About the Role
Join us as an Outreach Worker and play a frontline role in supporting adults experiencing homelessness in Middlesbrough. You’ll be out in the community—often during early‑morning outreach—building trust with people sleeping rough, meeting them on their terms, and connecting them with safe accommodation, health support and opportunities that strengthen resilience and wellbeing. Working within a trauma‑informed, strengths‑based model, you’ll help clients overcome barriers and take positive steps toward stability and independence.
In this dynamic, multi‑agency role, you’ll deliver targeted outreach, attend local drop‑ins, and advocate for coordinated, compassionate responses across housing, health, substance‑use and justice services. You’ll bring experience supporting people with complex needs, confidence in managing risk and maintaining accurate records, and a commitment to safeguarding, equality and person‑centred practice. In this role, you will:
- Engage adults experiencing homelessness through targeted street outreach, including early‑morning shifts.

About You

The Children's Society are investing in a new young people's wellbeing hub in the London Borough of Newham. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to shape a service as part of The Children's Society's mission to reverse the decline of children's wellbeing by 2030.
We believe support should be provided at the earliest possible opportunity, before young people reach crisis point. The service will be set up as a hub, with opportunities to expand to other delivery sites (spokes) and will be designed so that young people do not need an appointment to access support.
The service will work with young people holistically, offering a combination of information, advice, signposting, targeted activities, and therapeutic interventions that respond to young people's individual needs, so that they can regain and maintain their wellbeing.
As part of a service design process, we've been working collaboratively with professionals, young people, communities, and others in Newham to develop solutions that respond directly to children's needs.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
In order to be successful in this role, you must have:
-Excellent understanding of the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people in the local community, informed by current research and evidence bases.
-Experience of working in a trauma-informed and inclusive way. Including working holistically to see, support and respond to young people's 'whole selves'.
-Knowledge and experience of delivering brief interventions / therapeutic interventions (e.g. Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).

The Trainee Urban Forest Coordinator will support the Urban Forest team deliver planting projects and tree establishment/maintenance activities.
The traineeship will include:
- Learning on the job key skills such as tree planting & maintenance best practice, storing & handling trees, using & maintaining tools and leading volunteers
- Supporting the efficient and high-quality delivery of Trees for Cities’ Urban Forest projects
- Supporting the Urban Forest team to deliver projects using contractors, volunteers and in-house staff to carry out the planting, maintenance and habitat management of a range of urban tree planting projects
- Supporting Trees for Cities’ maintenance programme, ensuring successful establishment of our tree stock and carrying out regular health checks
