About this role
This is new and exciting role in our policy and research team. This role will have a particular focus on poverty, with the successful candidate working on a wide range of poverty issues from child poverty to housing. You’ll gather and analyse evidence, help to develop practical proposals for change and be involved in persuading decision-makers to take action.
About you
You will have an excellent grounding in qualitative and quantitative research methods and a sound grasp of social and economic policies in Wales. You’ll be able to explain your work clearly and persuasively, with good written and oral skills. You’ll be able to engage effectively with a wide range of people, from stakeholders to people on low incomes. You’ll be well-organised and able to operate independently as well as collaboratively with a wider team.
Key terms
The role is available for 5 days per week, on a permanent basis.
The salary for this post is £28,393 - £31,273 (Grade 5), with the appointment likely to be in the bottom half of the scale.
We work in a hybrid way, with staff expected be office-based for two to three days a week and to attend monthly in-person team meetings. The Foundation’s offices are in Merthyr Tydfil.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an early years home learning programme in Westminster/Kensington & Chelsea. ParentChild+ has been delivered in America for over 50 years, working one-to-one with families who face significant life challenges. The model is based on one home visit and one group session each week, for at least 37 weeks, by home visitors.It addresses a range of outcomes for parents whose children are at risk of starting school below the expected level, by offering free books, toys and homemade resources and modelling how to create a rich home learning environment.
The Early Years Team Leader will manage ParentChild+ to support 100 families over 2 years. The role will work with the Regional Manager to train, supervise and manage a team of Home Visitors and volunteers to deliver the early years home learning programme in each area.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a senior fundraiser / income-generation specialist with the ambition to grow and diversify our income streams sustainably. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will bring strategic planning and action to the income generation work needed to ensure that the charity can continue delivering, and increase the reach of, its life-changing support to Asylum Seeker and Refugee communities in and around Derby.

Income generation and external partnerships

Programme Overview
Connect to Work is a UK government-funded initiative aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities, health conditions, or other complex challenges in finding and maintaining employment. The program offers tailored assistance, including one-to-one coaching, employer engagement and help with CV writing. Participants can receive up to 12 months of guidance if they are seeking employment, or up to 4 months if they are currently employed but at risk of losing their job. Support is delivered through local partnerships, and individuals can either self-refer or be referred by professionals and community partners.
In Hampshire we will be delivering Lot 2 – aimed at supporting victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse. We will be working alongside Stop Domestic Abuse and other local partners and domestic abuse charities across the area to deliver a joined up and tailored support for this specific cohort.
The Employment Specialist will be based in Havant and play a vital role in the success of the programme for those across Hampshire. They will manage a small caseload, delivering person centred support to create and follow an individualised workplan, engaging with employers directly to support people into good and sustainable work. They will be enthusiastic and passionate about helping people to find that role that works for them.
Location and Salary
The role will be based in our Havant office with travel expected across Hampshire throughout the week to agreed venues. Salary will be £27,976 - £29,500 depending on experience. Travel expenses over and above those to the base location will be reimbursed.

About the role
This is a great opportunity for someone at an early stage of their career who is looking to build experience across operations, HR, governance and project support within a supportive charity environment.
As Business Operations Assistant, you will provide hands-on administrative and coordination support across the organisation. You will work closely with colleagues in Business Operations and across Tommy’s, gaining exposure to a wide range of activities including office coordination, HR processes, governance record-keeping, project administration and basic finance administration such as processing invoices and raising purchase orders.
You will be supported to learn new systems, build confidence and develop practical, transferable skills, while playing an important role in keeping the organisation running smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
Operations administration

Processing incoming post alongside the data team

Responding to general enquiries via phone and email, signposting as appropriate

Providing cover and support for shared external mailboxes, including data protection and accounts

Delivering general office administration, including filing, data entry, ordering office supplies and managing office equipment

Supporting financial administration, including raising purchase orders, coordinating invoices for payment and reconciling credit card statements

Supporting the Office Manager with health and safety compliance

Assisting with internal meetings and events

Supporting the COO with administrative tasks as required

Handling confidential information responsibly and in line with GDPR requirements
Governance support

Providing administrative support for governance policies, procedures and processes

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date Trustee records, documents and registers
HR & People support

Supporting the upkeep of HR processes, guidance and tools

Helping to maintain HR templates, checklists and the HR SharePoint folder

Assisting with improving HR workflows and identifying opportunities to streamline administration

Providing coordination and administrative support to the HR Lead and wider organisation in delivering the People Plan
Project administration

Providing administrative support to the office refurbishment project, including coordinating with suppliers, the project team and staff

Supporting a range of Business Operations projects, including meeting coordination, supplier liaison and finance administration
About you
You don’t need to have done all of this before. We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and keen to learn, with a genuine interest in building experience in operations, HR or office-based roles.

Job Purpose:
EMERGENCY ONG ETS (‘EMERGENCY’) is an independent non-governmental organisation. Headquartered in Italy, it provides free, high-quality medical and surgical treatment to victims of war, landmines and poverty. At the same time, it promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights.
Since its founding in 1994, EMERGENCY has worked in 21 countries around the world, providing free medical care in accordance with its core principles of equality, quality and social responsibility. We do this in a sustainable way: by building healthcare facilities, training local personnel, and conducting search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean Sea.
As an affiliate, EMERGENCY UK has set out an exciting ambition to build on its success over the last three years. This includes a substantial growth in its income, with a particular focus on high value giving from philanthropists, trusts and other private donors. The aim is to implement the newly developed high value fundraising strategy, with a view to tripling current income levels from this source by securing high five and six figure gifts of both unrestricted and restricted income.
The purpose of the Development Manager is to build and maintain a portfolio of high value donors and prospects through proactive networking, identifying cultivation opportunities and thoughtful stewardship. With a focus range of £100,000 and above, the position will develop long-term, strategic partnerships with existing and potential high value supporters, where relationships and their impact will be measured from both a financial and non-financial perspective.
The postholder must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a high degree of lateral thinking within a small but hard-working team.
Main activities:
1) To raise funds in the form of high value gifts (focusing on £100,000 and above) through a variety of methods, including regular face-to-face meetings, attending conferences and participating in other activities by implementing a comprehensive programme to identify, research, cultivate and solicit high value donors who have the potential for significant, multi-year giving.
In this context, the postholder will be required to spend a considerable amount of the working week out of the office travelling and meeting in person with potential donors and their representatives.
2) To manage and develop meaningful donor relationships, including with existing donors, by utilising a wide range of methods, including stewardship events and networking amongst existing donors and their contacts.
3) To actively participate in the implementation of the current high value fundraising strategy, leading change and adjusting plans based on experience and realistic assessments in order to meet pre-agreed targets. This includes supporting the ongoing development of all aspects of the strategy, such as the case for support, prospect research, donor recognition opportunities and individual donor development plans for high value donors and prospects.
4) To contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, taking a lead role in the annual planning and reporting process for high value donors, providing regular progress reports against income targets and ensuring high standards of accountability. This also includes ensuring written and electronic records of donors are maintained, in compliance with data protection legislation.
5) To represent, and act as an ambassador, for EMERGENCY UK at external events, promoting its work and values where and when possible.
Person specification:
- Senior level experience working with foundations, corporates, high and ultra-high net worth individuals, leading them from identification to giving annual and multi-year gifts at the high five and six-figure level
- Experience of working independently to identify and cultivate prospects and influencers who have the ability to make personal introductions to high and ultra-high net worth individuals
- Experience in implementing high value giving strategies and annual plans for high and ultra-high net worth individuals, including reporting on targets and KPIs
- Experience of identifying potential high value donors, qualifying prospects and managing/growing a high-level prospect pipeline
- Experience of working with restricted grant funding: submitting proposals, completing monitoring forms and reporting to donors
- Experience of working within the humanitarian and development sector is preferable
- Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in a complex, multi-cultural environment
- Experience of creating high-quality, high-level donor events and bespoke engagements
- Experience of using Salesforce or similar CRM products/fundraising databases
Essential skills:
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills
- Ability to communicate complex themes and subjects in a compelling and engaging way in writing and verbally
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to motivate and engage high value donors and prospects in the work of EMERGENCY
- Strong understanding of restricted grant funding processes, including proposal development, monitoring, and reporting
- Knowledge and understanding of how to use influencers and connectors in the most effective way for the benefit of EMERGENCY UK and the wider organisation
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-moving environment, leading on a wide range of tasks and projects simultaneously
- A strong team player who treats colleagues with respect and courtesy at all times
- Knowledge of tax efficient giving in the UK, current data privacy legislation and other regulatory compliance issues
