Charity and Staff Management

The Learning and Skills Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of clear, structured pathways into education, training, volunteering, work placements and employment for guests accessing GHP services. The role will work directly with guests to identify aspirations, remove barriers, and support progression into meaningful opportunities that enhance wellbeing, independence and long‑term stability.

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. The Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to coordinate project activities, maintain project plans and schedules, monitor progress against milestones, track budgets and resource allocation, prepare reports and project documentation, and ensure actions are completed within agreed timescales. Supporting Young People

• Act as the first point of contact for people experiencing homelessness and referral partners, providing advice and signposting

• Conduct needs and risk assessments with potential Nightstop guests

• Coordinate and manage the logistics of each placement with volunteer hosts

• Work proactively with guests and partner agencies to identify longer-term accommodation options

My Journey from Volunteer to Manager

When I moved to the UK in 2013, I joined the charity through a one-year European Voluntary Service placement, supporting vulnerable and homeless young people in a drop-in café. It didn't take long for me to connect with the organisation's mission and values, and I quickly realised that I wanted to build my career in an organisation dedicated to making a real difference.

They recognised not only my commitment but also my background in social work and passion for supporting others. At the end of my volunteering placement, I secured a role as a Nightstop Project Worker, where I spent four years delivering emergency accommodation services across 12 local authority areas and training volunteers who played a vital role in supporting young people in crisis.

One of the charity’s greatest strengths is its commitment to developing its people. Throughout my career, I was encouraged to expand my skills through leadership and management training, while being given the trust and autonomy to take on new challenges. This investment in my growth led to promotions first to Prevention Services Manager for the North East and Cumbria, and later to National Prevention Services Manager.

Today, I lead a dedicated team delivering family mediation, emergency accommodation, and housing advice services that help prevent youth homelessness across the country. My progression from volunteer to national service manager reflects the opportunities, support, and belief that the organisation invests in its people.

About the Organisation

In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. Office & Administration Assistant – Key Responsibilities 

Office management and administration 

• Maintain a welcoming, safe and efficient office environment that enables staff, volunteers and visitors to work effectively, in line with the ‘Groundswellian Way’, our coproduced principles for a safe, positive work culture.

• Manage the day-to-day running of the office, including , refreshments, office supplies, IT equipment, room bookings and reception duties.

• Coordinate incoming and outgoing post, telephone calls and enquiries through the central inbox, ensuring messages and requests are directed promptly to the appropriate member of staff. 

• Build positive working relationships with Workspace, office contractors and suppliers, including cleaners, maintenance providers and other building services.

• Coordinate annual fire risk assessments, workplace risk assessments and PAT testing, ensuring appropriate records are maintained and actions completed. 

• Support the development and maintenance of Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) where required. 

• Liaise with Workspace to ensure landlord responsibilities relating to health and safety are fulfilled, including fire safety systems, signage and equipment maintenance. 

• Maintain records of accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring statutory reporting requirements are met where appropriate. 

• Coordinate the maintenance and servicing of Groundswell's office equipment, facilities and assets, ensuring they remain safe, functional and fit for purpose.

IT and Systems

• Order IT equipment as needed with external support. 

• Complete basic set – up tasks on staff and volunteer devices with external support.

• Support staff and volunteers to upskill and improve their technological skills through the digital inclusion group. 

Organisational administration 

• Provide administrative support for organisational meetings, events and activities, including venue bookings, catering, logistics and preparation of materials. 

• Support the Chief Executive in implementing GDPR and data management processes, ensuring good administrative practice and compliance across the organisation. 

• Provide governance administration, including scheduling Board and Committee meetings, preparing meeting logistics, taking accurate minutes and maintaining action logs. 

• Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive, Trustees and Senior Leadership Team, including diary coordination, meeting arrangements and room bookings. 

• Support the recruitment and induction of Trustees as required by the Nominations Working Group.

• Support the People Manager with the onboarding and off-boarding of staff. 

General

What the job involves

We’re looking for two Events and Community Coordinators to join our Events and Community Team, one permanent contract and one fixed term for 12 months. We’re a results-driven team focused on maximising opportunities, reaching ambitious goals, and delivering an outstanding experience for our supporters.

Our team raise funds through a range of activities including:

· our own events (e.g. March for Men)

· virtual products (e.g. The Month Series)

· third party events (e.g. London Marathon)

· Golf Days

· helping community fundraisers who organise their own activity

You’ll be our first point of contact for our fundraisers, providing admin and support through telephone, email, and social media channels. You’ll build and manage relationships with existing and new supporters. From registration to the end of their supporter journey, you'll help motivate during challenges, offer fundraising advice and ensure thanks at the end of a first-class experience.

Whilst each Coordinator has a primary area of responsibility across different types of events, you’ll also work across teams to support where needed during busy periods of activity. This role sits within the Sporting Events sub-team, supporting people taking on third party fundraising events such as the TCS London Marathon, a cycling event or our own event, March for Men. Day-to-day, you’ll manage our inbox and proactively reach out to new fundraisers to offer support and guidance, as well as delivering core processes like thanking, fulfilment and volunteer management in collaboration with other internal teams.

You’ll also work with our Communications teams. This supports the planning and delivery of our activity. You'll help engage with our digital adverts and identify compelling supporter stories. This helps to raise the profile of our fundraising activity, as well as prostate cancer and Prostate Cancer UK.

You’ll have the drive and eagerness to provide crucial support to our sector-leading programme of events which generated over £41m of gross income in 2025-6.
