About the role
The Social Media and Marketing Officer will deliver high-performing digital marketing campaigns that drive supporter acquisition and engagement. Working within the charity’s Policy and Communications team, you will focus on content creation to support a broad range of charity initiatives, ranging from fundraising campaigns to promoting events including our annual conference and signature fundraising event, the Duchenne Dash, and disseminating news to our stakeholders and community.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Communications, you will lead the execution of digital campaigns, work to strengthen our presence on social media and grow our audience to amplify our communications and marketing activity, produce impactful marketing materials, work with community representatives and ambassadors to develop case studies and support with wider marketing and communications activity.
In the role you will:
- Support the implementation and delivery of multi-channel campaigns that build awareness of Duchenne UK’s work, promote our events, projects and outputs, and support fundraising goals.
- Take responsibility for the charity’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok), ensuring consistent, engaging, and mission-led content – planning, scheduling and publishing content.
- Help manage the digital marketing content calendar and coordinate content with colleagues across the organisation.
- Create a variety of digital content, including graphics, videos, reels, stories, blogs, and newsletters.
- Monitor and, where appropriate, respond to, and engage with followers and messages.
- Manage the charity’s regular e-newsletter using tools such as Dotdigital.
- Stay up to date with trends in digital communication and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Create detailed campaign plans, including channel selection, content requirements, and delivery timelines.
- Monitor campaign performance using analytics tools and dashboards, providing actionable insights.
- Ensure staff and volunteers feel informed and inspired through engaging internal updates and on-brand messaging.
- Harness social media channels to raise the profile of the organisation and promote our work and policy positions and grow our audience on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
Person Specification
Essential experience:
- Experience of writing for a range of audiences and using different channels to produce convincing, clear and succinct content across a range of platforms such as socials, blogs, web and print.
- A strong eye for detail and the ability to create content that resonates.
- Experience of using digital and social media for influencing and campaigning purposes.
- Experience supporting the development of and implementing social media strategies to increase engagement, reach and donations.
- Experience managing competing demands, meeting deadlines, and juggling multiple projects effectively.

The Community Development Manager (CDM) will play a key leadership role for Queen Street Community Centre, bridging day-to-day operations and strategic governance.

As Regional Net Zero Carbon Fundraising Officer, you will lead a collaborative and strategic approach to NZC fundraising across the region. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of fundable NZC projects across the five dioceses.

The Media Campaigns Manager will lead the creation and execution of high-impact, insight-driven media campaigns and sponsorship opportunities that support income generation while strengthening student engagement. The postholder will oversee the Union’s media sales function, managing and expanding the business development strategy, operational processes, and portfolio of marketable assets.

Harris Hill are delighted to be working with a national charity to recruit for the Fundraising and Events Officer role in order to help deliver an engaging and successful portfolio of fundraising and cultivation events, including an annual golf day, comedy night and dinners.
You’ll play a central role in delivering exceptional events, stewarding supporters and corporate partners, and supporting wider fundraising activity. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, creativity and hands on event management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and deliver events from concept to evaluation.
- Maximise return on investment while building meaningful supporter relationships.
- Manage event budgets with a focus on cost efficiency.
- Develop engaging promotional materials across multiple channels.
- Work closely with marketing colleagues on event promotion and post event communications.
- Liaise with and manage suppliers including venues, photographers and entertainers.
- Steward attendees to ensure an outstanding supporter experience.
- Lead on monitoring and evaluating the event portfolio to improve performance year on year.
- Support stewardship of corporate partners and their fundraising initiatives.
- Assist with corporate volunteering days and seasonal activities.
- Help deliver a vibrant volunteering programme, particularly during busy periods such as Christmas.
- Support the securing of Gifts in Kind.
About You
- Proven experience delivering successful events from planning through to evaluation.
- Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational and project management ability.
- Experience managing budgets and monitoring financial performance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems.
- Knowledge of fundraising regulations, GDPR and relevant charity law.
- Resilience, adaptability and calm problem solving skills.
Salary of up to £30,000 per annum

- Recruit a cohort of Scotland-based spokespeople to be trained by NEON and then booked into the media
- Run the Scottish Spokesperson Network - helping NEON position itself as an aide to broadcast journalists and helpful to NGOs, campaign groups and activists on the ground - with a particular focus
- Seek opportunities for long term funding of the role, alongside the co-director of Comms
About the Spokesperson Network
The Spokesperson Network trains and supports people to speak on television and radio. We are substantially boosting the number of progressive, diverse voices in this space to challenge opposition narratives and boost coverage of underrepresented issues.
The programme works by training, coaching and providing PR booking support for spokespeople from civil society working on social, environmental and economic issues. So far we’ve had over 11,000 high-profile media bookings including Question Time, Newsnight, Good Morning Britain, LBC, Channel 4 News, BBC 5 Live, Today, Sky News and ITV News plus many more.
What you will be doing
Here are the key responsibilities of this role:
- Run two Scotland-based Spokesperson Network Trainings
- Keep on top of the current trends and topics in the Scottish media and political environment
- Seek to book the spokespeople who have been trained into the media - with expectations of providing each person trained with ongoing media opportunities
- Support on the Spokesperson Network more widely - booking people into the UK-wide media.
- Be a key part of the Comms Hub - helping with other peoples projects, delivering training and bringing insight and ideas to team spaces.
- Play an active part in the whole NEON team, contributing to organisation-wide plans
Who you are:
- Experience in journalism, communications, media relations or a role that incorporates these skills.
- A great knowledge of the Scottish media and campaigning environment
- Experience delivering media, press or spokesperson training.
- Good writing and editing skills, including an eye for detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communicating appropriately with different stakeholders.
- Project management experience demonstrated through being proactive and well organised, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet the demands of a dynamic organisation and accommodate changing circumstances.
- An affinity with NEON’s aims and objectives and organisational values of solidarity, generosity and respect
- Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion.
- Experience working in the economic and social justice campaigning community in any kind of capacity.
- Willing to continuously learn and grow - with good emotional intelligence and self awareness including around your own power, and an ability to give and receive feedback well, and sit in (and encourage) healthy conflict and disagreement

Hours
Full-time, which for NEON is 28 hours a week - the equivalent of a 4 day standard work week. This can be done over 4 or 5 days, that’s totally up to you. Hours are generally flexible, with some core meetings everyone has to be at.
