YMCA Community Counselling Dialogue offer free short-term face to face, group and online therapy for young people aged 11 - 18 who live or have a GP in West Sussex. We are recruiting for a qualified counsellor to join our team of therapists as a Community Counsellor based in Littlehampton. You will be passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people.

Your contracted base will be our main office in central Hove, and you will deliver services in Littlehampton, West Sussex.

Key responsibilities

• Offer assessments to children and young people within the Tier 2 Counselling Service
• Manage a caseload of children and young people, delivering counselling within the West Sussex Dialogue service model
• Work with the project administrator and project manager to ensure high quality delivery of service
• Work systemically, e.g. liaise with and include parent/carers, educators, health professionals when appropriate and as agreed by the client
• Manage the tight time boundaries of the role and the often complex and varied workload
• To develop and co-facilitate groups for children and young people in the service
• Work at all times within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and follow YMCA Dialogue safeguarding procedures and policies
• Maintain individual membership of the BACP and to become a Registered Member (or other professional body such as HCPC)

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

• Experience of working as a Counsellor post-qualified at diploma, graduate or post graduate level or equivalent, including working with risk issues
• You will have a BACP Membership; BACP Registered or Accredited. Or other professional body e.g. HCP
• You will also have a sound understanding of child protection and vulnerable adult safeguarding issues, policies, and procedures
• An in depth understanding of counselling theory and practice and working to short-term models
• You will have proven experience in safeguarding children and young people, responding to, managing, and referring safeguarding issues
• You will be familiar with using creative therapeutic approaches, along with experience of working with children and young people aged 11-18 in community settings

The Role

The Campaigner plays a key part in delivering high-impact, evidence-based campaigns across Global Witness’s priority areas, translating investigative findings and policy analysis into strategic advocacy that drives systemic change. Working collaboratively across the Policy and Advocacy, Investigations, and Communications teams, the Campaigner will help develop and implement innovative, multi-channel campaign strategies targeting regulatory, legal, corporate, and public audiences. The Campaigner will build and maintain effective relationships with coalition partners, donors, and other key stakeholders to amplify campaign impact and extend Global Witness’s messages into mainstream discourse.

They will conduct research on thematic issues, contribute compelling written and digital content, support creative campaign tactics, and ensure campaigning activity is responsive to political, legal, and media developments across multiple jurisdictions. Who we are looking for

• Experience in campaigning across different jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of working effectively in coalitions in campaigning, including building new coalitions or strengthening existing ones through our campaigning contributions.
• Experience working on effective strategies with partners, reaching consensus through diplomacy, negotiation and with sensitivity.
• Awareness of risks associated with campaigning, including regulatory and legal risks such as restrictions on protest and defamation.
• Awareness of the importance of libel checks and reacting to legal threats.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex issues to expert and non-expert audiences alike, sometimes with minimal preparation.
• Excellent prioritisation, organisation, problem solving and planning skills.
• Possesses a creative, adaptable and solutions focused approach; makes inventive use of tactics and technology to deliver campaigns; demonstrates an ability to learn, adapt and manage ambiguity.
• Working knowledge of Spanish highly desirable.
• Knowledge of human rights and the media landscape.
• Self-aware, with a good understanding of own strengths, areas for growth and impacts on others.

About the Role

Sitting within the fundraising team, you'll bring clarity and consistency to communications across The Hive. They're currently working with a marketing agency who are refreshing the brand and creating a comprehensive strategy, so you can hit the ground running with a ready-made suite of tools at your disposal.

The main focus of this role is to take the new strategy and turn it into an outstanding communications plan that truly connects with its audiences. This is a hands-on comms role, with operational responsibility for delivery, managing a designer and PR agency - plus the chance to contribute to strategic decisions about how things are done.

We're looking for a strong copywriter and confident communicator who is imaginative, practical, and action-oriented. You'll enjoy developing compelling campaigns across multiple channels and be savvy when it comes to social media.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Marine Policy Officer to join our Policy & Advocacy team and help drive forward our marine conservation and ocean literacy work. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how Scotland manages and protects its marine environment, and to play a central role in the Trust’s Sea the Connection project - an initiative designed to remove barriers and empower communities to participate meaningfully in marine decision making.

The role is varied, high-impact, and ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic policy landscape and enjoys working collaboratively with government, partners, and communities.

About the Role

As Policy Officer, you will play a central role in advancing the Trust’s marine policy, planning, and ocean literacy ambitions across a diverse and impactful portfolio. Working closely with the Marine Policy Manager and the marine policy inclusion officer, you will contribute to the development of evidence based, solutions focused policy positions on –

• Scotland’s Marine Protected Area network
• National and regional marine planning
• Fisheries management
• Marine renewables
  - and the delivery of Scotland’s Blue Economy Vision - particularly its aim to build an ocean literate nation.

A significant focus of the role will be leading the coordination and delivery of the Scottish Ocean Literacy Coalition and supporting the development of Scotland’s first national Ocean Literacy Strategy. You will convene and chair steering group meetings, design and deliver both online and in person engagement events, and gather perspectives from a wide range of stakeholders to shape a shared national vision for ocean literacy. This will require confidence in planning, facilitating, and managing events, as well as the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across sectors including government, NGOs, academia, communities, and marine industries.

You will also represent the Trust at external meetings, workshops, and conferences, ensuring our priorities are communicated effectively and that we remain an active, constructive voice in Scotland’s marine policy landscape. The breadth of the role offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise across marine environmental topics while developing your own specialist area of interest. Ultimately, you will help strengthen the Trust’s capacity to influence marine planning processes, support marine protection initiatives, and contribute to a more ocean literate Scotland.
