MEMBERSHIP AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

ABOUT THE BIA

We have 600+ members at the BIA from a broad spectrum of biotech and life science companies including university spinouts, start-ups to scaling biotech to big pharma, including those that support the sector such as service providers, consultancies, law firms and universities.

We are looking for an experienced BD Manager to join the existing team here at BIA. The primary task is to help build relationships, retain current members, and secure new ones to meet or exceed quarterly and yearly targets.

MAIN PURPOSES OF THIS ROLE:

• To support the Associate Director for Membership and Business Development in building relationships, retaining current members and securing new ones to meet or exceed quarterly and yearly new membership targets
• To coordinate lead development and manage leads process through the entire sales cycle
• To plan and execute targeted business development campaigns working alongside the marketing team to ensure wider promotion
• Lead identification/qualification of potential new members
• To form effective connections with key personnel at member organisations, developing member engagement, event attendance and participation in BIA communities
• To support the development of the BIA business solutions saving programme – both in terms of increasing participation of new and existing members and increasing the range of savings schemes in line with member requirements
• At times, to help manage and organise external event activity including logistics and company engagement in relation to UK and overseas delegations
• To provide administrative support to BD and Membership function
• To work closely with the wider BIA team to deliver the overall membership strategy

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with Associate Director for Membership and Business Development to design campaigns
• Work with wider team to ensure that lead capture through all channels (website, online communications, printed collateral, events, networking etc.) is comprehensive and provides the information necessary for effective follow up
• Work with Associate Director for Membership and Business Development to develop schedules for following up on new member leads and tracking success rates
• Work with contacts at our business solutions partner programmes to develop these schemes further – maximising membership benefit and income for BIA
• Work with Membership team to ensure any issues with renewing members are addressed promptly and to a satisfactory conclusion
• Work with the Sponsorship Manager to pass on leads and to help embed relevant administration
• Gain a strong understanding of all BIA activities/initiatives in order to present the benefits and opportunities of BIA membership to potential and existing members in a professional manner 
• Attend relevant industry and BIA events (UK & overseas) to network and to promote the benefits of BIA membership and build a professional network of contacts. This will include occasional evening and weekend work.
• Regular visits to BIA members offices and external events throughout the UK where appropriate
• Get to know the membership base, and communicate effectively and professionally with member contacts
• Effectively monitor revenue targets (and related budgets) and produce relevant status reports through Dynamics
• Work with Membership team to monitor and keep membership data up to date at all times
• Provide support where needed across the wider team
• Attend internal debtor meetings and chase for outstanding membership payments when necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential Demonstrable Skills:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in consultative sales, business development or membership engagement (including closing sales and understanding CRM principles)

Job description

As Challenge Event Executive you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of third-party challenge events. This will include managing budgets, liaising with third party event suppliers and planning and organising the marketing for each event. You will also support participants from sign up to completion of their event, providing best in class stewardship.

You will be a high performing fundraiser with experience of delivering income growth through effective marketing and supporter stewardship. You will be driven and dynamic and relish the opportunity to deliver significant growth to support the charity to achieve its ambitious goals.

• Project manage a portfolio of third-party challenge events, including identifying opportunities for growth.
• In collaboration with the Marketing team, create marketing plans for each event to inspire and secure supporters. 
• Develop and deliver excellent supporter communications to drive up income and supporter retention. 
• Continually evaluate your portfolio of events in order to ensure the achievement of income targets and maintain a sustainable events portfolio, including making recommendations for new mass participation events and initiatives. 
• Setting the annual budgets for your events, providing regular reports and implementing contingency plans when required.

About Adolescent Health Study

The Adolescent Health Study (AHS) is an ambitious new UKRI-funded initiative to establish a prospective, longitudinal population study that will generate a globally leading open science data platform and research resource. AHS aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people aged eight to 18 years from across the UK and to follow their mental and physical health and wellbeing over at least 10 years. It plans to collect data through questions and measures; to obtain bio-samples for a wide range of genomic and other high-throughput assays; and to capture linked data relevant to health and wellbeing from participants’ health, education and other administrative records. Recruitment will take place mainly through schools. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging with and involving young people, schools, parents and other relevant stakeholders in the design and delivery of the study, as well as on including young people that represent as wide as possible a range of backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. AHS will focus on enabling a wide range of research, including studies of the critical biological and social developments that occur during the transition from childhood to adulthood and the determinants of both mental and physical health and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults.

 

Purpose of the post

 The Procurement Lead is responsible for developing and delivering a robust procurement and commercial strategy that ensures value for money, compliance with Procurement Act 2023 regulations in line with AHS being primarily public funded and supports AHS study and operational objectives. The role will lead on sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and commercial governance, ensuring ethical, transparent, and efficient use of public funds.

Main responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement a procurement and commercial strategy aligned with organisational goals and funding requirements.
• Lead procurement planning across research programmes, operations, and corporate services.

Dimensions

• This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, offered initially as an 18-month fixed-term contract with potential route to permanency.

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes across a number of prisons. To ensure the continuation of our programmes during times of staff absence, we are now seeking to recruit a Prison Facilitator on a bank working basis to work across the South Central (HMP Bullingdon and HMP Aylesbury). Working closely with prisons and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will support with the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme in the area, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

You will have experience working within prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships quickly and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. You will also have a willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, to provide short or long term cover within the prisons in this area.

This role will be prison-based. This is a bank role and so the number of days to be worked will vary and are not guaranteed. As a Domestic Abuse Support Practitioner (Children and Young People) within SafeNet’s community team, you will:

• Build trusted, supportive relationships with children and young people, working both one-to-one and in group settings, ensuring they feel heard, safe and empowered.
• Provide a high-quality, proactive frontline service to children and young people affected by domestic abuse, supporting their emotional wellbeing and helping them feel safe.
• Work closely with parents or carers, promoting healthy relationships and supporting families to recover together.
• Assess risk and complete safety and support plans that are child-centred and inclusive.
• Ensure all support is trauma-informed, accessible, and inclusive to reflect the diverse needs of the community.

You will bring together planning, operational and performance information from multiple sources, interpret what the data is indicating, identify risks, trends and areas for improvement, and translate findings into clear reporting outputs that inform management action.

This role requires judgement in assessing incomplete or inconsistent information, determining appropriate follow-up with stakeholders, and presenting analysis in a clear, accessible and meaningful way for colleagues and managers at different levels. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to promote engagement, maintain momentum and support the successful delivery of programme objectives.

We are looking for a Supporter Engagement Manager to drive growth in the Individual Giving programme through a mix of acquisition and retention campaigns.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in the North London office. The team can consider 4 or 5 days a week.

The Charity
A warm and collaborative hospice, with offices are in an incredible new purpose built building in a beautiful nature reserve. The team are on site with patients and community they support and it is a warm, collaborative space. The team of 40 raise £4.7m.

The Role
With support from the Head of Supporter Engagement and the Supporter Engagement Officer, you would develop and deliver the annual Individual Giving programme including acquisition and retention activities.

Manage the Door-to-Door Supporter recruitment campaign and the external F2F agency relationship.

Take responsibility for growing the Lotteries programme through a rolling programme of promotions to existing and potential Supporters.

Lead on digital campaigns to recruit and retain new supporters.

With support, produce annual Individual Giving budgets and monitor performance against agreed targets on a rolling basis.

Line manage the Supporter Engagement Officer, who oversees primarily challenge events activities.

The Candidate
Demonstrable experience of successfully managing Individual Giving and Supporter stewardship programmes and budgets.

Proven track record of raising multiple 6 figure gifts in one year (£100K plus) from Trusts, Foundations, lottery or public bodies, and demonstrable experience of meeting financial income targets.
Ability to deliver excellent presentations and engaging pitches to internal and external stakeholder.   
Strong grant management skills, knowledge of excellent donor care and ability to develop strong working relationships.
Good understanding of Trust fundraising sector, trends and best practice and experience of working with large well known trust funders.
