSSW’s surplus food redistribution capabilities through events, presentations, online presence and food sector networks.
- Grow and manage a sustainable pipeline of local surplus and donated food, complementing national supply.
- Work collaboratively with other FareShare Network Partners to share local food opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and accessible sourcing records and outcomes.
- Support food safety and compliance, including product recalls, legislative changes and liaison with national partners and the H&S Consultant (via the Head of Membership & Food Partnerships).
- Ensure all incoming food is compliant, within operational capacity and aligned with local logistics.
4) Food Development & Innovation
- Lead expansion of the Gleaning Programme across the region, working with Operations, Volunteering and Fundraising teams.
- Support development of new food innovations including:
- Frozen food expansion
- Breaking down ambient bulk
- Re-labelling and product preparation
- Manage key food projects, including reporting to relevant funders, ensuring accurate procurement and financial data in partnership with the Finance Manager.
- Represent FSSW in local collaborations/partnerships addressing local food waste or surplus food
5) Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a positive safety culture, modelling safe working practices and encouraging team members to work safely and report hazards or incidents promptly.
- Ensure the incoming food supply complies with FareShare HACCP Food Safety Manual and all relevant legislation and audit standards.

Essential Criteria
- Experience in a food, logistics, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), warehousing or similar operational environment, with an understanding of supply, stock flow and operational constraints.

We are looking for an Intercultural Engagement Manager (Freedom of Speech) to to manage our student-led external speaker events policy and processes, which are key to enabling the Union to balance our responsibility to enable and protect freedom of speech within the law with our fundamental charitable purpose to deliver for the educational benefit of our community and society.
The role holder will manage the external speakers’ approval process, including assessing the risk rating and the risk mitigation steps required for events. These are essential processes that enable the Union to facilitate student-led events, which broaden the scope of discussion and debate and contribute to the academic and non-academic development of our members, whilst ensuring the safety of those participating.
The post holder will also work with the Head of Intercultural Engagement to increase the number and variety of skills development opportunities for students, catering to the diverse needs of our members. They will be responsible for expanding the reach and impact of the Impartial Chairs programme, our skills development programme designed to help students tackle contentious issues, develop a nuanced understanding of power dynamics and a toolkit of techniques to enable them to navigate challenging conversations with individuals with different views.

The purpose of this role is to bring together two of FareShare South West’s (FSSW) most critical functions — community membership and food supply — to help transform our current impact, rescuing and sharing food for million more meals. The post holder will lead the development and implementation of both the membership and food strategies, ensuring our membership offer is responsive to community need, operational capacity and the changing landscape of surplus food.
This role is responsible for building and sustaining strong regional and national food partnerships, aligning supply with member demand, and ensuring food reaches the highest priority organisations. The post holder will lead and develop expert teams, strengthen cross-departmental collaboration, and drive service improvements, innovation and growth.
As a key member of the Wider Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the role ensures robust governance, accountability and performance across membership and food, contributing to
organisational strategy, financial sustainability and long-term impact for communities across the South West.
1) Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Provide visible, values-led leadership with clear accountability to the CEO and Board; ensuring teams are aligned behind a consistent culture and change agenda.
- Lead the creation and implementation of the membership and food strategies; delivering to budget, achieving ambitious targets, and embedding innovation for long-term growth.

- Raise awareness of FSSW’s capability to redistribute surplus food and, with support from our communications team, position the organisation as the surplus food partner of choice in the region, leading on food campaigns, external activity, networks and events.
- Working with the Food Manager, maintain and grow local food partnerships across the South West to secure supply aligned with infrastructure, growth plans and community need—taking the lead on stewarding key suppliers and maintaining accurate records.

The Communications Manager plays a key role in increasing the reach, visibility, and impact of the organisation’s work. In this exciting and varied role, you will manage the HR lifecycle, provide HR advice, develop and improve policies and processes, and manage payroll and benefits. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Income and Gift Aid Accountant Assistant to help us make sure every penny counts in our mission to stop MS. You'll play a key role in managing our income processing and supporting Gift Aid claims to help us maximise the value of every donation.
You'll ensure that donations recorded in our CRM system match the funds received, resolving discrepancies and supporting our income processes to run efficiently. Working closely with our Customer Services and Fundraising teams you’ll be at the heart of making sure our financial data is accurate and robust.
You’ll also assist with preparing and checking Gift Aid claims, helping us claim back vital extra funds at no additional cost to our supporters. Your detail driven approach will help us continue to build a strong and transparent foundation for everything we do.

This Fundraising Lead role (Maternity Cover) is central to our strategy - designed to secure sustainable income through community engagement, partnerships, and bold, values-aligned funding. You’ll lead the development and delivery of an ambitious fundraising strategy that aims to grow income to £400,000+ per year - supporting both WSUP’s immediate needs and long-term growth. This will include a blend of bid writing, challenge events, and community-led fundraising, working closely with volunteers, partners, and local supporters to build strong relationships and unlock sustainable income.
Your work will help expand our trauma-informed services, embed lived experience across the organisation, and ensure we respond to rising demand with dignity and care- while building a local solidarity economy based on mutual support and community-led solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & income generation
· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.
· Corporate & individual giving: Work alongside Service Delivery Manager and Deputy Service Manager to develop relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors, creating engagement opportunities.
· Donor stewardship: Manage and nurture relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting and impact updates.
· Donor stewardship: Provide timely and effective follow-up communications with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
· Fundraising strategy: Support the development and implementation of WSUP’s fundraising strategy, identifying new opportunities for income growth.
· Event fundraising: Assist in planning and delivering fundraising events to engage supporters and raise unrestricted funds
· Financial oversight: Work with the CEO to develop fundraising budgets and ensure accurate income tracking.
· Financial oversight: Process cash and cheque donations for Community & Events income, including ensuring this income is processed and recorded accurately on our database which may include batch uploads.
· Campaigns & appeals: Develop and implement online fundraising campaigns, such as Winter Appeal or emergency appeals.
· Storytelling & impact reporting: Work with Communication Lead to share real-life stories that showcase WSUP’s work.
Person Specification
Essential skills & experience
· Fundraising knowledge: Understanding of trust, foundation, and corporate fundraising, with proven experience of writing successful grant applications.
· Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
· Relationship management: Ability to build relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders at various levels.
· Organisational skills: Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· IT proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), databases, AI tools and social media scheduling tools.
· Financial literacy: Ability to create fundraising budgets and financial reports.
· Compliance: Knowledge of fundraising legislation, including Gift Aid and GDPR compliance.
Desirable skills & experience
· Experience in a small charity setting, ideally within the homelessness or health-related sector, understanding the challenges and opportunities of grassroots fundraising.
· Experience organising donor engagement events or corporate sponsorship opportunities.
· Proven ability to use videos and infographics to enhance fundraising campaigns.
· Social media: Experience using social media for fundraising and engagement, with an understanding of digital marketing principles.
· Experience with volunteer management or coordinating fundraising volunteers.
